X-HERO: Idle Avengers is the first idle strategy RPG from Glaciers Game, a fairly new entrant to the mobile gaming market that started being active just last July. While there are currently a plethora of loosely similar games on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, X-HERO provides a ton of unique features and content fans of the genre and beginners alike will surely enjoy, in addition to the usual ones present in existing strategy RPGs. It’s worth diving into especially if you are a fan of superhero franchises.
One of the basic features of X-HERO: Idle Avengers is that battles are automated, making it very easy for players of all ages and experience levels to pick up and enjoy the game. The general interface and overall button and icon layout in X-HERO: Idle Avengers is likewise simple enough for even total beginners to understand. Most importantly, the game comes packed with a quick and simple tutorial session that takes you through the initial stages of the X-War campaign.
X-HERO: Idle Avengers gives players tremendous opportunities to make good progress regardless of how they play it. If you have just started peeking into the game and came across a seemingly insurmountable challenge, or if you are breezing through yet want to progress through your adventure more efficiently, then read our X-HERO: Idle Avengers beginner’s guide below! We have compiled a detailed guide, that has all the tips and strategies you need to form the best team and dominate each game mode!
1. Prioritize Progressing Through The X-War Campaign
It is practically a rule of thumb across all games regardless of the genre in that if there is a campaign mode, then it should be the most important aspect of the game to progress in. X-HERO: Idle Avengers starts you off by walking you through the first stages of the X-War campaign and while there are some detours every now and then as you unlock new features, it is best to hop back into progressing the journey as soon as possible.
For starters, you receive plenty of rewards, including basic and much-needed resources by beating each stage within the campaign. In addition to rewards based on your star rating at stage completion, which is between 1 to 3 stars, there are extra rewards to receive based on your overall progress within the chapter. As the challenge that lies ahead of the path continues to grow, earning these resources and using them wisely is an important aspect of the game as well.
More importantly, your overall progress in the X-War campaign determines how many other features and game modes you get to enjoy. In this sense, it is best to push as far as you can through the campaign chapters and stages even if you cannot secure a 3-star victory on your initial run. You can always just revisit any previously conquered stage to secure a complete victory and earn the extra rewards that come with it.
X-HERO: Idle Avengers is an idle game after all, which means that you will continue to earn basic resources while you are offline and away from the game. While staying as active as possible will still yield better results, you naturally have to resist its addictive grasp at some point to take a break. Idle rewards in X-HERO: Idle Avengers are based on how far you have progressed through the X-War campaign, which means that even a stage farther will secure you more resources over time.
As much as you can, therefore, prioritize progressing through it and only engage in other activities once you are certain that you cannot beat the current stage you are in. Make it a point to attempt clearing the current stage in the campaign before you take a break from the game. Keep in mind as well that power is not always everything and you can still beat enemy teams that exhibit more power than your team.
2. Maintain A Balanced And Synergistic Team Roster
X-HERO: Idle Avengers certainly has numerous features and characteristics that contribute to the overall fun and exciting aura of its world. The comic-styled panels in its presentation, the explosive special effects, and memorable voice-overs of each hero in line with the massive amount of challenges to engage in make the experience very immersive and engaging as well. Beyond all that, however, the numerous colorful heroes, and the near-infinite mix of team rosters you can build with them lie at the core of what gives X-HERO: Idle Avengers its unique appeal.
Surely enough, you can mix in heroes any way you want and still be able to win battles early on. Each hero is cleverly designed, though some may exhibit some semblances from characters in other franchises. Going for a team based on the characters’ looks is one way of doing it, but unfortunately far from the best way of doing so. If you want a team that can win you through most of the game’s many challenges, there are a lot of factors to consider to ensure that your team stays balanced and synergistic.
Heroes in X-HERO: Idle Avengers can be classified based on their rarity, class, and faction. Each of these traits must be considered whenever you form a team. Despite the limitation of choices early on, you will naturally earn resources and continue to recruit more and more heroes as you progress in your adventure. While each one’s power level is an important point to consider in gauging success probabilities in combat, power is not everything in the world of X-HERO: Idle Avengers.
Heroes in X-HERO: Idle Avengers are either Ordinary (B), Legendary (A), or Mythic (S, S+) in terms of rarity and the higher the rarity means better stats as well as better skills for the most part. A hero’s rarity also dictates opportunities for enhancement as well as max level cap.

