Idle Heroes (iOS) Ultimate Guide: 14 Tips, Cheats & Hints You Should Know

Idle Heroes is a complex idle game from DH Games, that’s out now on Android and iOS mobile platforms. It successfully incorporates RPG elements in order to create depth in the hundreds of characters that are available for you to recruit. Basically, it replaces the usual RPG grinding with idle gaming in order to do away with all the boring parts of gameplay. Just set your hero training and when you log back in after a few hours, your hero will be ready for battle. That does not mean, however, that the heroes will not need any help from you in order to reach their full potential. You will need to equip them with the right gear as well as evolve them once they are ready. Since the level-grinding is automated, your success will ultimately depend on your decision making. Make sure you read our Idle Heroes strategy guide in order to learn everything you need to know!

1. Register For A Free 5-Star

idle heroes tips

Some of the strongest characters that you can get in the game are 5-star heroes. They are not easy to acquire, so it is important that you grab any opportunity to secure one. The good news is that you can get your first 5-star hero for free by simply registering your account. You just need to provide a working email address in order to register. After that, you will receive a 5-Star Norma. She is an excellent starter hero that can easily carry your team until mid-game.

2. Log In Every Day For Goodies

Idle Heroes is pretty generous when it comes to rewards, especially for active players. Logging in on a daily basis can get you a lot of freebies. The freebies include various things, but what you are really after is the 5-star shards. Collecting these shards will allow you to summon a 5-star hero for free. The only catch is that the hero shards change regularly, so you may need to wait some more in order to get all the shards you need. The 5-star hero you get from daily logins are also usually not the best options, but they are still worth holding on to, compare to the 4-stars that you might have on your team.

3. Hold On To Your Diamonds

Diamonds are the game’s premium currency. You will be able to earn them without spending real money, but it takes some time. That is why you should try to get the most out of every diamond you earn. Save up your diamonds and avoid spending them until you have enough for 10 Heroic Summons.

If you are active daily, you should be able to earn enough diamonds after just a few days of playing. The game is pretty generous for as long as you dedicate some time to play every day. There are various rewards that you can receive that include diamonds. Waiting until you have enough for 10 Heroic Summons increases your chances of getting a 5-star hero, so it is best for you to be patient.

4. How To Build Your Team

As we mentioned earlier, Idle Heroes is surprisingly complex. You cannot just throw together the first few heroes you find and expect to get far in this game. You will need to take time to build the perfect team in order to progress further. If you are lucky enough to get a lot of native 5-star heroes, then that’s good. Until then, you will need to strategically utilize your 4-star heroes. Don’t bother with those that are three stars or less. They will quickly become useless in the game, and their primary purpose is really just for crafting and upgrading.

idle heroes tactics

For a long time after you start playing, you will be relying mostly on 4-star heroes. If you invest in them, you will eventually be able to transform them into 5-star heroes. Keep in mind, however, that native 5-stars will still be stronger than those that were just evolved. With that said, you have no choice but to invest in 4-stars until you are able to complete a 5-star lineup.

Do not be afraid to replace a 4-star, or even an evolved 5-star with a native 5-star hero. It is better for you to divert all your investments to a new native 5-star than continue wasting money on an evolved one that will eventually become obsolete. If you somehow summon a rare hero, always choose to keep them over the non-rare heroes regardless of how much you have already invested on the existing ones.

5. How To Get 5-Star Heroes

After we have talked about how special native 5-star heroes are, you are probably itching to get your hands on one. There are several ways for you to get a 5-star hero, but they all require patience and a bit of luck. The first option is to use the 10 Heroic Summons option which gives you heroes at a discounted price at 2,200 diamonds, as well as a slightly higher chance to summon a native 5-star.

Don’t forget that you also get a free Heroic Summon every two days. Make sure you take advantage of this as much as you can. The two-day timer will not start until you claim the free summon, so check back at least every two days to avoid wasting freebies.

Other options include basic and friendship summons, completing certain stages in Campaign Mode, climbing the Tower of Oblivion, and spinning the Wheel. These are mostly luck-based, but if you are persistent enough, you will eventually get the native 5-star hero you have been dreaming of.

6. Picking 4-Star Heroes

While you are still waiting for that 5-star lineup, you will need to pick a good 4-star team to play the game with. However, not all 4-star heroes are created equal. Some are better than others, and it will be your job to determine which ones to keep. It is a good idea to carefully read the stats and abilities of each hero before making a decision to invest in them as part of your team. If you are looking for recommendations, however, there are a few that stand out.

