King of Fighters: Survival City Beginner’s Guide: Tips, Tricks & Strategies to Defeat the NESTS

An explosion shakes the earth at a King of Fighters tournament.

As the smog clears, K’ and his friend Maxima find out that the entire stadium is surrounded by a cyborg army created by the terrorist group, NESTS. With too many of them around, the two seek shelter some ways away from the battlefield. They find themselves in a back alley of some sort in a territory owned by a mysterious individual simply known as the Captain.

K’ and Kula—ready to blast some fire and cold.

With Maxima briefly leaving K’ to scout for other safe places to go, the Captain finds K’ and takes him into their shelter. K’ soon finds out that a war is about to break loose and, despite being wary of the Captain’s intentions, he might need the Captain’s extensive knowledge and power over the settlement amidst a sea of chaos and violence.

You just happen to be this very Captain that the King of Fighters cast will be leaning on. Only you have the control over the destiny of your city now: will you fall prey to the Afflicted or will you rise above with your fist clenched high? Welcome to King of Fighters: Survival City.

JOYCITY Corp., the developers behind games like Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War, Hero Ball Z, and The War of Genesis, King of Fighters: Survival City is a kingdom builder game set in the universe of King of Fighters fame.

But Wait—I Never Played King of Fighters!

kof survival city intro
Wills of steel, hearts of iron, souls of warriors.

You’ve never played King of Fighters, you say? Not to worry, we’ll fill you in on the details! However, it’s well worth noting that you don’t have to play King of Fighters to understand King of Fighters: Survival City. However, if you’re interested, below is a quick summary of the game’s story so far to keep you up to speed.

The King of Fighters franchise spans over several sagas. Each of which have different protagonists, endings, and final bosses. To be brief about it, the initial King of Fighters plot revolved around a notorious crime lord who wanted to stage a tournament so he can prove to be the most powerful Fighter. Unfortunately, his undoing happened when a man named Kyo Kusanagi bested him.

After winning the tournament, Kyo has then been put under the spotlight in the next story arc. Kyo is actually a member of an ancient ninja clan, and it turns out that his rival clan’s heir is alive and well. The Yagami clan sends their very own Iori Yagami to challenge Kyo in a battle for supremacy, especially since Iori wields the unholy flames of a demonic entity called Orochi. Naturally, Kyo’s powers drew the attention of unsavory eyes.

kof survival city cyborg army
Is NESTS crazy enough to take over the world? Of course!

Enter the NESTS chronicles. This part of the story is where said terrorist organization has the aim of cloning the world’s most powerful Fighters as well as taking Kyo’s power for themselves. Kyo’s DNA has then been infused into the body of a young boy named K’ (his name is actually pronounced Kay-Dash). K’ is also apparently the copy of an original clone named Krizalid who wields superior powers and is the head of the cloning project.

All of this won’t stop K’ from realizing his want for freedom from NESTS and to fight for himself. With his newfound powers, as well as his newfound friendship with a Canadian cyborg named Maxima, K’ becomes the very downfall of the NESTS organization. The series progresses onward to new villains and characters attempting to seize the powers wielded by Kyo, Iori, and even K’, but this is not where KoF: Survival City is set.

kof survival city alliance
You’ve got yourself one helluva ride.

Survival City is set presumably in the middle or end of the NESTS chronicles where K’ has learned how to fight for himself. However, it appears that this continuity might be on an alternate timeline since, in the beginning, K’ and Maxima meet Kula, a girl created to terminate K’, as an ally. Krizalid is still at a position of power and thus serves as the main villain of this game.

Either way, there is plenty of KoF lore present on the internet. You may even choose to play the games themselves if Survival City’s lore interests you. Unfortunately, only some characters (and bosses) exist in Survival City alone, so don’t expect the Captain to be in any of the other King of Fighters games.

Lore and story completely aside, let’s now take a quick look at the game’s mechanics, shall we?

KoF: Survival City at a Glance

kof survival city maxima
Right at your doorstep.

As we’ve mentioned above, KoF: Survival City is a kingdom builder. That said, and because this is its primary mode of gameplay, this should be discussed first.

The main goal of a kingdom builder, in general, is to amass resources and maintain power within a certain territory. To amass power, one should rise through the ranks in level, attack other players or monsters in the map, or even simply upgrade their troops or their heroes. We’ll discuss upgrades at length later on in this guide.

kof survival city hideout
Smoggy.