While securing S and S+ grade heroes is very challenging, these are the only heroes who will certainly be staying in your team for the longest time. You will naturally have to settle for A-grade heroes early on but switch out B-grade heroes as soon as you obtain better ones and do not invest resources in them.
Each hero has his or her unique set of skills and stats but these traits generally relate to the class or role they take in combat. There are currently 5 distinct roles for heroes in X-HERO: Idle Avengers: warriors, mages, rangers, raiders, and healers or support units. Taking into account each class’ general strengths and limitations is important in building your team.
Warriors stand as the tank of the team and should always be on the front middle lane. Most attacks are directed at this position and warriors have high defense stats on top of damage-mitigating passives that make them sturdier than all other classes. Warriors typically employ control skills as well but lag behind most classes in terms of damage outputs.
Mages are the top damage dealers in X-HERO: Idle Avengers especially considering total damage as a result of their AoE attacks. Mages also typically provide support spells that increase the damage output of their allies. For battles that involve a full team of enemies, mages are very important to have and given that they are vulnerable, they are best kept in the back lane.
Rangers in X-HERO: Idle Avengers work more like an anti-tank, typically dealing damage to the frontlines and also exhibiting debuffs that chomp down on the target’s damage mitigation skills. Rangers can also deal decent damage against enemies in general but will usually target only one enemy or enemies in the front lane.
Raiders are yet another class of DPS units that typically specialize in eliminating targets one at a time. Raiders further increase their damage outputs by using pierce damage and bleed damage on top of the regular damage. Some raiders will target enemies with the lowest HP, making them the perfect unit to cut down the enemy team’s roster.
Lastly, healers or support units provide healing and other defensive buffs on the team. They are not as common as the other classes but an important member of any team. Healers need to survive long to ensure they can continue to support your team and should properly be situated in the back row.
Relative to keeping a balanced team, be sure to consider working on an efficient team formation. To be sure, the most solid tank belongs to the front and center slot while the top damage dealers and support should be considered for the back row. Feel free to consider more than one tank if you need more control, but it should not in any way dissuade you from experimenting with different team compositions and formation settings that may work better for your team.
3. Take Note Of Factions And Faction Buffs In Team Building
Factions in X-HERO: Idle Avengers work more like elemental affinity in most strategy RPGs, employing the proverbial “rock-paper-scissors” approach in giving advantages and equal disadvantages to each one. In essence, there are 4 normal factions and 2 special ones in the game. Dark, superman, Technology, and Nature stand as the normal factions while Universe and God are the special factions.
Dark has an advantage over superman but is disadvantaged against nature; superman surpasses technology but follows dark; technology is strong against nature but weak against superman; and nature beats dark but loses to technology. Units within the universe and god factions equally have an advantage and disadvantage against one another. A unit having the advantageous element in combat will deal 25% more damage to its target.
Beyond the elemental advantages and disadvantages that factions employ in combat, X-HERO: Idle Avengers also provide faction buffs that depend on the total number of faction members present in your team.
Typically, you would want to have a varied representation of each faction in your team and avoid going for a full team belonging to one faction to avoid being completely disadvantaged against an enemy team comprised of units belonging to the advantageous faction. With faction buffs to consider, a concentrated number of heroes belonging to one faction has unique advantages.
Considering the 4 normal factions, having 3 units belonging to the same faction in your team grants everyone a 10% HP boost and a 5% attack boost. With 4 heroes of the same faction, your team earns 15% more HP and 10% more attack power. 4 heroes from one faction and 2 from another grant everyone 15% additional HP and attack. 5 heroes from the same faction unlock a 20% boost to both attack and HP. A full team of heroes belonging to the same faction provides the maximum faction buff of 25% boost on HP and attack.
Units belonging to the god and universe factions are more difficult to acquire as they do have special effects as well in terms of faction bonuses. Gods can be considered as belonging to any normal faction in your team. This means that having 3 dark units and 3 god units can earn you the full faction bonus of 25% additional HP and attack.
Universe faction members do not contribute in any way to the HP and attack boosts provided by faction buffs and instead provide their own set of bonuses based on their numbers in the team. Having 1 universe faction unit earns your team 25% more armor. 2 universe units gain you broken armor + 20%. 3 universe units increase the critical rate for the team by 15%. 4 members give a 15% damage immunity.
