2. Use Your Gold Coins Wisely
As you must have noticed by now obtaining gold coins is the most difficult task on any level but one that is very rewarding. Gold coins are used for a wide range of upgrades and unlocking new features for your cats as well as increasing the individual skills of your cats. These upgrades are beneficial to you and your tribe both from a gameplay ease point of view as well as establishing yourself as Lord of the valley cats much sooner. The very first upgrade that you will be able to unlock using a set amount of gold coins is the opportunity to equip better weapons for your cat hero. With the use of this upgrade you will be able to expand your cat weapon arsenal by choosing between powerful swords, fearsome axes and long rage spears. This is because you will end up spending quite a lot of gold coins for a cat army that will be average at best at fighting and sustaining for long without being injured. Instead, you should always focus on making specialized units for each job. For example, your highest level cat which will most probably be your first dragonblood hero cat should be kept for pouncing and attacking on rival cats and not used in raids for looting gold coins. To this end you should enrich the highest level cat with fighting weapons and perks that will help him defeat the rival cats faster. If you send your highest level cat for looting gold coins, you might end up with a beaten up cat which could have taken on the enemy cats and won if he were the attacker.
Cat Quest allows you to switch freely between the members of your cat squad while you are on a mission so you can use this feature to your advantage by having cats with specific abilities and focus on improving those abilities alone rather than adding more to the mix. The best strategy is to create a balance between the cats that you use during each raid or attack. For example, if you use a level 5 cat to pick up a large gold coin stash, you should switch to your level 3 or 4 cat for the smaller stash which is easier to loot from a village or town. This will ensure that all of your cats will level up at a balanced rate and you end up with a well skilled and powerful cat army. 3. Preparing For The Dragons
Just like any other survival strategy game, Cat Quest also introduces boss characters which are heavily overpowered as compared to the normal rival cats you are used to attacking and pouncing on. These boss levels are marked clearly on your map and menacing looking dragons appear on your map as soon as you zoom into their location and rightly so because they are very hard to defeat unless you improve highly upon the individual skills of your cats. For the purpose of defeating these boss dragons, it is highly recommended that you train one cat from the start with all the individual skill set that will enable you to handle fights with the boss dragons. The cat that best fits this role is your first or hero cat but you can tailor skills of other cats to switch into this role as well if you so decide.
The individual skill set that will get you wins most easily includes but is not limited to the “fast pounce”, “sharp claws”, “arcane mage” and “ferocious hunter” bonus upgrades which are unlocked and applied in exchange for a significant amount of gold coins. You need to keep track of the overall gold coins that you have and tally a total amount approximately equal to that required for these upgrades. Reserve this amount until you see the menacing red and black dragons appear on your map and hold back on any excessive spending until you reach that stage. It is also important to be vigilant of other players who might attempt to take on the boss dragons before you are able to. The boss dragons will still be available for you to attempt as a quest even after the other players have attacked them but you will be awarded much less points as bonus rewards after defeating them. Therefore always be ready and online to pounce on the first available opportunity and reap the maximum amount of rewards because defeating these menacing huge dragons is far from an easy task so you at least deserve to be well compensated for it.
The first dragon which you meet in the game will actually be quite easy for you to defeat and this is because it will be the lowest level dragon which accidentally wandered into the midst of unsuspecting village cats and started spreading destruction in the area. Usually you will be able to defeat this low difficulty dragon with a mix of melee strikes and using your magic special skill alternatively with a relatively low loss to your own health points. You can easily heal up after the fight with this first dragon by dozing off at any local town center. However, the subsequent dragons that you meet will be much harder to defeat. It is also pertinent to mention here that you should make it a habit to sleep regularly as dozing off at a local town center not only rejuvenates your cat hero but also completes the additional very important task of saving your progress in Cat Quest. It is absolutely essential for you to perform this save even when your cat hero is at full health. This is because if you forget or forego saving your progress because you feel your cat hero has enough health and mana to last another level, you will have nothing but regret when you are forced to start from the last checkpoint however far that may be. As of the current update, Cat Quest does not have an autosave feature and while this is a much requested feature by players of the game all over the world, until it is implemented into the game, you will have to stay cautious and save your progress regularly.
After playing Cat Quest for a respectable amount of time and progressing beyond a certain point of difficulty in the game, you will begin to recognize patterns and loopholes in the game which will help you to influence your progression in the game to a certain extent. For example, when you reach the second dragon which looks immensely terrifying and the in game cat assistant advises you to train and level up before even attempting to battle it, you can defeat it much sooner if you utilize a hidden loophole in the game. Contrary to what the game has you believe, attacking and defeating rival cats is not the only way to level up, gain experience points and increase the strength of your hero cat. The game operates in such a way that whenever you move your cat hero into the attackable radius of rival cats, a certain amount of experience points are added into your level up meter. This amount is almost negligible and very hard to notice when you are in the attackable radius of only 1 or 2 cats but when you have a large group of 9 to 10 cats, the experience share from just remaining in the attackable radius stacks up to quite a bit. The trick to exploit this hidden mechanism in Cat Quest is to move just into the radius of as large a group of cats as you can find on the map and to repeatedly move in and out of this radius. By following this procedure, you will be able to avoid fighting any cats as well as keep up your health bar at a good level for a much longer time. You can keep moving in and out of the attackable radius of large group of cats for as long as you want but typically a repetitive motion of 5 to 6 times will net you enough experience points to gain an entire level on your hero cat. When you complete a certain set of achievements you will be able to claim rewards against that achievements and you can track how much you have progressed with the other achievements in the progress menu. It is important that you do not lose track of your main gameplay strategy while chasing after these achievements because then you will not be able to create a balanced style of play. Just go with the flow and keep a track of your progress because it will be very hard for you to gain many of the achievements at earlier levels and you will lose valuable time and effort trying to achieve these unnecessary milestones. You should also focus on gaining gold coins through normal paths and save the claiming of achievements for when you are in real need of an influx into your balance. Claiming all the saved achievements at once will help make sure that you have a lot of gold coins available and this could possibly make a difference for defeating the dragon bosses or clearing a particularly difficult dungeon or mission.
Whenever you successfully defeat a dragon boss or clear a particularly difficult dungeon or mission, you will be granted with a reward chest which has a very small chance to contain an ultra rare upgrade for your cat hero, a normal chance at giving out customization items for your cat hero and a usual chance of giving bonus experience points or gold coins. The ultra rare upgrades which you might obtain if you get extremely lucky in the game include fireball magic knowledge upgrade, flaming swords and thunderous axes which will become part of your arsenal and you can equip your cat hero with these amazing weapons which deal a much higher damage output than normal weapons found in dungeons or purchased with gold coins.