Surrounding the city are hideouts where the Afflicted camp. These little places are where you send your Fighters to dispatch the Afflicted and reclaim that bit of land. The end results of each expedition should earn you a fair amount of loot which may come in the following currencies:

  • Food, which is represented by bread;
  • Dollars, which are represented by a wad of cash, and;
  • Gold, which is represented by a gold bar.

Each of the currencies given to you are required to do certain things. For example, you need Food to build certain facilities or move your base from one place to another. All present resources can be used to buy items from the Shop, however, as the items that pop up there vary in price and currency. It all depends on what you need at the moment.

For instance, using Construction Speed-Ups will reduce the time needed for something to be built when used, but we’d rather you save these for when your construction queues reach hours instead of mere minutes.

kof survival city smog
Clear out the surrounding smog and your city will be free.

At first, you will start out in your own city besieged by the Afflicted and it’s your task to completely expand your territory here. During this phase, which covers the majority of the beginning, you’ll fight some micro battles.

These battles are reminiscent of most auto battler RPGs, since you’ll be deploying three Fighters to attack waves of the Afflicted in high-speed, action-packed brawls. There are little nuances to observe here, however, and we’ll cover them soon, especially because the Dark Lab is something you might need to raid occasionally.

kof survival city mission
Onward!

Eventually, your worldview in-game will greatly expand. You’ll be greeted by a massive world map where you will see Fighter troops moving to and fro, fighting different battles whilst raiding encampments among other things that are littered about. You’ll also be exposed to other players who wish to dominate your territory for power, but don’t let up—there’s always a way around things as we will soon show you!

Additionally, Survival City has an idle system that allows players to earn their resources even if the game is closed. This means that you don’t have to play your game for your city to fully generate food, dollars, or gold. You’ll receive these as soon as you log back in. If you’ve run out of things to do in-game and you’ve successfully accomplished everything you needed to, putting the game down will help you reclaim some of the resources you’ve spent.

This covers a quick look into the game’s mechanics. Your main focus now should be to gain more combat power (or CP). If you’re looking to get stronger very early on, keep reading!

General Tips for KoF: Survival City

Your city is always on the brink of disaster in these parts. It’s wise to look out for hostile players, nearby cyborgs, and general threats in your vicinity. But we’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves here—let’s first settle what’s going on in your very own city.

It first must stand on its own as a beacon of hope, a place that attracts survivors that want to work for a brighter tomorrow. It’s your initial goal to work on your territory before heading out into the countryside where the real game begins.

Let’s first focus on building your territory up before you face the greater challenges of PvP.

1. Merge Buildings for Better Production

merging buildings in kof survival city
If only this could be done in real life…

In most kingdom builder games, creating buildings and upgrading them is a standard feature.

You upgrade these structures to produce more resources that further help build your kingdom. If you didn’t upgrade these buildings, your resource gain will be severely stunted since much later, buildings belonging to a higher tier will most certainly require greater resource quantities. Survival City has a unique means to upgrade its buildings, but let us first discuss what each building can do before you upgrade them.

As you might’ve guessed, each building has a purpose to fill in your city. Having only one of each might not be economic at all since you’ll be needing these resources en masse:

  • Restaurant — Generates food
  • Bank — Generates dollars
  • Shelter — Increases living capacity for survivors
  • Warehouse — Stores all your resources

While it would seem having more than one of these buildings will make you generate resources faster, it’s more efficient to have a better building and a few smaller ones around. For example, having a Lv4 Bank with a Lv3 one next to it will be less-expensive than having multiple Lv2 banks everywhere. But this is where the upgrading system of Survival City comes in handy.

As opposed to most kingdom builders where upgrading a building requires you to tap on the building and then tap upgrade on it, Survival City’s upgrade mechanic is a bit different. Creating 2 buildings of the same type and level will allow you to merge them together. Tapping one of them and then dragging it to the other building will merge the buildings together, making a building of that type with a higher level.

To further elaborate, a Lv1 Bank merged with another Lv1 Bank will create a Lv2 Bank. To increase the level of the Lv2 Bank, you will require another Lv2 Bank to merge with it.

Naturally, you will need all the soldiers you can get, so work on building and merging lots of Shelters early on. Restaurants and Banks can be worked on along the sidelines, but much later, Survival City quickly becomes a numbers game requiring you to have more might in your CP than anything. Having high-leveled Shelters is certainly a step toward a better mid-game experience for any player.

