Cat Quest Ultimate Guide: 4 Tips & Tricks to Become the Destined Cat Legend

Cute little cats and kittens are arguably the most adorable pets and everyone loves them but have you ever thought about the stray cats on the streets? Yes, contrary to what you might think, their lives are much more interesting than your pet kitten playing with a ball of yarn. And what if cats could fight monsters and battle huge dragons in a medieval era? Cat Quest brings the lives of these brave extraordinary cats to the screen of your smartphone so you can experience a new type of cat knighthood through the eyes of a dragonblood cat. The game has been developed and released by The Gentlebros Pte. Ltd. and receives regular updates and new features.

Cat Quest is available to download and play for $4.99 on iOS devices through the Apple iTunes App Store and is set to be released on Android devices as well in mid September of 2017. The game receives regular feedback and suggestions from players of all ages and The Gentlebros Pte. Ltd. games takes great care to introduce frequent new features into Cat Quest in accordance with these user reviews. The most recent such update occurred on 12 August 2017 which shows the level of dedication that the developers have regarding Cat Quest.

Cat Quest is a turn-based strategy game at its core but the developers have hidden all the complexities of the game mechanics under a veil of super funny cats and their tactics to survive in the dragon infested medieval era. You start alone as a new cat in the Kingdom and the main objective of the game is for you to build up the strength and knowledge of your cat hero in order to defeat the menacing dragons and to rid the land of its corrupted cat leaders. To aid you in the completion of this main objective, you have cat assistants and other features which will begin to unfold as you progress to the higher levels of the game. Cat Quest is a multiplayer strategy action game which means that you will have to keep your smartphone connected to the internet in order to avoid missing out on any new action happening around the cat community.

Unlike many other games on the App Store with similar attractive characters, Cat Quest is far from a simple kid’s game. Random based chance events that occur throughout the game make your job much harder and the chance that you will succeed in your mission starts decreasing rapidly as you progress to the higher levels of the game. The witty remarks from your instructor cat are also quite discouraging but they do motivate you to improve your game until you are glued to the screen of your smartphone for hours on end. Cat Quest has a sharp learning curve especially for players who are new to this genre of games. You need not worry however because this guide contains optimized tips and tricks to help you improve your skills as a powerful cat knight and hopefully become the Destined Dragonblood savior cat one day.

1. Learn To Fight and Loot

The main essence of Cat Quest revolves around the concept of taking from the powerful and using this to destroy them. When you start the game, you are instructed on how to obtain the required materials for your sustenance from the other town and village cats. Gold coins are the most powerful form of currency for cats and is the most essential requirement for survival as well as making upgrades in order to make your cat stronger and better. In addition, gold coins are needed to battle with rival cats and defeating them to get experience points and further gold coins. Experience points are another essential type of collectable that you can get whenever you attack and defeat a rival cat and these experience points automatically add up to your level up meter located in the top left hand corner of the screen of your smartphone. A higher level will allow for various upgrades and perks for your cat hero.

In Cat Quest, fighting with a rival cat is not as literal as it sounds. You will have to stealthily sneak up into the midst of your rival cats and then suddenly spring out in front of the cats in order to make them lose concentration of their surroundings giving you the perfect opportunity to strike on them. However, you must keep in mind that the best way to ensure continued survival for yourself and your tribe of cats is to learn how to loot and scoot. This is a gameplay strategy based solely on objective completion and collecting as many gold coins as you possibly can without spending on any needless side objectives. It might seem a little boring at first to only loot and get away without enjoying pouncing on any of your rival cats but you will be able to grow your strength and levels very fast using this strategy so much so that once you have become established, taking control of new villages and dungeons will be a source of much greater enjoyment for you.

Do not blindly try to steal from the enemy cat villages because even if you think you have a perfect opportunity, you might end up on the wrong end and cursing your luck. This is because Cat Quest has a very confusing random event generator which will work in your favor most of the times as indicated by the difficulty meter for any task but you might fail a certain task sometimes even though it may be marked as “easy” difficulty on the scale. Therefore, you need to be careful of this and these random failures will increase in frequency as you progress to higher levels and the defenses of your rival cats start getting more fearsome. Cat Quest is a game that tests your patience and decision making ability to the utmost level and if you are able to make careful and calculated decisions while keeping in mind the strength of your enemy cats and your own, you will always be able to use all of your figurative “nine” lives to your advantage and become a force to be reckoned within the cat kingdom.

