Day R Survival Beginner’s Guide: Tips, Cheats & Strategies to Survive Longer

You wake up alone and without any memories. What will you do? Day R Survival puts you in the shoes of a man who somehow survives the apocalypse. You set out to discover the truth behind the world’s end in hopes of finding fellow survivors and recovering your memory. Available on Android and iOS, the game does a great job of providing a post-apocalyptic experience. You will have to scavenge for food, water, and other resources in order to survive your journey.

Craft various equipment in order to prepare yourself for surprise attacks from wild animals and other creatures. Hunger and thirst are the least of your problems. Danger lurks in every corner, and it is only a matter of time before you succumb to death. Of course, that will only happen if you don’t have a plan. It’s a good thing our Day R Survival guide comes with a bunch of tips, cheats and strategies. We are here to help you stay alive!

1. Choose Your Game Mode Wisely

day r survival tips

When you launch Day R Survival for the first time, you will be asked to choose one of the four modes. These are Sandbox, Real-Life, Superhard, and Online. Sandbox mode is perfect for beginners and casual players. Real-Life mode is for veteran players who want a bit more of a challenge. Superhard is for experts. We recommend that you hold off from playing this mode until your second playthrough. Finally, the Online mode lets you interact with other players. Keep in mind, however, that there is no Save option for Online mode. That means if you mess up, you will not be able to backtrack from your last Save. Choose your game mode wisely as it will determine your overall enjoyment of the game.

2. Log In Every Day Your Rewards

As with most other mobile games these days, you will receive rewards for every day that you log in. You don’t even really need to play if you’re too busy. Just log into the game and claim your reward. The game gives out food, resources, tools, and equipment as daily rewards. You also get better rewards when you log in for consecutive days. Tap on the arrow buttons on either side of the Daily Login screen to see the rewards for other weeks.

3. Know Where To Search

day r survival cheats

Walking from one location to another takes time, so it is best if you have a purpose for every move you make. There are a lot of places where you can search, and each one drops different loot. The loot is usually related to the type of building you are raiding. You would usually want to raid restaurants, cafes, or canteens in order to get food and water. Pharmacies, infirmaries, and hospitals contain medical supplies like painkillers, bandages, and ointments. For equipment, you can search armories, tailor shops, and similar structures. Ruined buildings are usually good for getting scraps that you need for crafting.

When you are outside of towns, you can get wood, fruits, and herbs from the forest. Water can be harvested from any lake, river, or ocean. Flint is an essential material for a lot of your basic tools, and you can find it when searching Roads. Figure out what you want to prioritize depending on your character’s needs and plan your moves accordingly.

4. Craft A Lot

When you tap on the Designs button on the lower right corner of the screen, you will notice that a lot of the items are greyed out. That’s because you will need to level up that particular skill category before you can unlock better designs. The most straightforward way to level up your skills is to keep using them. Cook a lot of food in order to earn Cooking experience, craft weapons to gain Mechanics experience, and so on. The higher your skill level, the more sophisticated the items you will be able to craft.

If you enter a town that has a library in it, make sure you search it for a Manual. There are manuals for each skill category and reading them will give you plenty of experience. This is an easier way to level up your skills, but they are hard to come by, so never pass up a chance to pick up a Manual.

5. Sleep With The Lights On

It doesn’t matter where you sleep, always make sure you have a light source. Sleeping without a light increases the risk of being raided while you sleep. When this happens, you will lose several precious items. It’s hard enough to scavenge for your basic necessities. Don’t let those pesky rats run away with your loot!

One thing to keep in mind when sleeping beside a fire is to avoid doing this inside buildings. There is a high risk of setting a building on fire when you start a bonfire indoors. When a building burns down, all the potential loot disappears and there is a risk of dropping some of your items as your character runs to safety.

6. How To Win Battles

When you enter battle, you will be asked to choose up to three weapons. You will see the type of opponents you will have, so you can select your weapons accordingly. If you have multiple enemies clustered together, you can wipe them all out quickly with a grenade. If you have ranged opponents, you can grab a gun or a crossbow, so you can retaliate if they attack from afar. If you have a bunch of low-level enemies, you can just choose auto-battle, or take a weak weapon with you to preserve the durability of your stronger weapons.

If all your enemies are melee, it is better if you wait for them to come to you. This will allow you to generate action points, so that you can unleash multiple attacks once they are within range. There is also a chance that they might step over some traps that will deal damage or even kill them before they get to you.

