Dune! is a unique arcade game from Voodoo where you just need to roll a ball over a sand dune to launch it in the air and have it jump over a bar. This iOS-exclusive game may seem simple at first, but it gets a lot more complex, the longer you play. The goal is to get the highest score possible. In order to do that, you will need to make consecutive successful jumps with the ball. It’s not an easy feat to accomplish since the bar gets higher every time you make a jump. 1. Use The Terrain
There are different parts of the terrain that can help you if you know what to do with them. To start off, sharp peaks are the best for launching the ball into the air since they will give you the most height. The rounded peaks are better used for building up momentum. Just be careful when launching from a rounded peak because you might get too much air and hit the next peak. When landing, try to hit the round hills so you can smoothly roll off towards their valleys. Keep in mind that you can experiment with the terrain all you want but you will only earn points once you go over the bar.
2. Practice Your Timing
As we mentioned above, timing is crucial in this game. The controls are simple. You tap and hold to gain speed, release to launch into the air, then tap and hold again to dive back down. It all looks so simple in writing but it can be insanely difficult if you don’t time your moves well. After you tap and hold the first time, you need to wait until you are at the top of a peak before you release in order to get a good launch. You will then have to master the timing of diving back down so that you can sustain your momentum without hitting an incline. The good news is that you can slow down, or even stop, while playing to get your focus back. Try to relax before going for another jump if you feel you are getting frustrated.
3. Try Swiping
A good way for you to get a better feel for the movement of the ball is to move along with it. You don’t need to hold your finger in place in order for the ball to keep moving. As long as your finger is not lifted from the screen, it is still considered a hold. Try following the ball’s movement with your finger so that you can better estimate the timing of the release instead of just depending on visuals.
4. How To Get More Points
Going over the line is the basic expectation so you only get one point every time you successfully do so. If you want to really rake in the points, you need to work on your landing. One smooth landing gives you a 2x multiplier, while two consecutive smooth landings will give you a 4x bonus. Keep in mind, however, that you still need to go over the line in order for the multiplier to work. You can also get a bonus from making very high jumps so feel free to aim way above the line every time.
