The color by numbers trend is on the rise and it has made its way to mobile devices. Color Land adds its own twist to this trend by allowing you to paint with cubes instead of just colors. Available on Android and iOS platforms, Jelly Button’s exciting puzzle game gives you several maps to build. As you build up each map, you get to see sceneries and towns come to life. The more tiles you complete, the more locations you can unlock.
You will have hours of relaxing paint time ahead of you. Of course, just because a game is relaxing does not mean everything will be easy. There are a few things you could do in order to get the most out of the game. That’s where we come in. Check out our Color Land guide for tips, cheats and strategies below to learn everything you need to know and complete as many levels as possible!
1. Aim For Three Stars
Every time you build a tile, you have the potential to earn up to three stars. You have the option to stop after the first star but getting to three stars is easy, so you may as well do it. All you have to do is lay down all the available decorations. It costs coins to place decorations, but as soon as you complete them, you will be given three stars.
2. Don’t Be Afraid To Go Over
The game gives you a set of blocks that you can use to paint over specific locations. A tile starts out empty, with nothing but numbers on it. You fill in each number with the corresponding block from the bottom of the screen. You don’t need to carefully tap on each numbered tile in order to build. In fact, you can just swipe across the screen until you fill up the corresponding numbered blocks. It is not possible to accidentally fill a block with the wrong number, so don’t be afraid to make any mistakes here.
3. Accept The Free Decorations
As mentioned earlier, you need to lay down all decorations in order to get a three-star rating for a tile. The problem with this is that decorations cost coins to plop down. It can get pretty expensive over time. The good news is, once in a while, a pop up will offer you free decorations for a tile in exchange for watching a video advertisement. Always accept this offer. You may think you have plenty of coins in the beginning, but things get more expensive as you progress. You will need every freebie you can get your hands on if you don’t want to spend real money on the game.
4. Sharing Is Earning
While we are on the topic of getting things for free, another way to earn some free coins is by sharing. When you get your first star on each tile, a share button will appear on the bottom left corner of the screen. If you share your tile, you will be given 50 coins for free. It may not seem like much, but it piles up over time. You don’t even really need to share the tile if you are afraid of spamming your friends. All you have to do is tap on the share button then press the back button on your device. The share will be cancelled but you will still be credited 50 coins for your effort.
5. Use All Your Packs
Packs are used to start building on a new tile. You can hold up to 5 packs at a time. Once full, you will stop generating new packs. If you don’t have time to play, try logging in and starting a bunch of new tiles then just go back to the map. This will allow you to earn more free packs while you are away from the game. When you return, you will still be able to continue the tiles you started without having to spend new packs. If you can’t remember which tiles you opened up, just tap on the button with four squares in it at the bottom right of the screen. This will list down all the tiles available and the ones that you have already opened will have a box icon with a check mark on them. Just tap on the one you want to work on and you will be able to start painting without spending another pack.
6. Get More Free Packs
If you happen to be on a painting spree and you used up all your packs, there is still a way to keep playing. First, you will get a notification that you are out of packs. Along with that notification is an ad offer to get an extra pack in exchange for watching a video. Accept it and you will be able to get a free pack once the video ends.
Another way to get more free packs is to tap on the Free Pack button at the bottom left of the screen. It’s another ad offer that gives you one pack for every ad you watch. The only difference is you can watch consecutive ads in order to stock up on packs before going back to your painting spree.
7. Participate In Events
Events give you bonus rewards like coins and extra packs. There are different Events available in the game. The Style My Tile Event is available when you unlock specific maps. You will earn rewards based on the number of stars you collect after starting the event. You will see how far along you are towards getting a new reward by checking the star counter at the top left corner of the screen.
Another Event you can look forward to is the Tile Rush. This is a limited-time event where the goal is to complete a given number of tiles within a time limit. If you are able to complete the required number of tiles before the event ends, you win plenty of coins and packs.
8. How To Unlock New Maps
Stars are needed for unlocking new locations. Tap on the map icon at the bottom of the screen to see the list of maps. Each one is locked behind a star requirement. You will need to collect the required number of stars in order to unlock those new locations. Some locations will not be available even if you have the number of stars. Those are the ones marked as VIP. You will need to have a VIP subscription in order to access those maps.
9. Try The VIP Subscription
The VIP subscription costs real money, but you have the option to try it for free. It has a three-day trial period that you can cancel, so you don’t get charged. Before trying out the VIP option, try to collect enough stars first to access some of the VIP maps. It might take you a while to earn all those stars, and the VIP trial may end up expiring before you can get the stars you need to unlock them. Once you unlock the VIP trial, make sure you get the most out of it by playing the VIP maps consistently. Don’t forget to cancel the subscription just before the 72 hours expire because you won’t be able to get a refund if you accidentally get charged.
