Upcoming Horror Survival Game ‘Alien: Blackout’ Heading to Mobile Devices

After several months of rumors and speculation, fans of the Alien franchise finally have an answer as FoxNext has just released the first trailer for Alien: Blackout. When the title was first trademarked last November, players suspected that it may be the next Alien shooter that is currently in development. The game, however, turns out to be a mobile horror survival game that is set to be released for Android and iOS devices.

Alien: Blackout follows the story of Amanda Ripley, the daughter of the first movie’s protagonist and the main character of 2014’s Alien: Isolation. The game’s timeline falls between the two movies Alien and Aliens. The narrative revolves around Ripley’s efforts to uncover the truth behind Nostromo’s disappearance. Her investigation leads her to an alien-infested space station where she, and the rest of the surviving crew, must outwit the Xenomorph in order to make it out alive.

Very little gameplay is shown in the teaser trailer, but the game’s official site reveals that players must guide Ripley’s crew through a series of tasks by using the station’s damaged emergency systems. The danger of a lurking alien predator combined with the unpredictability of defective equipment adds to the suspense of the game. Players will have to make difficult decisions, which may include sacrificing some crew members in order to make it to the end. The end, however, may change depending on the very decisions the players make.

Alien: Blackout is the result of collaborative efforts between FoxNext Games, D3 Go!, and Rival Games. It comes out as part of a larger Alien project that is identified only by the words “Read. Play. Watch.” as seen on the teaser trailer. No official announcement has been made regarding its release date, but it will be available on the Google Play Store, the Apple App Store, and the Amazon Appstore.
