Lumia Saga is a brand new open-world MMORPG that features cute chibi characters. Available on Android and iOS platforms, the game lets you create and customize your own character. Choose one of the starting classes then jump straight into the cute 3D world. Lumia Saga isn’t your run-of-the-mill mobile MMORPG where your just auto-path and auto-battle your way to victory. Underneath the game’s adorable exterior is a complex network of gameplay mechanics that require patience, strategy, and a lot of hard work. Lumia Saga’s pet system is a prime example of a surprisingly complex part of powering up your character.
Most other MMORPGs would give you cute pets to show off to other people, perhaps throw in a random stat or two, then stop there. In Lumia Saga, however, you will have to maintain multiple pets, upgrade and train them, and assign them to the right slots. We have touched on the subject of pets in our detailed Lumia Saga beginner’s guide, but if you want a deeper understanding of how it works, then be sure to check out our Lumia Saga pets guide below!
1. How To Get New Pets In Lumia Saga
Pets have always been the ultimate accessory in any MMORPG. Everyone wants a cute furry creature following them around as they vanquish monsters. The game gives you a free pet during the tutorial, but you also get to unlock a couple more if you pre-registered. If you came in late to the party, you would probably be wondering how you can get your hands on a few more pets. Remember, you need at least five pets to fill up all the slots in Funland.
At the top of your screen is a mug icon that is labeled Ceremony. Tap on it then go to the Pet Capsules tab. This is where you can spend Capsule Vouchers and Crystals for a chance to get a new pet. You also get Pet Hearts, Starlights, Pet Training Balls, Pet Food, and Velvet here. If you don’t mind spending a lot of real money, you may try your luck here. Otherwise, just try it if you get free vouchers. Don’t spend your Crystals here.
An alternate way to get more pets is by purchasing them from Niya’s store. Niya is the Pet Store NPC who lives in Lumia Capital. Just tap on the map and scroll through the list of NPCs until you find [Pet Master] Niya. She sells Purple grade pets in exchange for Pure Velvet. You can also purchase Gold grade pets if you have the required Velvet type.
2. Farm Pure Velvet
Pure Velvet is the only type of Velvet that you can farm. Exotic Gold Velvet and Flaming Red Velvet can only be acquired through the Pet Capsule gacha. The first option for getting more Pure Velvet is by purchasing them from the Honor Store. You can buy Pure Velvet for 60 Honor Coins each. Honor Coins can be acquired by participating in Bright Peak matches.

The second way to farm Pure Velvet is by turning in the Old Captain’s Treasure Map at the Treasure Fishing Boat. You can easily get 10 maps by completing all Class Armament quests daily. Keep in mind that turning in treasure maps does not guarantee Pure Velvet since the rewards for this event are randomized.
3. Working With Pet Attributes
Before we go into the complicated parts of the pet system, let us break down the basics of the Pet Attributes. This will help you understand where you need to look in order to assess your pet’s worth. There are also a lot of things that you can do within the Pet Attributes menu that aren’t fully explained in the game’s tutorial, so make sure you pay attention. There are four parts in the Pet Attribute menu, and we have listed them below.
Attributes: This page opens up by default when you access the Pet menu. It shows you your pet’s Type and Variety. You will also see the Aptitude Attribute section which lists down four attributes along with a green bar for each one. The green part is your pet’s current stats and the entire bar shows your pet’s maximum potential. Further below is the list of your Pet Skills.
Train: This is the second part of the Attributes menu. Choose a pet on the left side then spend Pet Training Balls to change the attributes of your pet. Keep in mind that some attributes may go down during Training, so you may need to Train a lot before you can max out all your pet’s attributes.
Star-up: This is where you can increase the star rating of your pet by spending Starlight. The type of Starlight used must match the rarity of your pet. That means you need blue Starlight for blue pets, purple Starlight for purple pets, and so on. The higher the star level of your pet, the more bonus stats it will receive. Your pet also becomes bigger visually depending on its star rating.
Comprehend: This is where you can use Pet Essences to teach your pet new skills. Pet Essence can be acquired through Auctions, Trading, and Dark Invasion. Just choose the pet that you want to teach a new skill, tap on the plus icon to select a Pet Essence, then tap on Use. Proceed with caution, though. Learned skills might sometimes overwrite existing skills.
4. Feed Your Pets
Your pets can level up in order to become stronger. However, they don’t gain experience the same way you do. You need to feed them to increase their level. You can easily earn various types of pet food through the different Daily Events, but you can also purchase more from the different in-game stores if you are ever short. Make sure you only feed the pets that are assigned to your Funland slots to save on resources. You can always just level up the others later on if you decide to switch out pets.
Pet food comes in different grades. The higher the rarity of the pet food, the more experience it gives out. Since your pet’s level is limited by your own level, make sure you do not use high-grade pet food when your pet’s level is nearing the cap. Otherwise, you could end up wasting all that extra experience. You will see an experience bar beside the Feed button that indicates how much experience your pet needs to level up. Use this bar to gauge what type of pet food you should give.
5. Assign The Correct Pet
The second tab on the Pet Menu is the Funland tab. This is where you can assign pets to different slots in order to gain various boosts. The center slot is the Caring Principal slot. Any pet assigned here will give transfer 100% of all its attributes to you. All of the skills of the pet assigned to this slot will also be activated.

All other slots will only partially transfer a specific attribute to your character. Make sure you assign the pet that has the highest The second slot transfers 40% of the pet’s ATK. The third slot transfers 40% of the pet’s DEF. The fourth slot transfers 40% of the pet’s Life. The fifth slot transfers 40% of the pet’s MAG DEF. The percentage transferred can be increased by spending the correct type of Light Rod. Light Rods can be bought with diamonds from the in-game store. They can also be acquired by playing the Border Cleanup event once you reach Level 70.
6. Check Out The Gallery
The third tab of the Pet Menu is the Gallery. This is where you can find all the pets available in the game. As of this writing, there are only 12 Pets available. More pets will surely come in future updates. The Gallery will show you where you can acquire each pet. You can also view the attributes and the skills of each pet in this section. You won’t spend a lot of time here if you already have a full roster, but this is a good place to start if you are trying to figure out which pets you would want to acquire.
7. Release The Extra Pets
As you progress in the game, you will eventually have extra pets. You might get better pets in events, or you could get lucky with the Pet Capsules. It’s only a matter of time before you have more pets than you have slots for them. When this happens, do not be afraid to release your pets. This is especially true for low-grade pets that you have invested in early in the game. Releasing pets will refund all resources that you spend in upgrading them. You can use the refunded resources to upgrade the new pets that you will be using. Pet Skills that were learned through Comprehend will also be returned to you as Pet Essences. Finally, releasing pets is also a good way to earn more Crystals. You can then spend the Crystals for buying more Starlights and other important items through the Crystal Store.