Finally, it is important to know when to run. If you are clearly outmatched, it is better if you look for the door icon on the field and start heading towards it. Just make sure you avoid any dangerous icons like the poisonous mushroom or the mines. Once you get to the door icon, just choose the escape option to run away.

7. Beware of Injuries

If you took damage during a battle, there is a chance that you will be injured. You will see a red cross icon on the top left of your screen. Tap on it to see the injuries and illnesses that you have. There will also be a list of items you need to heal your condition. If you have all the items, you can choose to heal yourself immediately. If you don’t, you will have to wait out the specified amount of time for the injury to heal on its own.

Outside of battles, there is also a chance for you to catch different diseases. The highest risk for catching a disease is when you eat contaminated food. Always check the description of the food items in your inventory. Canned food is always safe to eat, but when in a pinch, you can cook meat that you harvested from wild animals in order to minimize the risk of disease.

8. Watch Your Weight

When you pick up items, you will notice that they always have weight in their description. That’s because you can only carry a certain weight. You can carry more if you have a bag with you, but it is still a good idea to be practical in what you pick up. You will see a load percentage at the top of the screen whenever you are picking up items. When it hits 100%, you won’t be able to move. It is best if you stick to picking up only food, water, and medical supplies.

A few light crafting items like flint, tape, nails, and so on can also make the cut if you want. Leave the heavier items like wood and scraps unless you are ready to build something. Keep in mind that you don’t actually need to have the items in your inventory in order to craft. If you are in the same location as the materials, you will still be able to create the item. You can just bring all the items you need to a safe location then begin crafting.

9. Check Your Radiation Levels

day r survival radiation levels

Before you enter a town, you will see a radiation symbol and a number beside it. If there is no radiation symbol, you can stay in town for as long as you want. The higher the number beside the symbol, the faster the increase in your radiation level. You can see your radiation level at the bottom center of your screen. Once that number hits 10, you will start to lose health. When your health reaches zero, your character will die.

You can lower your radiation levels by simply leaving town and walking it off. You can also consume items that lower radiation like water, red wine, and tratodonide. If you want to be able to stay in radiation zones longer, you should equip a gas mask, respirator, and other similar gear.

10. Finding Your Destination

If you got carried away with crafting and searching, you can easily check where you need to go by tapping on the Quests button on the lower left of your screen. You will see a list of your quests along with a description of what needs to be done. If you aren’t sure where you need to go, you just need to tap on the View on Map button and a green arrow will point you in the right direction. You can simply tap on the walk button to automatically go to your next destination.

11. Save Whenever You Can

There are a lot of random events in the game, especially when you play in Real-Life and Superhard modes. You never know when you will die by some freak accident, so it is best if you save as often as you can. Unfortunately, you will only be able to save at Save Points if you are playing the free version of the game. You can find the nearest Save Point by tapping on the Save Point button when the warning pops up.

12. Craft A Vehicle

day r survival crafting

The first vehicle you will probably be able to craft is a bicycle. It may not be much, but it beats travelling on foot. As you progress in the game, you will notice that your destinations keep getting further apart. Soon, you will have to travel past several towns before you can get to your next destination. You will also notice that Save Points become rare as you go further. You will find yourself having to travel hundreds of kilometers before reaching the nearest Save Point. A lot can happen before you get there, so it is better if you minimize the travel time by having a vehicle on standby.

13. Watch Ads For More Rewards

When you are scavenging in buildings, you will sometimes find a working TV. Tap on it and you will be given the option to watch an ad. Accept the offer and a video will play. After the video, you will be given a random reward. The random reward could be resources, food, and even advanced equipment. The working TV is a rare find, so make sure you take advantage of the offer every time it is available.

Aside from the working TV, you also get the option to watch an ad every 30 minutes in exchange for 20 Caps. Caps are the game’s premium currency and you can spend them to buy useful items from the in-game store. Just tap on the Shop button at the bottom of the screen then look for the button that says FREE at the top. Try to take advantage of this offer as often as you can because the items in the store are very expensive. You will need to watch a lot of ads before you can afford anything.

Should I set up a base? If so where should I?

@Retinazer Lazer,

At lower levels, only set up camps: a fire and/or a fire Some loot will be more valuable for you in later levels, such as fuel, building material, etc. Gather these at save site checkpoints. The story and gameplay will lead you towards the east of the map. By the time you get there, you will already be able to repair and drive cars, bc you will have leveled up enough for this to happen. You will also find some cities that have tranders, which might be useful for you and your building plans.

Only then start thinking about building a more permanent base, and if necessary, go back for some of the loot you left back in old save spots.