2. Use Your Gold Coins Wisely

As you must have noticed by now obtaining gold coins is the most difficult task on any level but one that is very rewarding. Gold coins are used for a wide range of upgrades and unlocking new features for your cats as well as increasing the individual skills of your cats. These upgrades are beneficial to you and your tribe both from a gameplay ease point of view as well as establishing yourself as Lord of the valley cats much sooner. The very first upgrade that you will be able to unlock using a set amount of gold coins is the opportunity to equip better weapons for your cat hero. With the use of this upgrade you will be able to expand your cat weapon arsenal by choosing between powerful swords, fearsome axes and long rage spears. Similarly, you will be able to perform consecutive upgrades to your cat’s attributes as well as the cosmetics to help you gain an accelerated rate for your power expansion. This is very important to your cause because more powerful cats under your command has many benefits which range from being able to snatch a bigger loot to less fighting times when more of your crew is involved.

It is advised to spend your gold coins on the primary weapons and secondary weapon and to increase their level up to level 2 but do not waste your gold coins after this on successive upgrades of these two components. This is because the cost of gold coins to upgrade these components to level 3 and above is too high for the apparent benefit that they provide. Granted the higher levels will shorten the fighting times for the new cat members of your family but you can just as well wait the time period out or invest into more worthwhile upgrades which will provide you a much greater benefit for the amount that you spend. It is just not a worthwhile upgrade to spend so many of your hard earned gold coins on. Instead the best way to utilize your extra gold coins would be to spend them on improving the senses and skills of your individual cats and especially your primary dragonblood cat hero. Be mindful to never go for the Jack of all trades and master of none policy here.

This is because you will end up spending quite a lot of gold coins for a cat army that will be average at best at fighting and sustaining for long without being injured. Instead, you should always focus on making specialized units for each job. For example, your highest level cat which will most probably be your first dragonblood hero cat should be kept for pouncing and attacking on rival cats and not used in raids for looting gold coins. To this end you should enrich the highest level cat with fighting weapons and perks that will help him defeat the rival cats faster. If you send your highest level cat for looting gold coins, you might end up with a beaten up cat which could have taken on the enemy cats and won if he were the attacker.

Cat Quest allows you to switch freely between the members of your cat squad while you are on a mission so you can use this feature to your advantage by having cats with specific abilities and focus on improving those abilities alone rather than adding more to the mix. The best strategy is to create a balance between the cats that you use during each raid or attack. For example, if you use a level 5 cat to pick up a large gold coin stash, you should switch to your level 3 or 4 cat for the smaller stash which is easier to loot from a village or town. This will ensure that all of your cats will level up at a balanced rate and you end up with a well skilled and powerful cat army. Beware of the random chance of failure though because when you switch to a lower level cat you should never aim for the stash where the difficulty meter shows good to unlikely because higher level cats guarding the gold coin stashes will most definitely attack and beat you. Strategize like a true leader and you will be able to make the most of your time on Cat Quest.

3. Preparing For The Dragons

Just like any other survival strategy game, Cat Quest also introduces boss characters which are heavily overpowered as compared to the normal rival cats you are used to attacking and pouncing on. These boss levels are marked clearly on your map and menacing looking dragons appear on your map as soon as you zoom into their location and rightly so because they are very hard to defeat unless you improve highly upon the individual skills of your cats. For the purpose of defeating these boss dragons, it is highly recommended that you train one cat from the start with all the individual skill set that will enable you to handle fights with the boss dragons. The cat that best fits this role is your first or hero cat but you can tailor skills of other cats to switch into this role as well if you so decide.

The individual skill set that will get you wins most easily includes but is not limited to the “fast pounce”, “sharp claws”, “arcane mage” and “ferocious hunter” bonus upgrades which are unlocked and applied in exchange for a significant amount of gold coins. You need to keep track of the overall gold coins that you have and tally a total amount approximately equal to that required for these upgrades. Reserve this amount until you see the menacing red and black dragons appear on your map and hold back on any excessive spending until you reach that stage. It is also important to be vigilant of other players who might attempt to take on the boss dragons before you are able to. The boss dragons will still be available for you to attempt as a quest even after the other players have attacked them but you will be awarded much less points as bonus rewards after defeating them. Therefore always be ready and online to pounce on the first available opportunity and reap the maximum amount of rewards because defeating these menacing huge dragons is far from an easy task so you at least deserve to be well compensated for it.

The first dragon which you meet in the game will actually be quite easy for you to defeat and this is because it will be the lowest level dragon which accidentally wandered into the midst of unsuspecting village cats and started spreading destruction in the area. Usually you will be able to defeat this low difficulty dragon with a mix of melee strikes and using your magic special skill alternatively with a relatively low loss to your own health points. You can easily heal up after the fight with this first dragon by dozing off at any local town center. However, the subsequent dragons that you meet will be much harder to defeat. It is also pertinent to mention here that you should make it a habit to sleep regularly as dozing off at a local town center not only rejuvenates your cat hero but also completes the additional very important task of saving your progress in Cat Quest. It is absolutely essential for you to perform this save even when your cat hero is at full health. This is because if you forget or forego saving your progress because you feel your cat hero has enough health and mana to last another level, you will have nothing but regret when you are forced to start from the last checkpoint however far that may be. As of the current update, Cat Quest does not have an autosave feature and while this is a much requested feature by players of the game all over the world, until it is implemented into the game, you will have to stay cautious and save your progress regularly.

