Tropicats is a fun match-three puzzle game from Wooga, that’s out now for Android and iOS devices all around the world. In this game, you get to help cute little cats build and decorate their island by solving fruity puzzles. One of the great things about Tropicats is, that it’s also a resource management and town building game. You won’t be trudging along an endless number of puzzles for no reason. Everything you do will help you build a better village. You also get to meet adorable cat characters like Olivia, Elsie, and Kip, as you progress in the game. 1. Match Four And Above
One of the basic mechanics of any match-three puzzle game is the special boosts you get for matching at least four tiles. You can create tiles that clear entire rows, or even all the tiles of a certain color, when you combine four or more. One unique combination in this game, however, is the butterfly tile. It is created when you combine a 2×2 square. Using the butterfly tile will remove one obstacle from the board such as a rock or ice. This is a handy tile to have especially when you have bigger combos that are being blocked by obstacles.
2. Get Feathers For Birds
Certain stages in Tropicats involve helping a bird fly. When you come across these levels, make sure you prioritize matching feathers over anything else. The only way for you to free the birds is to collect feathers, and this can be time consuming. Don’t worry if you need to collect other things as well as part of your mission. You will most likely collect these things over the course of gathering enough feathers. Remember, birds can break through rocks and vines. They can also fly through ice although the ice tiles will remain intact.
3. Spin The Wheel Of Furtune
Once in a while, you will get the chance to watch a video advertisement in order to spin the Wheel of Furtune. Take advantage of this whenever you can in order to accumulate resources such as gems and coins. Make sure you will play for a while longer before you spin, though. One of the possible prizes from the wheel is unlimited lives for 10 minutes. It will be a waste if you log off from the game before the 10 minutes is up.
4. Solve Puzzles When You Have Lives
Lives in the game regenerate over time. That is why you should prioritize spending these lives when you are in the game. Once you have used up all your lives, you can then focus on building up the island. Avoid doing other in-game tasks when you have lives because the regeneration time will be wasted. Don’t worry. The town isn’t going anywhere, so you can just go back to decorating any time.
5. Look For Dark Green Patches
When you are in grassy areas, try to look for dark green patches. Regular grass cannot be filled unless you pour elements into them. Dark green grass, on the other hand, do not have to be filled in order to swipe other elements in and out of them. Take advantage of these patches, so you won’t have to use up elements just to be able to swap.
6. Save Your Power Ups
Tropicats will occasionally give you free power ups, and will suggest that you use them. You don’t have to follow the game’s suggestion since most of the time, you will be able to complete puzzles without them. Save the power ups for when you are really stuck in a game. If the power up has popped up on your screen, you can easily dismiss it by clicking on the board.
7. How To Spend Your Games
Gems are the premium currency in Tropicats. You won’t have a lot of it unless you pay real money for it, so it is important to know what to spend them on. The answer, however, depends on what type of player you are. If you are playing the game because of the town building aspect, then avoid wasting gems on solving puzzles. If you are playing the game strictly because of the puzzles, then save your gems for continuing a difficult puzzle.
