Tencent Games certainly put a whole lot of content for you to play with in Chess Rush. You have the various modes, strategies, and placement of pieces to consider when you are playing this exciting new mobile game. Even with just the game modes, you have to think about it first! Just one wrong move is all it takes for you to lose a match and possibly your current ranking.
No, it’s not always easy to regain that ranking. The fun part is that even up against much higher ranked opponents, you can still win. It was a matter of knowing the Combos and how the pieces work together. In this Chess Rush best heroes guide, we will share with you a bunch of details on each character. In general, we are revealing all the pros and cons of each hero. Note that any mention of attack speed in “( )” is in seconds.
1. Human
The Humans of Chess Rush can build up mana quickly. Note the “chance” in the Humans description. You might instantly regain all mana points to have abilities ready to use again. The problem is that it doesn’t always happen for all pieces. A Human piece might activate its ability repeatedly. Another might only get an instant 100% mana points regen.

5. Furry
The Furry race of Chess Rush provides a fairly easy to gain set of tankers. Unfortunately, it takes all 4 Furry pieces to make them great tankers with an extra 2,000 HP at the start of all battles.
Bangar
Pros: Good Tanker. Good survival rate.
Cons: Average attack speed (1.5). Taunted targets won’t stop attacking it even though armor boost has expired. It needs to be mixed with Warrior and Furry pieces to improve survival rate.
Recommended Item(s): Defensive Armor, Resistance Cloak
Firefur
Pros: Good attacker. Fast attack speed (1.1). Very cool ability!

Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff
Berserker
Pros: Good attacker. High attack speed (1.1 and decreases) even without other Goblin pieces.

Recommended Item(s): Defensive Armor, Resistance Cloak, Critical Greatsword
7. Undead
The Undead pieces of Chess Rush are a nasty trick to use against your opponents! They’ll instantly drop all the armor of your opponent’s pieces at the start of the battles. This armor drop lasts for the entire battle! It’s when you have Apocalypse mixed into your Undead pieces, you opponent’s pieces start to melt awfully quick!
Famine
Pros: Fast attack speed (1.1). Good attacker. Basic attack increases as it kills opponent pieces.
Cons: If this piece doesn’t kill opponent pieces, no matter how much damage it did to a piece, it won’t get an increase in damage. Surprisingly not as heavy hitting as you’d think even mixed with other Hunter and Undead pieces. Has seemingly “squishy” defense.
Recommended Item(s): Critical Greatsword, Defensive Armor (optional)

Recommended Item(s): Forbidden Tome, Defensive Armor, Resistance Cloak
Misfortune
Pros: Good attacker. Fast attack speed (1.2). It heals itself and allies while causing damage with its ability. It’s fairly easy to obtain.
Cons: It might be standing alone so there’d be no one to heal (ranged attacker)! It also might not hit enemy pieces because of it standing alone.
Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff
Apocalypse
Pros: Devastating attacker. It can be a devastating attacker even without upgrading. Its ability slows attack speeds of opponent pieces. Its ability can hit all 10 opponent pieces if they’re within range.
Cons: It needs to have 2 or more opponent pieces to be a devastating attacker. Average attack speed (1.5). Not easy to obtain.
Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff, Piercing Dagger (optional)
8. Demon
The Demons of Chess Rush are among some of the naturally heaviest hitters in the game. The trick is to use only 1 unless you have the set of Punishers mixed into your pieces. Having more than 1 Demon piece in your lineup without the Punisher Combo will negate the extra damage done by Demon pieces.
Lilith
Pros: Strong attacker. Fast attack speed (1.2). It’s a ranged attacker. Good ability damage.
Cons: Somehow ends up behind enemies at the start of the battles which isn’t always a good idea.
Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff

Nether Prince
Pros: Great attacker. Fast attack speed (1.1). Its ability can hit many targets at decent range. Nice mix piece with Marsh Lord for Warlock.

Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff
The Devourer
Pros: Great attacker. Its ability can instantly half a target’s HP. Becomes a stronger and faster attacker when its ability is used.
Cons: One time ability use. Average attack speed (1.4). It’s a bit slow on the casting speed.
Recommended Item(s): Forbidden Tome, Defensive Armor, Resistance Cloak, Piercing Dagger
The Executioner
Pros: Devastating attacker. Fast attack speed (1.3). Good survival rate (Warrior).
Cons: Not so easy to obtain. It might use its ability on a nearly dead target.
Recommended Item(s): It’s all of them because you want this piece on the attack and able to use its ability as much as possible.
9. Oceanborn
The Oceanborn pieces of Chess Rush are tough to work with. It’s their Combo effect that basically discourages their use. However, you should pay attention to their abilities more than their Combo.
General Puffer
Pros: Fast attacker (1.3). It’s a great ability with fastest cool down (3). Potentially devastating results from its ability. The ability is meaner when mixed with Undead pieces. Good survival rate (Warrior).
Cons: Might hit a nearly dead target with its ability (wasted armor reduction).
Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff, Forbidden Tome, Defensive Armor, Resistance Cloak
Siren
Pros: Fast attacker (1.0). Fun ability (not fun for opponent)!
Cons: Its ability duration is a bit short until you get it to 2 star or above.
Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff, Forbidden Tome, Defensive Armor
Kraken

Cons: Its ability doesn’t go after multiple targets.
Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff
King of the Sea Shakaraka

Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff, Forbidden Tome, Defensive Armor, Piercing Dagger, Resistance Cloak
10. Void
The Void pieces of Chess Rush are very potent on the attack. But once you have the set, the battle result won’t be hated! The battle results are usually determined very quickly too! Yes, they’re in your favor!
Void: Destruction
Pros: 2 piece set and this set can be painful for an opponent’s piece. It’s a devastating attacker. It’s a fast attacker (1.1). Its ability can hit many or all opponent pieces.
Cons: Its ability can be avoided by ranged attackers.
Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff
Void Doom Nebula
Pros: Devastating attacker. Has an extremely destructive ability. 2piece set same as Void: Destruction. Potentially great survival rate (Warlock).
Cons: Not easy to obtain. Average attack speed (1.5).
Recommended Item(s): Spellbane Staff, Piercing Dagger
11. Dragon
The Dragon pieces of Chess Rush are usually great to have. The trick is that if you obtain 1 of them, you should go for all 3. You’d really want that advantage of using their abilities at the start of every battle. This holds especially true for Venom. Venom’s ability constantly damages its target until it is dead. The ability cool down of Venom’s ability isn’t lengthy so you could kill off a couple pieces in very little time.
All dragon pieces were included in the sections Human, Elf, and Beast. These pieces include Moonlight Dragon, Dragoon, and Venom.
12. Jelly
Gurru
It’s only used to upgrade a piece to 2star. Gurru replaces second (Druid) or third (all others) piece requirements to upgrade another piece. This comes in very handy when the piece you’re trying so hard to upgrade simply doesn’t show up. Don’t forget the very random nature of the pieces being offered in the Shop during matches. That randomness is what gives everyone the chance to win a match. Never equip items on this piece.