Our first recommendation is Fegan. He is a reliable tank who is also good at buffing and debuffing. Bone General is also a good addition to your 4-star team because he is a good damage dealer that can also serve as a second tank. Finally, Bonecarver is an excellent assassin who deals damage while gaining armor at the same time.

It is important to remember that the game regularly buffs and nerfs heroes in order to maintain balance. Make sure you pay attention to updates and keep track of the stats of other heroes as some new 4-star contenders might rise in the future.

7. Don’t Forget Your Quests

Despite being an idle game, there are a lot of things for you to actively do here as well. When you log in for the day, focus on completing all the daily quests. They are relatively easy to complete, and you should be done with then in a few minutes. After the quests, you can go on to work on the different battles such as Arena fights, Guild battles, the Tower of Oblivion, and so on. Making all of these parts of your daily routine will help you gain the resources and the experience you need in order to become a top player.

8. Play The Campaign Mode

The Campaign mode is one thing that you should not neglect in Idle Heroes. This is where you can get various equipment for your heroes. Try to progress in Campaign mode as much as you can. The further you go, the better the rewards will be. The good news is that you can use the idle mechanics to farm in this mode.

If you are looking for a specific equipment, you just need to set the campaign mission to a stage that drops what you are looking for. You can just go to the blacksmith to craft better items from what you are able to loot, so you can just keep farming what you can. If you are fine with any type of equipment, however, then you just need to select one of the most recent boss battles to get a lot of loot.

9. Challenge The Aspen Dungeon

The Aspen Dungeon is a dungeon that is only available every 48 hours. Once it appears, it will only be open for 48 hours. Players can only choose a maximum of five heroes to enter the dungeon. On top of that, only one hero can fight in each wave of enemies. The goal is to defeat as many waves as possible during the 48-hour window.

Heroes do not regenerate health in between waves, so there is a good chance that your team will be wiped out long before the 48-hour time limit of the Aspen Dungeon is over. There is a small chance that a potion or a merchant could appear after defeating a wave, but that is not something you should depend on. Listed below are a few things you need to remember if you want to get far in the dungeon.

Max Out Your Heroes

The dungeon will only utilize the stats of the heroes upon entering the dungeon. Since it lasts 48 hours, there is a chance you might level up the heroes or change equipment during that time. It won’t matter for the dungeon, so make sure you pick heroes that are already wearing the best gear, and are already maxed out in terms of level. Otherwise, just accept the fact that your team will not be fighting at full strength. If you don’t have a full team of maxed out heroes, just choose your strongest ones and hope you will be able to get far.

Pick Healing Heroes

Since there is no way to regenerate health in between waves, the only chance your heroes have for survival is to use healing skills. Try to choose strong heroes that have the ability to heal themselves in some way, so they can stay alive longer. The goal is to keep your heroes from dying as much as possible. The waves are endless, so if given a choice between killing an enemy and healing, choose to heal first. The only way to heal in between rounds is through the use of potions that will randomly drop from the dungeon.

Use Potions Wisely

As we mentioned above, there is a chance that you will get potions from time to time. That does not mean you should use them right away. If the potion will heal more than your current missing health, it might be better to hold on to it for a while. This is especially true for Angel Potions. Try to save your Angel Potions for when your hero’s health is at 10-15% in order to maximize its healing power. Of course, if there is a chance that your hero will die in the next round before you can use the potion, then prioritize the hero’s life. Never start a round with less than 10% health unless you are absolutely out of potions. Doing so will most likely be a death sentence for your hero.

Drink Boost Potions Immediately

Boost potions give your heroes permanent increases in either Speed, Power, or Critical. Make sure you use them right away because there is no benefit to holding off when it comes to these potions. You can only use up to a maximum of 20 boost potions in a dungeon, so don’t panic if you are unable to use new ones later on.

Use Demon Potions Against Healers

If you are up against a wave of healers, you might be frustrated by the fact that they are just so hard to take down. A good strategy for defeating a healer wave is by taking advantage of the special effect of Demon Potions. These potions heal your hero by 50% of their health plus gives extra energy. The secret behind this trick is that energy gains stack on heroes. That means if you already have a hero at full energy, using a Demon Potion on him will make him deal massive damage due to the excess energy. Utilize this in order to take down healers before they can recover!

