Disney Frozen Adventures Beginner’s Guide: Tips, Cheats & Tricks to Complete More Levels

Frozen is possibly one of the most popular animated films of the decade, and its sequel has just premiered worldwide. If you just can’t get enough of Elsa and the gang, Disney Frozen Adventures is for you! This brand new match-three puzzle game for Android and iOS features all your favorite characters from both films. Elsa and Anna are planning the ultimate celebration, but they need help.

That’s where you come in. You will need to solve hundreds of match-three puzzles in order to help them decorate the castle, find missing items, and prepare food for the guests. It’s basically Gardenscapes with a Frozen theme. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a walk in the park. The puzzles get harder as you progress, so you can’t just randomly match tiles. Check out our Disney Frozen Adventures beginner’s guide for tips, cheats and tricks to complete more levels in the game!

1. Know Your Special Tiles

Any match-three veteran would be familiar with special tiles. For those who are new to the genre, however, they may seem confusing. Special tiles are created when you combine four or more pieces of the same color. The special tile created depends on the number and position of pieces you combined. When you use these special tiles, they have an added effect that will help you clear puzzles faster. Check out the list below to learn more about each special tile.

Line Bomb: This is created by combining four tiles in a row or column. If you combine four in a row, you will create a horizontal Line Bomb that clears and entire row when used. If you combine four in a column, you will create a vertical Line Bomb that clears and entire column.

Area Bomb: This is created by combining five tiles in a T or L shape. As the name suggests, it makes the area around it explode, destroying multiple tiles in the process.

Butterfly: The Butterfly is created by combining four tiles in a square shape. When used, it destroys four tiles around it then flies to a random location to destroy an additional tile. Butterflies always fly to pieces required by your goal, so these are always useful.

Rainbow Snowflake: This is created by combining five tiles in a row or column. Swapping this with another tile will destroy all tiles on the board that have the same color.

2. Combine Special Tiles For Bigger Effects

Special tiles are normally activated by swapping them with another tile. What happens when you swap it with another special tile? The effects are combined and amplified. When you combine a Line Bomb with an Area Bomb, three columns and three rows are destroyed. When you combine a Butterfly with any other special tile, it will fly to a random location and take the other tile with it, making the other bomb explode at a better location. Combining any bomb with a Rainbow Snowflake will create multiple instances of the bomb all over the board then detonate them all at once.

You can also combine two of the same bombs for amplified effects. Combining two Line Bombs will destroy a column and a row in a cross-shaped pattern. Two Area Bombs will create a bigger explosion. Swapping two Butterflies will destroy more tiles and create an extra Butterfly that will also fly to a random location. Combining two Rainbow Snowflakes will clear the entire board.

3. Prioritize Your Goals

When you are working on a puzzle, you will see the list of your goals on the left side of the screen. Make sure you pay attention to your goal and the number of moves you have remaining. The game does not have a time limit, so you can take all the time you need when planning your next move. If you run out of moves, however, you will fail the puzzle. It might be tempting to keep creating special tiles and watch them explode, but don’t get carried away. Make sure every move you make brings you a step closer to completing all your goals.

4. Choose The Right Character

Elsa isn’t the only character with powers in Disney Frozen Adventures. Anna and Olaf can also help you out with their powers. To activate character abilities, you just need to fill up the snowflake gauge at the bottom left corner of the screen. Combining light blue tiles will fill up the gauge. Once it is full, your chosen character will add two special tiles on the board.

Elsa adds two Line Bombs on the board. Anna adds two Area Bombs. Olaf adds two Butterflies. While it may seem like Anna has the best skill, it actually depends on the board and the goal. If you have a board that is split into different parts, Olaf’s Butterflies may be more useful. If the goal is to cover the entire board, Elsa’s Line Bombs will travel farther. Keep in mind, however, that not all stages will allow you to choose from the three. When you are given a choice, though, the game will also suggest a character. Feel free to go with that suggestion unless you have a different strategy in mind.

5. Save Your Moves

Even if you are confident that you will be able to complete a puzzle, you shouldn’t go wasting your moves just to watch some sparkly explosions. Every move you do not use will be converted to gold at the end of the puzzle. This may not seem like much when you are starting out since the puzzles are easy and you always have plenty of leftover moves. However, once you progress further in the game, you will find that moves are harder to save. Since there is no way to go back to easier puzzles, you won’t be able to farm for gold. The best thing to do is to save up as much as you can in the easy levels, so that you will have enough gold when you need it later on.

6. Use Your Boosters Sparingly

Boosters are consumable items that can help you solve puzzles. These can add special tiles to your board, clear specific tiles, and so on. Unfortunately, you don’t get a lot of them for free. Once you use up all your free boosters, you will have to spend a lot of gold to purchase them. Since gold is hard to come by, it is better that you sacrifice lives than spend boosters in lower levels. The only time you should use a booster is if you have repeatedly failed a level, and you are sure that a booster will allow you to finally complete it.

For the same reason, you should also avoid spending gold to continue a failed level. You will need to spend a lot of gold and all you get is 5 extra moves. It is better if you just lose a life and try again in case you get better luck with the tiles.

7. Don’t Claim Treasure Boxes Right Away

Whenever you move to a new room or location, you will notice a bar at the top of the screen with milestones marked by treasure boxes. This bar fills up as you decorate the different parts of the room. Since you decide when to spend your points in decorating the rooms, you will be able to control when you can claim these boxes. Make sure you have plenty of time to play before claiming them, though.

Treasure boxes often give out unlimited lives for a period of time. This timer progresses even if you are not logged into the game. If you receive unlimited lives for an hour, and you suddenly have to stop playing, the reward will be wasted.

8. Complete Quests For Rewards

Quests are additional tasks that you need to complete in between locations. You don’t get to decorate anything during quests, but the basic concept is the same. You solve puzzles to earn points then spend those points to complete quests. Once you complete a quest, don’t forget to tap on the paper icon on the bottom left corner of the screen in order to claim your reward. Rewards often include boosters that can help you clear levels faster.

9. How To Change Decorations

Part of the charm of Disney Frozen Adventures is that you get to decorate the different rooms. You are given three choices for every part that you decorate. What if you change your mind later on and decide that you want to go with a different option? Just tap and hold on the section you want to change. The three options will reappear, and you will be able to make changes without additional costs.

10. Log In Every Day For Rewards

Similarly to other mobile games these days, Disney Frozen Adventures gives out rewards for every day that you log in. Logging in for consecutive days will give you better rewards, with a great reward waiting for you on the 7th consecutive day. Unfortunately, if you miss one day, the rewards will be reset to Day 1. Make sure you don’t miss logging in even if you don’t have time to play, just so your daily rewards will keep progressing.