As you cleanse your lands of the Afflicted, you’ll notice that you’ll be deploying some members of the KoF cast to fight some micro battles. The next few items in this guide will help get you through said battles and make the most out of them.

2. Manage Your Fighters Well

kof survival city fighter management
Get them pumped!

As you encounter the Afflicted anywhere, your battles will most likely operate like an auto battler RPG.

kof survival city fighter traits
Specializations for everyone.

The mechanics to these starting battles is quite simple: pick your desired Fighters, line them up in the 3 available slots, and then let the battles take place. Do note that each Fighter relies on a pseudo class system of some sort which is represented by a rhombus of 3 different colors. Here it is explained below:

  • Red Rhombus — Melee Class; Fighters classified with this can damage multiple targets at once with melee attacks
  • Blue Rhombus — Ranged Class; Fighters who bear this symbol can damage multiple targets at once whilst attacking from afar
  • Purple Rhombus — Single Target Class; Fighters who have this particular color excel at taking out enemies one at a time at varying ranges

The rhombuses aren’t always empty; sometimes they have an accompanying symbol within them. Each symbol also denotes which field the Fighter excels in:

  • Fist — Physical Attack; These Fighters attack mostly through physical means
  • Reticle — Fixed Damage; Fighters with this symbol are consistent with the damage they deal
  • Spinning Stars — Elemental Attack; Those who have this symbol in the rhombus fight using elemental attacks such as fire or ice
  • Heart — HP; Fighters who have this symbol have more health than most
  • Protective Vest with Fist — P. Def; The Fighters who have this mark are more resistant to Physical Attacks
  • Protective Vest with Spinning Stars — E. Def; Fighters who have this attribute are more resistant to Elemental Attacks
  • Protective Vest with Fist Inside Spinning Stars — P./E. Def; A specialist class. These Fighters have greater defensive capabilities than most.
  • Person Standing on One Foot — BAL; Balanced Fighters. These Fighters are jacks of all trades who excel at everything but are a master of nothing.

Granted that this is a gacha game, getting your ideal team will take a while. However, your starting team of K’, Maxima, and Kula is already well-rounded. K’ is a Melee-class Fighter who deals Physical Damage, Maxima is a Single Target-class Fighter with a P. Def trait, and Kula is a Melee-class Fighter who deals Elemental Damage. Naturally, leveling up your Fighters selectively using Combat Data (EXP) will help your chances of accomplishing a Dark Lab run. But we’ll talk about that later.

Onward to the battlefield itself!

3. Use the Battlefield to Your Advantage

kof survival city battlefield
And they’re all happy campers.

Starting off any fight, every Captain should know that it’s important how you position your Fighters.

One thing you need to understand is how your Fighters might fare against the enemies they encounter. There’s a quick indicator that tells you this and it’s in the form of emojis that appear next to your Fighter whenever you put them on any of the 3 deployment lanes:

  • 😄 — Your Fighter is strong enough to take on their opponents and is suitable for this lane.
  • 😐 — The Fighter here is evenly matched with their enemy; they may or may not struggle in the fight.
  • 😡 — This Fighter will have difficulty fighting their enemies; they might be easily overwhelmed or even get KO’d earlier than usual.

If you notice any of the angry emojis popping up, don’t deploy your Fighters right away and settle with this setup! At least get one of them with an expressionless emoji since you’ll be able to assist in their survival with the timing of skills (more on this soon). You may just have to pay extra attention to them as they fight.

To make sure that the Fighters get the appropriate ratings for their lane, you can simply switch them around the lanes and hope that their emoji changes for the better. Of course, if you’ve gotten yourself a decent roster of well-rounded Fighters, this easily solves the problem.

kof survival city battle
Time for some fireworks.

The moment the battle starts, you will occasionally notice things littered across the battlefield. Sometimes they could be caches that contain loot, but more importantly, they’re health capsules or bombs. These are game-changers. Once you see any of them, do not think twice—tap on them immediately to take advantage of their effects.

Caches aside, bombs can greatly damage the enemy party whereas health capsules can slowly regenerate the health of your Fighters. Tapping the health capsules could use some timing, but activating them earlier could give you the advantage of using them up completely as opposed to only healing your party halfway just as the battle with the wave ends.

At the end of a fight, you might occasionally face a boss. This is the perfect opportunity for you to practice the timing of your skills.

4. Perform Skills Wisely

kof survival city skills
Go, Kula!

While Auto Battle mode is a feature that may come in handy, sometimes it’s better to perform your Fighter skills manually.