Hope For The Potion Bug

This is not really something you have control over, but there is a rare bug that happens to Milk Potions where they get carried over to the next Aspen Dungeon after all your heroes die. That means you will have a huge advantage in the next dungeon. Try to save some Milk Potions if you can spare them, or if you have already given up on the current dungeon. The chances of getting bugged are slim, but you can’t win the lottery if you don’t have any potions left over.

10. Check The Prophet Tree

The Prophet Tree allows you to summon random heroes, but you will need to earn the chance to do so. You can get it by completing Tavern quests, or by purchasing from the marketplace. Either way, keep in mind that the chances of a rare card dropping from the Prophet Tree are pretty low. Most shards from different factions have a 9% chance of getting a hero, with a 25% chance of just acquiring shards. The Light and Dark factions are even harder to secure, with a 4% chance of getting a hero, and 28% of summoning shards. The odds are low, but the good thing about the tree is that you can choose which faction to draw from. In the event that you get lucky, you will be able to get a hero from the faction that you need.

11. Join An Active Guild

Idle Heroes has a guild system that can be useful for gathering more heroes. Guilds have their own marketplace. If you have enough funds, you will be able to purchase summon shards from the guild’s marketplace. Before you get too excited, though, you should know that 5-star heroes can be very costly if you are going to acquire them from the guild. It may take a while for you to get what you need, so just be patient.

12. How To Win In Ranked Battles

Ranked battles determine your position in the leaderboards. You will be going up against some of the best players from around the world, so it is important that you prepare well. Even though you are free to play according to your style, there are still some things that you need to remember in order to ensure your victory in ranked battles. One of the most important factors that can affect your rank is your lineup. The best lineup is continuously evolving, and you should adjust your own team as you progress in the game.

idle heroes pvp arena

During the earlier parts of the game, when you still have just a few options, you will need to find a lineup that does not require too much investment. Most of the heroes that you have in the early game will become obsolete by the time you hit your stride, so you can’t spend too much resources on them. Make sure you get Norma by registering your account because your team will rely heavily on her. Spend your resources on upgrading Norma as much as you can, then spend what is left over on the rest of your heroes. Arrange your heroes in such a way that they are lined up according to health, with the beefiest ones up front. Place Norma at the back because you want her to survive the longest.

Once you reach mid-game, things will start to drastically change. At this point, you should have already ditched your 4-star team and collected numerous 5-stars. Your next focus should be on getting a 6-star hero. Try to participate in the different events that are held in-game. These will give you the chance to get 5-star heroes as well as materials for your 6-star. At this point, one tank in your lineup should be enough. Just arrange the rest of the heroes according to their health still.

By the time you hit late game, you should already be working on your star heroes. The goal is, of course, to have a full 10-star lineup. However, you need to know that this is the most difficult stage of the game. Prepare yourself because progress will be excruciatingly slow. Just get your 6-start heroes and work to get them all to 10 stars. Warriors become more useful in this stage, so look into the possible changes in lineup as well.

13. Create Better Heroes

When you don’t feel like leaving things to chance, you can always create heroes. Just go to the Creation Circle in order to make stronger heroes. The heroes that can be created, however, are limited, and they have specific requirements. You will need to have the heroes needed in the creation recipe before you can make the heroes that you want. Make sure you check out the recipes ahead of time, so you don’t accidentally throw away any of the required heroes that you might need. You should also remember that you will lose all of the heroes that you will use as sacrifice during creation. If they are part of your current team, it might be a good idea to find a replacement before you use them as sacrifice.

14. When To Sacrifice At The Altar

The Altar allows you to sacrifice heroes in order to become stronger. As with creation, any heroes you sacrifice will be lost, so it is important that you pay attention to who you are sacrificing. It is usually alright to sacrifice 3-star heroes and below since they are not useful anywhere else. Once you have a full lineup, you could also start sacrificing 4-star heroes for better gains.

It is time to assemble your team and conquer the world in Idle Heroes! Just stick to the strategy guide above, and you will be unbeatable!

Also buy any 3 stars in the market with gold if you have enough so u can save them as shards and use them when you need them and they won’t take hero space.

Good guide except for number 14. Keep all 3 stars and 4. Dont summon them with shards unless you need them immediately.

when you eventually reach the hero limit... you will have to start sacrificing 3 stars also, the ones that you don't focus on the creation circle

Agreed. I was always disassembling any hero less than 4-star, then I realized you need the 3-stars for the Creation circle. While Dissembling heroes gets you resources instantly, dissembling 3-stars and up isn’t wise for the long-run.
