It has been a few years since Mythgard was first announced. Rhino Games intended for the game to bridge the gap between veteran CCG players and newcomers. It is a difficult balance to achieve since CCG games usually attract hardcore players. That is probably why Mythgard spent most of the year in semi-closed alpha. The time has come, however, for the world to finally get a taste of the game.
For the CCG enthusiasts, Mythgard is like a combination of Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering. After a lot of testing and tweaking, Rhino Games seems to have successfully perfected the formula they were hoping to achieve. They released a new video detailing the basic gameplay to give everyone a better idea of how it all works.
The story of Mythgard is set in a futuristic world where the powers of gods have been passed on to their descendants and mythological creatures like dragons exist alongside modern technology. The game takes pride in its “Free Means Free” motto which means every card in the game can be obtained through play. No special cards are locked behind pay walls.
While the bulk of Mythgard’s gameplay will revolve around PvP matches, it also has an extensive single player campaign that will allow players to learn the ropes and figure out strategies. Single player stages also allow players to familiarize themselves with the different factions be fore assembling their own deck.