There are pros and cons to this. The biggest downside to playing on Auto Battle mode is that your Fighters will perform their skills solely when the skill bar is filled. This could easily compromise their positions or even have them lose a lot of health especially when the boss arrives. However, executing a skill at the exact moment that it is needed could save your team a lot of trouble and this can all be done solely through manual means. Though, using Auto Battle mode when your Fighters are fully powered up should be fine. Auto Battle aside, let us explain how using skills at the perfect moments could make all the difference.

Let us take for example, K”s skill. He flings himself forward with a fiery punch and any enemy unfortunate enough to be in its path will be sent flying. Doing this while a friendly is being overwhelmed by the Afflicted could help take some heat off of them. But if you do this while K’ is too close to an enemy, he might go right through them. Activate it at the very moment he has enemies directly in front of him or away from him. Dragging the skill before using it will show you how far he will travel before performing it.

kof survival city skills 2
Behind you!

Likewise, do not squander your skills on the boss simultaneously. In this case, if Maxima has a boss in his grip as he uses his skill, let him finish laying the smackdown. As soon as the boss is up again, that’s the best time to execute another skill.

The reason behind this is that sometimes, when a boss is being affected by a Fighter’s skill, they cannot be targeted by other Fighters or cause damage to them. Only the Fighter currently performing their skill does damage. Not only will you waste your skill, you’ll also waste your next opportunity to heavily damage the boss.

Additionally, skills have various ranges, arcs, and targets, so exercise and experiment with what you feel is best depending on the situation. The first trio of Fighters is well-rounded enough until you pull more Fighters from the game’s gacha system. It’s there where you can build a team that might be able to sync its attacks even better. Just beware that some enemies can cancel your character’s skills with certain attacks.

Later on, these types of battles will wane in number. The place where you will encounter them, however, is the Dark Lab and it is this place where you could get a ton of resources.

5. Raid the Dark Lab

kof survival city beast king
The bigger they are…

Every RPG should have a dungeon of some sort. The Dark Lab in KoF: Survival City fits this nearly to a tee.

The Dark Lab is an area at the northmost part of your territory. It’s a deep, virtually endless shaft teeming with the Afflicted and other ghastly experiments that NESTS had created. Said experiments are only waiting to be unleashed unto the surface, but only you can stop them before they escape.

Raiding the Dark Lab should be one of your exercises in gaining power. One of the sole reasons behind it is that it gives you tons of loot that can be used to make your Fighters stronger (and in turn, up your CP). Other than that, it also has certain kinds of loot like data that can be used in the Lab for research. You’ll also get all kinds of speed ups, useful for various work around the city. As we’ve briefly mentioned earlier, using these can easily finish upgrades sooner.

You might notice that each floor has 3 stars. Getting all 3 stars will net you bonus rewards as well as help open a special chest that you can find before entering any Dark Lab battle (it’s on the upper right before you select a floor).

Speaking of research, your Lab needs to be constantly working on this. It’s for the good of your city!

6. Research for Perks

kof survival city research progress
Let’s do some science.

Your city has its very own Lab.

Not to be confused with the Dark Lab, your Lab is where you make science happen. Such science contributes to the progress of your city. The progress we’re talking about takes the form of speeding up different forms of production. Investing in this will most certainly mean shorter timers, bigger yields, and overall an easier means of maintaining your base.

The catches here are that each research node costs more food the more you research and there are multiple research trees that may make you spread yourself out too thinly. But don’t you worry—below is a brief list of each of the different trees and what they do, so you’ll be given an idea where you’d want to spend your food for research (scientists get hungry, too):

  • Reign — This research tree is dedicated to an overall improvement of your city. It focuses on the speed of various meters such as construction, stamina recovery, troop training, and even research. That’s right, if you want faster research (for all research trees), you might want to pour your points into Research Budget Increase. Generalism is this tree’s specialty.
  • Income — Fancy yourself a business mogul? How about investing in the nodes here? The Income tree specializes in the gain of different resources. Food, dollars, reward from war spoils, gathering speed—all means of getting stuff can be upgraded here. This would mean increasing the overall yield amount of resources as well as the speed at which they’re produced. If you think you’re always running out of food or money, or you want to make the most out of your expeditions out in the battlefield, invest your food here. You might need a Lab of Lv5 or so to unlock this.
  • War — Are you always being attacked? Do you want to fight back and not worry so much about the strength of your troops? Put your research into the War tree if you’d like to strengthen the overall combat capabilities of your Fighters. This will help make sure that you win battles more consistently. However, unlocking this one requires a whopping Lv15 Lab. You have plenty of time to decide whether or not you’d like to put your research here.

