Dislyte, like many similar gacha games like Cookie Run: Kingdom, Genshin Impact and Azur Lane, is made up of a variety of characters (in Dislyte they are called Espers) to collect and battle with. In this article, we aim to rank them based on the four main roles of Espers in Dislyte: Fighters, Supports, Controllers and Defenders. As each Esper is unique in their own ways, some skirt the line between two different roles and may make an appearance on more than one tier list.

Fighters
Fighters are the main damage-dealers of the team. They have the strongest attacks among allies but may not always have the best survivability. Most of them focus on building up their ATK, C. RATE, C. DMG and sometimes ACC to boost up their damage output, but some also rely on other stats or external factors. Each Fighter has their own quirks that make them unique to each other and may have the following traits:
- Chain Striker (deals multiple hits in one attack)
- AoE (deals damage to all enemies)
- Nuker (deals high damage in 1 attack)
- Additional damage based on Esper’s or enemy’s stats
- Damage to Heal
- Counterattacks
- Repeats skills
- Bonus or buffs from killing an enemy
- True Damage or DEF-ignoring damage
- Grants Buffs that affect stats or skill damage (ATK Up, C. RATE Up, etc.)
- Inflicts Debuffs that let them deal more damage or keep enemies from recovering (DEF Down, Sear, Poison, Bleed, Diseased, etc.)
- May increase ATK, C. RATE or ACC through Captain Ability

For the SS Tier, we chose Espers who have the best survivability among all Fighters and can deal amazingly high damage. Most of these Espers also have passives or special features that let them deal more damage aside from their ATK.
Lynn (Hathor)

Li Ling’s high damage-focused skills make him easy to work with and a nightmare for his enemies. His 2nd and 3rd skill’s damage scales up as a portion of it is based on the target’s HP and deals it as True Damage.

Hyde’s Breath of the Deep buff makes it possible for him to survive long battles and get even stronger over time, giving Hyde 5% ATK per stack and 3% damage reduction per 10 stacks with a max count of 50.

For the S Tier, we chose Espers who can deal high damage even with just basic equipment and has better survivability than most fighters. However, they may still need Supports to keep them going. These Espers could deal as much damage, and maybe even higher, than SS Tier but needs a lot of work to be independently strong.

Stewart (Dionysus)

Stewart deals great amounts of damage while putting his enemies to sleep. However, while his 3rd skill can deal a whooping 350% of ATK as damage, he will lose 25% of his current HP and fall asleep himself. When woken up, he is guaranteed to counterattack.
Taylor (Hercules)

Lu Yi (Dayi)

Ollie can deal a considerable amount of damage with his 3rd skill. However, what sets him apart from others is his ability to save an ally from dying while countering the attacker with his 3rd skill. However, his passive becomes useless if no one dies during battle, making his skill situational.

Bai Liuli is a well-rounded Esper who can support herself with her team-wide heal and self-dispels per turn but her attacks don’t always hit very hard and need good equipment to thrive.

David can shake off disables inflicted on him and bites back with a Taunt. His third skill lets him steal 3 buffs from an enemy, with each one empowering his finishing strike to reduce AP. However, his third skill has long cooldowns and he’ll be stuck using his first skill for most of the battle.

Xie Chuyi’s skills don’t do that much damage unless he’s buffed or unless his brother, Xie Yuzhi, is present in his team. When he is, his damage on his first skill scales up based on the target’s max HP and his 2nd skill will let him repeat his attacks 2 more times.
Supports
Supports are essential to every team. Their role is to keep their allies alive with heals and revives, blessing them with buffs while debuffing or disabling their enemies. They may not always have the strongest attacks, but they make sure those that do survive and perform to the best of their abilities. The main focus of their builds vary greatly depending on which stats can affect the effectiveness of their heals, buffs and debuffs. Each Support has their own unique blend of abilities and may have the following traits and abilities:
- Heal, Recovery or Revive
- Heals may be based on caster or target’s max HP or a certain stat

Bonnie can inflict debuffs and remove buffs from her enemies with each attack while also giving AP increases to allies. However, she lacks buffs and heals.
Controllers
Controllers serve as the tide-turners of battle. Their goal is to immobilize their enemies, slow them down or speed up their own team in order to move before they do and strike more hits than they can. A weaker or lower level team with a strong Controller has the potential to destroy a stronger team. They are essentially Supports with a focus on SPD, AP manipulation and disables. Their builds rely heavily on SPD and ACC. Each Controller has different capacities of controlling the speed and movement of their enemies and may have the following traits:
- Immobilizes enemies (Stun, Freeze, Petrification, Sleep, etc.)
- Manipulates SPD, AP, Cooldowns and Turns
- SPD-Damage Conversion
- Inflicts disabling Debuffs that affect skill usage (Silence, Buff Blocker, Diseased, Miss Rate Up, Taunt, etc.)

Triki may have overpowered anti-dispeller skills, but his Stun only occurs if he successfully transfers a debuff to an enemy while his Petrification occurs when enemies try to remove his debuffs. Both are greatly dependent on his enemies casting debuffs and having dispellers; a requirement that isn’t always met in every battle.

Jacob’s only Controller skill is his ability to Petrify enemies that are poisoned, which only triggers once his last skill is upgraded in Ascension. He has no AP or SPD manipulation skills, making him unreliable as a Controller but potentially more reliable as a Support.

Eira cannot immobilize her enemies but has strong SPD and AP manipulation along with the ability to remove buffs and make her allies temporarily immune to them.
Defenders
Defenders are the rarest Esper role in the game. Their main purpose is to act as a Tank that will take in the enemies’ attacks to make sure that their allies survive the battle long enough to kill their enemies. They can either be HP-based Defenders or DEF-based Defenders depending on which stat is higher or they are more dependent on. Defenders with HP or DEF to damage conversion gains a major advantage over those that don’t because when you upgrade the stat, you not only increase their toughness and survivability, you also increase their damage output. Each Defender has their own unique build and skill set and may have the following traits:
- Taunt
- HP or DEF is their highest attribute
- HP or DEF-Damage Conversion
- Gains advantage from getting hit or having more DEF than enemy
- Attacks allies’ attackers
- Grants Buffs that improve allies’ DEF or lessen or prevent them from taking damage
- Increases HP or DEF through Captain Ability
SS Tier

For the SS Tier, we chose Espers who have almost all of the Defender traits we have listed. They can redirect multiple enemies to them while managing to survive.

Unlike most defenders, Donar lacks the ability to Taunt or even fight back against his ally’s attackers. His buffs only benefit him and may become useless if not hit by his enemies. However, when they do make the mistake of damaging him, even with AoE attacks, he can strike back hard with his 3rd skill. In many cases, he feels more of a self-sufficient Fighter than a Defender.

David’s ability to Taunt makes him a potential Defender. However, his Taunt is only triggered when he is disabled from taking action before his turn starts, making the skill situational.

While we have made extensive research on each and every Esper on our list, this does not fully reflect their overall effectiveness on every team. Each Esper is different and may perform better than others in certain situations. There is no obvious meta because the game is well-balanced, making it hard to make an accurate overall ranking system for all of them.
