Goon Squad Beginner’s Guide: 5 Tips & Tricks You Need to Know

Sometimes, the best way to kill boredom is a good old-fashioned brawl, mobster style. Goon Squad is a multiplayer, card-based brawler from Atari, that’s now available for iOS and Android devices. The game lets you assemble your own mob, and fight battles with them in order to take over territories and win safes. Collect stronger goon cards in order to build the ultimate mob. You can team up with other players to create a family of mobs, or you can crush the competition by climbing through the ranks. There are several game modes to choose from, including a four-player free-for-all battle called Last Man Standing. Do you have what it takes to become a mobster boss? Check out our Goon Squad tips and tricks if you don’t want to end up swimming with the fishes!

1. Team Up With Other Mobs

Forming an alliance with other mobs can be crucial to your survival in the game. You can ask for protection from fellow members if you join a squad. Doing this will give you boosts during battle. The boosts are even better if you are protected by a high-level player. When you reach higher levels, others will start asking for protection from you as well. Do not hesitate to help them out because you will be able to get some of their rewards by giving them your protection.

2. Upgrade Your Main Cards

Goon Squad has hundreds of cards available for you to unlock. Once you have a considerable collection, you will need to be able to prioritize which cards to upgrade. As a general rule, it is best if you stick to upgrading only the cards that you will use often.

3. How To Build A Deck

Building a deck is the most important stage of the game as it will determine the outcome long before you put down your first unit. Create a balanced deck that is prepared for most scenarios so that you don’t get stumped during battle. Get to know each of your cards so that you can come up with a good strategy. Also, try to keep costs to a minimum. Despite the impressive stats of costly units, I will take them forever to get sent out. Most of the time your enemies will already be at your headquarters before you can even send out one expensive unit.

4. Queue Up Your Safes

Safes are like treasure boxes in this game. They contain cards that can be used as part of your team. It takes some time to open a safe so make sure you always have them queued up, especially before going to bed. Try to save the safes that have the highest timer for last. Queue up the safes with high timers just when you are about to log off from the game so that you can let it simmer until you log back in the next day.

5. Pick One Game Mode

There are several game modes available but you don’t have to play them all. Just try them a few times and pick the one that best suits your playstyle. There isn’t much impact if you choose to play one game mode or another so just go with what you find most enjoyable. You can also switch things up once in a while to keep things interesting.