You may choose to mix different trees together if you prefer a well-rounded approach. Though, this would put you at odds with most players who have put their research mostly in just one tree and a few in the other two. In the end, your food’s your own, so feed your scientists however you see fit.

If the Lab improves the overall conditions of your city, then does the Captain get upgrades, too? They do! Read on and find out!

7. Arm Your Captain

kof survival city old tracker's dagger
Sharp, ain’t it?

They say a good leader always sets an example. This is why your Captain should become a force to be reckoned with.

After liberating the lands where the Workshop is located, you’ll be able to equip your Captain with all sorts of duds and doodads. Though, mind you, this doesn’t mean that your Captain will be out to fight the Afflicted themselves (that’s the Fighters’ job), they will instead operate from the shadows and carry out their commands with an iron will.

The Workshop’s purpose is to craft set gear for your Captain and arm them according to whatever purpose you’d wish for them to serve. Just like researching, mixing and matching sets is fine, but you’re better off giving your Captain an objective to fulfill. Below is a list of the different equipment sets and a brief description about them:

  • Tracker — If you feel like you’d prefer taking down Cyborgs and the Afflicted all the same, giving your Captain some Tracker gear will make them more efficient in this task. This basically suits your Captain up to fight Cyborgs and Afflicted toe to toe.
  • Engineer — Giving your Captain a set of Engineer gear will turn them into someone who can speed things up in the city. Everyone will build, research, gather, and work faster in general if you favor this set. You’ll need a Lv5 Workshop to get this set.
  • Guardian — Are you always getting attacked? Try giving this set a whirl. The Guardian set specializes in keeping your city safe from the attacks of other players as well as retaliation. This set requires a Lv13 Workshop.
  • Destroyer — Are you an aggressive player? Give rival players hell by creating gear from the Destroyer set. This set in particular specializes in increasing the overall power and capabilities of your forces while fighting other players. However, this set will require you to upgrade your Workshop to Lv15.

Do note that most of these sets will require items from Cyborgs, particularly High-Carbon Steel. If you manage to track any of these baddies down (or tap the Move button to find them for free), you should be able to fight them and claim the steel for yourself. Act fast when you do, though. This means that other players might be able to steal your kill and leave you with nothing!

Sometimes playing alone could get really difficult. But here’s how you can fix that!

8. Join a Guild

kof survival city guild
Band together!

In times of chaos like these, it’s always best to accompany those who you can trust.

While it may sound cool to be the lone wolf archetype, lone wolves often die young. The strongest wolves are those that find their place in the pack and make themselves an invaluable member. In turn, the pack will ensure the protection of its kin.

This is why joining a Guild is an important step to keeping yourself thriving in Survival City’s turbulent wastelands. By tapping the icon that looks like a blue flag to the right of the screen, you will be given the option to join a Guild or create one for a gold fee.

Guilds have always been around various RPGs. These groups often work together toward a common goal or help their lower-level allies become more powerful. Doing so here in Survival City will grant you a slew of benefits especially since PvP plays a major role in the later parts of the game.

kof survival city base
Perfectly safe.

One very practical reason why you should join a Guild is because you will be offered protection. The moment you join a Guild, you’ll be given a special item in your inventory called a Territory Guild Relocation Ticket which will instantly warp your base within the Guild’s controlled boundaries (which is marked by a green borderline). Once you’ve used it, you have a much lesser chance of being attacked by rival players. Imagine all the resources you save from repairs!

Another reason why you should join a Guild is the support you can gain from fellow Guildmates. If one of your buildings is taking a particularly long time to finish building or if one of your research projects has a lengthy timer, you can request support from your Guildmates which will be posted in the Guild Chat (your Guild will get alerted). Any Guildmates who sees this can help speed up your projects and finish sooner.

kof survival city gifts
Free swag!

Other than these two very practical reasons, signing in for attendance in your Guild as well as achieving milestones in your game alongside your Guildmates. You will be rewarded with gifts that give you extra loot, most commonly speed ups. In other words, simply playing the game with friends and working together to make each other’s bases better is a great way to get strong fast. Give it a shot!

While being in a Guild will ensure safety, protection, more resources, and a more consistent rise in power, it’s still always wise to pick your battles. Let us explain what we mean.

9. Pick Your Battles

kof survival city power
Yeah, this ought to do it.