Having a full team of universe faction heroes grants the whole team a speed boost of 10%. Note that these effects or bonuses are compounded, meaning that a full team of universe heroes will earn you all of the listed bonuses.
4. Be Selective When Enhancing Heroes
Familiarizing yourself with the numerous points of consideration for each unit you recruit concerning whether or not you will consider them for your team goes well beyond the very first team you form. With a limited number of heroes to choose from at the start of your journey, there will naturally be a huge disparity between your current team and the team you look forward to having. In this sense, it becomes evident that some, most, or perhaps even all members of your current team are just there temporarily.
There are numerous ways for you to recruit or summon more heroes in X-HERO: Idle Avengers and along with milestones and accomplishments, as well as time-limited events and gifts from the developers, the path towards securing your dream team is not as far-fetched as most experienced strategy RPG players might assume. This, in tandem with the limited resources at your disposal, calls for a wise and careful management of every material you need for enhancing units.
With what we discussed above as far as the heroes’ rarities or grades are concerned, it is best to avoid investing anything into B-grade units. You will need to use them for a while as you progress through the campaign mode or so, but you can simply bank on a single higher rarity unit to carry your team for you during those battles. It can be a painful experience to invest in a hero that will later on just be benched in your growing roster, given that better, higher rarity heroes will certainly join their ranks.
One feature within X-HERO: Idle Avengers to appreciate, though, is being able to reset a hero back to level 1 and extract all the resources you invested in them. It will cost diamonds based on how high their levels are but can still be worth it, especially in dire times. As diamonds are a premium currency in X-HERO: Idle Avengers, you would want to avoid spending them carelessly as diamonds are not as easy to obtain outside of special events and achievements.
The most basic way of strengthening heroes is to upgrade them by leveling them up. Doing so will only consume gold coins and hero EXP until they reach a cap within which they must be evolved to continue reaching higher levels. Evolution of heroes consumes gold coins as well as enhancement stones, which are a little harder to earn the hero EXP. Each evolution stage completed unlocks a new skill for the hero or upgrades an already existing skill.
A hero’s quality or tier can also be increased through awakening. This is perhaps the most challenging method of enhancing heroes, but the one that provides the most tremendous boosts as well. Each awakening stage requires a copy of the chosen hero and sometimes other heroes of the same faction and quality. As a tip, try your best to use other heroes for the extra materials and save copies of the hero you wish to awaken.
All hero enhancement methods can be initiated through the hero window, which can be quickly accessed via the hero icon at the lower right side of the screen. Alternatively, though, awakening heroes can be more conveniently done through the awakening lab you can check on the home page.
5. Manage Your Gears Wisely
No RPG is complete without weapons and gears to arm your heroes with and X-HERO: Idle Avengers comes packed with plenty of equipment to mix and match with your favorite units. Weapons and gears in the game also follow a grade or rarity system and similar items within the same grade have practically the same name and same base attributes. Only equipment grade 3 (blue) and above can be enhanced.
As much as the quick equip button on a specific unit’s page makes it very easy and convenient to arm units with gears you have collected, the best way to go is to equip them manually. You will naturally experience scarcity of higher-grade weapons and armor early on, and auto-equipping heroes will simply latch on to the best gears available on the chosen hero.
With manual equipping, you can prioritize units as to whom should wield the best gears. If the hero needs more armor or HP, then he or she should be a priority for your best defensive gear. Top damage dealers should have first dibs on the best weapons at hand.
Note as well that similar weapons and gears can have different extra attributes to unlock after upgrading, which means that you may have to check on each hero’s gear set from time to time to make some adjustments.
On the hero screen, you can tap on the enhance icon at the bottom to initiate an item upgrade. An equipment’s max upgrade level is determined by its color. You will need to spend gold coins and upgrade materials for each upgrade attempt as well. Note that upgrades are influenced by success probabilities that go lower as the enhancement level rises. Keep in mind that a high chance of success does not necessarily equate to a 100% chance and a low success rate is far from 0% as well.
6. Join A Union As Soon As Possible
Guilds, factions, clans, alliances, and many other similarly-themed player groups have been an integral part of most online games, most especially those within the RPG and strategy genre. In X-HERO: Idle Avengers, unions very much share the same purpose. Although there are no actual team battles in the game, unions provide a ton of benefits and come with no consequence at all so it is not a matter of whether or not you should join one but rather which union to align yourself with.
