Hempire is a new mobile game for iOS and Android devices that, as you may infer from the title alone, focuses on your adventures as a marijuana grower. This is your chance to go “from ganja to glory,” as you grow new and unusual strains of weed, making friends and enemies along the way, and, at the very end, taking control of your home city. And while the in-game world assumes that marijuana has gone 100 percent legal, you’ve still got some challenges to deal with. For instance, you’ve got corrupt policemen watching your every move, as well as shady businessmen who want in on the profits you’re making. There’s also a multiplayer mode here – the Hempire Cup – where you compete with virtual weed growers from all over the world, in hopes of breeding the highest-quality strain.
Although you may be eager to start growing more strains and earning money from those strains in an in-game universe where pot is legal, it’s not easy making it to the top and taking over your home city. Read on and check out our Hempire tips and tricks if you need help getting started – before reaching your ultimate goal, you’ll have to start out small, and these tips just might help you make the most out of your first few days playing the game.
1. Simplify Your Life With Quick Select
If you notice the bottom right of your screen, you’ll notice the four buttons in that corner – these are shortcuts to the various facilities in your weed plantation, and all you need to do is hit the respective button if you want to get to a facility quickly and efficiently. You’ll see shortcuts to your house and your lab, and if you want to get to the growing lab quickly, it’s as easy as hitting the bottom-most button. This is the quick select area, and you’ll want to use it regularly so you could closely monitor your plants and water them, while taking care of other tasks within your Hempire.
2. Don’t Take Your Eyes Off The Game
In Hempire, it’s important that you’re always paying close attention to what’s going on while you’re growing more strains of weed. And while many games will work for you in the background and free you up to do other things, that isn’t necessarily the case all of the time in this game. While you’re growing plants, you should be as hands-on as possible. Each time you harvest a plant that’s fully grown, you’ll get some bonus bud, depending on how you’ve grown the plant – to be specific, that’s how well you’ve watered it. Each of the plants have specific waiting times in between watering, and if you take too long, you won’t have to wait too long the next time you have to water that plant. But that might prevent you from properly watering the plant; water it right and you’ll get at least five bonus buds on most occasions. Make sure the game is always open while you’re growing; that way, you’re always “on call” when something needs watering.
3. Increase Your Mastery
While we could mention this as a bonus tip for not taking your eyes off the game, we believe we should mention this separately, as it deals with the mastery mechanic. Hitting all the right watering times and growing a plant perfectly would increase your mastery for that plant, and as you increase your mastery, you’ll get a permanent increase in the number of buds you could get. That also improves your odds of finding Epic Buds, which makes it doubly important never to miss a watering.
4. Always Complete Deals With Items As The Reward
Hempire will allow you to choose from a number of deals, or tasks, which you can fulfill in exchange for some nice rewards. But it’s also important that you know what those rewards are before you take on a task. Most of the time, you’ll only get cash and XP for completing a deal, but there are some tasks where you can get hardware supplies, among other more important items, as your prize. You want to prioritize these tasks ahead of others, as the rewards would sometimes include rarer items. Planks and nails, for instance, are required if you’re trying to expand your shed. And while it is possible to fix benches and get these two items, many have observed that it’s better to close a deal than to keep fixing benches; using the latter approach, it’s much harder to get those planks and nails.
In short, you should work on deals that reward you with items before those deals that only earn you cash or XP, unless you’re rather short on in-game money. There’s a better way for you to earn cash, and we shall be explaining that a couple tips from now.
5. How To Grow Your Plants Smartly
Before we tell you what to do here, you should know that Handy Mandy’s shop will be one of the first buildings to be unlocked after the tutorial. Once you visit this shop, Mandy will upgrade some of your shed and growing house’s features, and you’ll also unlock some new features, such as a temperature unit. This becomes available after you’ve installed the lights, which provide those all-important passive bonuses to your plants. Going back to the temperature unit, this would allow you to change the indoor temperature within your growing house, which would in turn let you choose the right temperature range for a specific plant. Keeping this in mind, one of the best ways to make sure you make the most out of your harvest is to plant more than one of the same plant, thus allowing you to grow multiples of a kind under the same ideal temperature.
6. Take Advantage Of Weed On Wheels
Once you’ve reached a certain point in Hempire, you’ll be relying on Wanda’s deals quite a lot for cash. The deals she offers are, truth be told, quite similar to the standard deals on the street, but the difference here is that you’ve only got so much time to complete them. You also won’t be getting bonus items, but the good thing here is that you can get a ton of cash – much more than you would via standard deals – once the deals have been closed. Also take note that slots for Wanda’s deals have a 10 minute cool down time, thus making it imperative that you complete her deals as soon as they become available.