As you wander the wastelands, you’ll quickly notice that there is a disparity in power.

Some enemies (and players) are much too strong for you and fighting them might look like a complete waste of time and resources. This can be easily avoided if you scout the map very carefully and pick battles that you can handle.

KoF: Survival City is a numbers game. To simply put, having greater amounts of CP means a surer way for you to win against those with less than yours. However, one other thing worth noting here is that CP isn’t always displayed.

One indicator that is ever-present is a little number displayed with a red background whenever you tap anything out in the wastes; this is the level of the target. Your level, on the other hand, is indicated on your upper left, right under your avatar.

The worst thing that could possibly happen when you attempt this is that you’ll end up expending a lot of troops and even risk injuring your fighters. This means that you’ll have to wait for them to recover when you get back.

If the enemy retaliates after you’ve been sent packing (especially if they are a rival player; Cyborgs can’t retaliate), you’ll be quite vulnerable if a defense is needed. It’s a pretty dangerous situation you can put your city in if you choose to be reckless. You’ll also have to re-gather any and all lost resources.

Feeling weary from the battles? How about you take a break and play some minigames for extra prizes?

10. Play Minigames for More Prizes

    kof survival city minigame
It’s like crushing candy. Get it?

Believe it or not, there’s more to just fighting in KoF: Survival City.

If you choose the Fighter Center near your Mainbase and then tap the Puzzle button, you’ll be quickly introduced to a match-3 game that’s only available here. This match-3 game plays like most games of its kind, but if you’re unfamiliar with the genre, here’s a very quick crash course.

A match-3 game situates you on a board with colorful stones that need to be dragged into rows or columns together. As the name implies, matching 3 stones of the same color earns you points and you can go beyond just 3 for even more points.

Games that you might have heard of that are match-3 titles are the immensely popular Candy Crush, Match Land, Royal Match, Storyngton Hall, and many others. While it’s simplistic in its mechanics, it gets quite challenging later on, especially if you want to earn more stars.

    kof survival city success

Survival City’s match-3 follows the same principles. Here, you’ll have to collect a set number of stones of specific colors and do this in only the given amount of moves. Run out of moves, and it’s game over. But there are certain stones that can give you a hand with collection. The catch is, each of these stones have to be matched to be activated. Here is a list of these and how they behave:

    • Vertically Striped Stones — Matching 4 stones of the same color in a row will produce a Vertically Striped Stone of the matched color. A Vertically Striped Stone will clear out an entire column of stones regardless of their colors.
    • Horizontally Striped Stones — Matching 4 stones of the same color in a column will produce a Horizontally Striped Stone of the matched color. Similarly to the Vertically Striped Stones, Horizontally Striped Stones will clear an entire row of stones regardless of their colors.
    • Circular Striped Stones — Matching 4 stones in a T or cross-shape will create a Circular Striped Stone of the matched color. Matching a Circular Striped Stone will “explode” in a small radius and clear all other stones in the vicinity regardless of their color.
    • Rainbow Gemstone — Matching a row, column, or cross-shaped patterns of 5 or more stones will create a Rainbow Gemstone. Matching these with a color of your choice will instantly wipe all stones on the board of that color. For example, if you put a Rainbow Gemstone between 2 red stones, all red stones presently on the board will be removed.

Once you finish a level, the number of moves you have remaining will be translated into Circular Striped Stones of varying colors. Depending on how many other stones have been destroyed on the board, your star count may rise and even earn you the bonus box that comes with the level.

The prizes from this minigame can range from speed ups to various resources. So play often and when you have the tokens to do so (you earn these tokens just by playing the game)!

Overall, King of Fighters: Survival City is a game that requires time and patience. There is a lot of investment that needs to be done, especially in research and construction. Patience is mostly key here. If you ever get lost, always remember what we went over in this guide:

    • When you build your buildings, merge them all as best you can.
    • Fighter management is something you may need to do from time to time.
    • Be observant before you enter a fight; the battlefield may tell you a few things about the situation.
    • The Dark Lab is rife with resources and prizes. Raid it often!
    • Research for extra perks. You’ll need these later on, especially when you start doing PvP.
    • Your Captain isn’t just for show. Arm them and show the enemy who’s in charge!
    • Joining a Guild can open you to a ton of opportunities. Don’t squander this chance.
    • Don’t be reckless! Pick your battles and make the most out of them.
    • The match-3 minigame is rewarding as it is relaxing. Play it when you’ve got the tokens.