Once the union feature becomes available to you, you should join one as soon as possible. This does not mean that you will simply join any union, as the union members’ overall strength and activity will have an impact on the benefits you can receive from the union itself in general. Through the union icon at the bottom of the screen, you can quickly check the details of unions with vacancies and apply to the ones you feel will serve your best interest.
You can check what the union has to offer through the same icon once you are accepted by the union leader. To start, structures within the union page that have red dot indicators on them ought to be peeked into first although you should spend time exploring each structure in your own time as well. Activities you engage in earn you union coins that you can expend for unique union-based upgrades.
Be sure to invest gold coins and union coins within the union tech to provide specific classes within your roster an added boost to their stats. You can battle a boss along with your fellow union members in the Dark Head and engage in various PvE and PvP game modes through the other structures. Be sure to take advantage of the extra info center within the union page as well. You can watch video ads here 3x per day to obtain random rewards that include an excellent quality S-grade hero.
While it is true that you can still make good progress in X-HERO: Idle Avengers all on your own, simply being a member of any union reaps you additional perks and opportunities to engage in more game modes. If you are raring to make a speedy progress towards your adventure in the game, being in a union is a definite must along with staying active within it.
7. Revel In Other Game Modes Within Space
At some point in your journey through the X-War Campaign in X-HERO: Idle Avengers, you will naturally encounter defeat, potentially at the hands of an enemy team with a huge power advantage gap compared to your current team. In such cases, and after expending resources to enhance your top heroes, this is the moment where you need to venture into the game’s other game modes that serve as the equivalent of dungeons in conventional RPGs.
The Space, which you can instantly access via its icon at the bottom of the screen, houses a wide variety of content each with its own unique set of challenges and rewards. You can easily tell if you have remaining attempts or progression chances within these game modes as indicated by red dots on the appropriate structures. Note that some of these features are locked behind your progression within the campaign, which is why it is important to keep progressing through the campaign as your top priority.
The Time Travel pits you against a team of opponents that grow in power from one level to the next. You consume fuel with every battle you engage in and you can repeat previously conquered levels for extra rewards. Gears can be obtained from this game mode so if you are raring to equip better items on your heroes, then you should push to progress in Time Travel.
A Time Rift is also included in this dungeon, which lets you earn summoning scrolls. Time Rift comprises unique challenges that limit the units you can use to what is provided for the challenge. It is good to know each available hero here to shorten your trial-and-error attempts.
The Galaxy Wanted pits you against a team of opponents as well to earn gold coins, hero EXP, and enhancement stones. Just like the campaign mode, you should not shy away from challenging the next battle even if the gap in total power seems wide. There are no penalties for losing in battle so push as far as you can go. Once you reach the point where you can no longer press forward, you can sweep to earn extra rewards.
Star Trek serves as the counterpart of tower dungeons in other RPGs. Instead of climbing a tower, though, you will be traveling through a star system to battle various enemy teams. Naturally, the enemies grow tougher and your team needs to survive throughout.
Heroes in your team do not heal or revive after each battle but there are med kits and revival areas scattered about. It will be very important to still have a healer in your team to survive longer. Each battle you finish can earn you buffs for the next battle. Be sure to consider the ones that apply to most members of your party if not everyone.
There is also an Arena that serves as the main PvP game mode in X-HERO: Idle Avengers. Battles are not real-time and are on auto mode as well. Wins and win streaks earn you rewards and a higher rating earns you extra rewards. Be sure to remember to update your defense roster every once in a while, unless you need to rank yourself down to secure more victories whenever you attack other players.
8. Accomplish Quests For Extra Rewards
There are plenty of instant rewards to earn with each battle or activity you engage in as you venture through the world of X-HERO: Idle Avengers. A lot of the game modes provide extra rewards as well for reaching certain milestones within them. Beyond all that, though, more rewards can still be earned as you complete quests.
Chances are that you will accomplish numerous quest objectives before even knowing what the objectives are. This is because each objective listed within the quest feature aligns directly with the activities you engage, or should engage in, in X-HERO: Idle Avengers. Be sure to visit the quest page via its icon at the upper right side of the home or space screen.
There are daily quests, weekly quests, monthly quests, and achievements. Daily quests are naturally the easiest objectives to accomplish and can earn you activity points for the most part. Activity points unlock treasure chests above the page but you do not necessarily have to clear all objectives to open all the chests.
