Wizards of the Coast’s Magic Duels is a fantastic new mobile game for iOS and Android devices, which got released just a few days ago. This is a card strategy game based on Magic: The Gathering, and in here, you’ll be playing through the stories of five iconic Planeswalkers. As you would in the actual Magic card game, you can build a deck of spells and enhance your skills, taking on friends or thousands of AI opponents in the game’s Battle Mode.
Whether you’re familiar with Magic: The Gathering or not, we’ve come up with some useful Magic Duels cheats, tips and tricks that you can use to beat your next opponent, whether human or AI. These are simple tips and tricks that apply in most situations, so without further ado, let’s get to them.
1. Lure Your Opponents Into Losing Their Cards
You can employ this tactic mainly against AI opponents, but it may also work against human players. Think about it this way – if you’ve got a 2/1 and a 3/1 unit, use the 2/1 unit alone to attack your opponent’s 2/2 defender. They’ll lose a card if they choose to block you, and you’ll still have a 3/1 attacker ready for the next turn. At any rate, you’ll still be dealing out 2 damage to your opponent. The principle here is to leave your better attacker alive while forcing your opponent to lose a defender.
2. Don’t Pay Much Attention To Defense
There has been many a game where offense is your best defense, and that also applies in Magic Duels. Your best course of action is to focus on your attack, and to force your opponent to play defense all throughout. You want your opponent to have no more cards they can use on offense, rather than have to settle only for defensive-oriented cards and nothing else.
3. Play Your Cards At The Right Time
There are certain situational cards in this game, such as first strike and instant cards. Hang on to those situational cards until you really need to play them – you don’t want to play an instant that will result in a +1/+1 on your end if you’ve only got cards with 1 health and your opponent has the same number of cards with 2 attack or better. These situationals can serve as game-changers if you wisely hang on to them.
4. Complete The Campaigns
Want to improve your deck with better-quality cards? The solution here is to play the campaigns; if you’re a beginner, this will also take you to the tutorials, which talk you through what the game is about, while discussing some of the advanced aspects of Magic Duels. Most of all, these campaigns will help you when playing in Battle Mode against more experienced and/or skilled human and AI players.