After playing Cat Quest for a respectable amount of time and progressing beyond a certain point of difficulty in the game, you will begin to recognize patterns and loopholes in the game which will help you to influence your progression in the game to a certain extent. For example, when you reach the second dragon which looks immensely terrifying and the in game cat assistant advises you to train and level up before even attempting to battle it, you can defeat it much sooner if you utilize a hidden loophole in the game. Contrary to what the game has you believe, attacking and defeating rival cats is not the only way to level up, gain experience points and increase the strength of your hero cat. The game operates in such a way that whenever you move your cat hero into the attackable radius of rival cats, a certain amount of experience points are added into your level up meter. This amount is almost negligible and very hard to notice when you are in the attackable radius of only 1 or 2 cats but when you have a large group of 9 to 10 cats, the experience share from just remaining in the attackable radius stacks up to quite a bit. The trick to exploit this hidden mechanism in Cat Quest is to move just into the radius of as large a group of cats as you can find on the map and to repeatedly move in and out of this radius. By following this procedure, you will be able to avoid fighting any cats as well as keep up your health bar at a good level for a much longer time. You can keep moving in and out of the attackable radius of large group of cats for as long as you want but typically a repetitive motion of 5 to 6 times will net you enough experience points to gain an entire level on your hero cat. Using this technique you can level up your hero cat very fast and without any danger of having to start over from the previous checkpoints as your cat hero will practically take zero damage while you are exploiting this loophole in the game. So plot like a cat and meow your way into the lair of even the most fearsome dragons of the land!

4. Achievements, Chests And Appearances

Cat Quest brings with it a truck load of achievements for you to track your progress and motivate you towards higher goals as you continue playing the game. Not only do these achievements serve as milestones for you to brag about to your friends and family, they have in-game benefits as well. When you complete a certain set of achievements you will be able to claim rewards against that achievements and you can track how much you have progressed with the other achievements in the progress menu. It is important that you do not lose track of your main gameplay strategy while chasing after these achievements because then you will not be able to create a balanced style of play. Just go with the flow and keep a track of your progress because it will be very hard for you to gain many of the achievements at earlier levels and you will lose valuable time and effort trying to achieve these unnecessary milestones. You should also focus on gaining gold coins through normal paths and save the claiming of achievements for when you are in real need of an influx into your balance. Claiming all the saved achievements at once will help make sure that you have a lot of gold coins available and this could possibly make a difference for defeating the dragon bosses or clearing a particularly difficult dungeon or mission.

Whenever you successfully defeat a dragon boss or clear a particularly difficult dungeon or mission, you will be granted with a reward chest which has a very small chance to contain an ultra rare upgrade for your cat hero, a normal chance at giving out customization items for your cat hero and a usual chance of giving bonus experience points or gold coins. The ultra rare upgrades which you might obtain if you get extremely lucky in the game include fireball magic knowledge upgrade, flaming swords and thunderous axes which will become part of your arsenal and you can equip your cat hero with these amazing weapons which deal a much higher damage output than normal weapons found in dungeons or purchased with gold coins. Mostly, you will get a certain random amount of gold coins from the chests though and these are equally useful in many cases especially when you have a dragon boss fight coming up and you badly need a large influx of gold coins to ensure your survival in Cat Quest.

Another interesting feature given by Cat Quest is the ability to customize the cats including the cat hero as well as cats that are part of your tribe which truly gives you a personalized feeling while playing the game. You will first be introduced to this feature of the game before you defeat the first boss of your career. The first customization will be a simple purple mage cap which looks as if it was taken from the trash but wear it with pride because you are a dragonblood cat and true knight cats wear anything found during survival as if it were precious jewelry. This initial customization might fool you into thinking that the developers have not really put too much thought into appearances but this is not the case. As you move to the higher levels and gain access to more gold coins you will be able to craft customization items of your own liking from a wide selection available to you. At this point you can have different outfits, wearable items and even weapons for every cat of your family. This will not only make the cats look much cooler and fun to play with, it will also make it much easier for you to keep track of the individual skills of the cats making pouncing and fighting much faster especially during the higher levels. If you are still not satisfied with the quality of in game customization available to you for free, the developers have given the option for you to purchase customization packs using real money through your iTunes balance. These packs include a variety of additional accessories and community made items for the cats. So let your inner cat out and Meow your way to fame and glory!