Weekly quests, work very much the same, and some objectives you complete within the daily quests contribute to the fulfillment of weekly quest objectives. In addition to activity points that unlock treasure chests, you also receive various rewards per objective you clear.
Monthly quests can be a challenge and you should make it a habit to check your progress for each objective as often as you can. You can select from multiple heroes for your rewards before accomplishing the objectives. In addition to the chosen hero, there are tons of other rewards.
Achievements serve as milestones of your overall progression across the different aspects of X-HERO: Idle Avengers. Achievement works by levels, which means that you need to clear a given set of objectives first before moving on to the next level. Each feat you accomplish earns you bountiful rewards. Completing an objective lined up on a subsequent level counts as well.
9. Manage Your Inventory Regularly
One of the reasons you need to keep an eye on your inventory is that there is limited space for your gears just like there is a cap on the number of heroes you can keep. On the Recycle Station found on the home page, you can disassemble extra gear to obtain Vibranium, which is a needed resource for enhancing equipment. Likewise, you can also decompose normal heroes as well as heroes you no longer need to earn blood frazil that can be used to purchase heroes at the shop.
Another reason to check on your bag at the right side of the screen is to get to know each item, especially ones that you are not familiar with. Likewise, there are pieces within the third tab of your bag which may contain hero shards or optional cards you can use to summon more heroes. No normal-grade heroes come out of these items so each one you get is likely worth checking into immediately.
10. Tend To Your Homeworld
If all the content we plowed through so far still leaves you craving for more, then you will surely be looking forward to unlocking the Homeworld feature in X-HERO: Idle Avengers. The Homeworld houses your main base as well as the spaceships you can take with you into battle. There is even a slot machine within it that you can play with for some extra resources as well as a chance to earn an S+ grade hero.
You will initially be made to invest some energy cores into purchasing your first spaceship. There are 2 choices and it does not matter much which one you choose first as you can always purchase the other one later on.
In any case, you can click on the magnifying glass icon to see the details of each ship and prioritize activating the one that suits your team’s needs more. Once activated, you can upgrade the ship by investing gold coins and energy crystals in its available modules.
You should also spend gold coins and energy crystals to upgrade your main base and unlock more structures that produce resources over time. When it comes to resource-generating structures, prioritize the ones that you need more from. If you can, you should expend all attempts at the slot machine. Each spin consumes energy, which replenishes over time.
It is best to prevent your energy from capping up as it will no longer generate energy when it is full. Note that getting ship icons out of the slot machine will have you plunder resources from a random player. Be sure to click on the resource or resources you need the most.
11. Take Advantage Of Special Events
Most mobile games nowadays tend to bombard new players with tons of gifts and bonuses to help them catch up to other players who started earlier than they did. X-HERO: Idle Avengers does not lag in that respect and, in some cases, even exceed the usual new player benefits through their special events. In addition to those designed for starting players, there are other special events that everyone can revel in as well.
One of the beginner events you should take full advantage of is the 7-Day Carnival Event that you can access through its icon at the left side of your screen. You have a total of 14 days to accomplish the feats outlined each day of the first week. Although you can only see the targets of the succeeding days on the day itself, you can still accomplish all objectives of the days that passed.
In addition to valuable resources you can earn from completing each task, the score you earn hands out additional rewards, ultimately allowing you to receive an S+ grade hero, Medusa.
There is also a Christmas event running at the time of this writing, which comes with a tone of rewards that include items very difficult to obtain anywhere else. Be sure to be on the lookout for similar events in the future as the rewards you can obtain from similar special events are expected to be a lot more valuable than the usual set of rewards you obtain anywhere else.
X-HERO: Idle Avengers is expected to dish out even more content and features in its subsequent updates. As much as it is an idle strategy RPG by category, it is a type of adventure where time spend actively and dedication is directly proportional to the progress you can make. As far as the idle rewards go, frequent visits to the campaign and clicking on its icon before it grows full works best.
And that sums up all the tips and strategies we have come up with for X-HERO: Idle Avengers. While there are still some content and features we have yet to unlock ourselves, we are fairly certain the simple tips and strategies we shared with you in this guide will suffice to walk you through each of them with relative ease.
If you have spent a lot of time exploring and adventuring in the world of X-HERO: Idle Avengers and stumbled upon a tip, trick, or strategy in addition to what we have already discussed, or if you have puzzling questions you need answers to, we very much appreciate hearing from you about them so feel free to tell us about it in the comments!
