It would seem that Candywriter is planning something big for BitLife in the coming weeks, so if you’ve lost your previously saved lives, that’s the reason why — we may be talking about a host of new and/or improved features for the three-year-old life simulator game very soon. But while we’re waiting for that, the challenges keep coming along to keep longtime players engaged and to attract newer players to one of the biggest sources of the game’s replay value.
If you’re currently playing through another life, we’re gonna let you finish, but you probably know what we’re hinting at with that reference. Over the weekend, Candywriter rolled out the Wild West Challenge, and this allows you to recreate some of the more notable accomplishments of one Kanye West, or Ye as he’s been legally known as of late.
Yes, this is another musical challenge, which means it’s going to be tougher than most others, but aside from that, it’s also going to be a political challenge, as Kanye’s unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2020 is, in a way, also covered in here. If you’re up for the challenge and want to get it done quickly and with as little rework as possible, keep on reading this BitLife mini-strategy guide, and we’ll walk you through each of the five requirements.
Starting Out – Don’t Forget To Get Those Singing Lessons!
The first part of the Wild West Challenge would require you to create a male character from Chicago — this, of course, is important, as Kanye West was raised and was based in the Windy City. Having good Smarts and Looks is optional, but not recommended — these two will help you once you start on your path to rap superstardom, but just as long as you don’t start out with red or orange-level stats in Smarts and Looks, you should be fine.
God Mode players can get off to a flying start by choosing Music as a Special Skill, but those who don’t may have to re-roll until they get a character whose early life log hints at him being musically gifted. You can start taking voice lessons at the age of 8 onward, so make sure you get started on that as soon as possible, and take three lessons a year — no more, no less for best results — in order to fill up your Skill bar by the time you reach 18.
We’ll explain later on why it’s important to get a college degree at some point during the challenge, but from age 18 onward, you can start auditioning at various record labels as a solo artist. As is always the case in these challenges, the game will make it hard for you to get offered a contract to play music of the required genre.
But it is important that you keep quitting and restarting the game until someone offers you a contract to perform as a rapper. Release your first single, and as long as it’s successful, even moderately, you should be famous the very next year, thus knocking off another one of the challenge’s five requirements.
Getting Nine Gold Records – Keep Touring In Between Album Releases
Unlike other previous musician-inspired BitLife challenges, the Wild West Challenge does not require you to have so many platinum-certified albums. Simply reaching Gold certification, which you can get for selling 500,000 copies of an album, will suffice in this challenge, and while it will take some patience, it’s thankfully much easier than what you may remember from the previous Elton John, Ariana Grande, and Cardi B-themed challenges from recent months.
The best strategy here is to gain some early momentum by releasing a single — as long as it’s a moderate success or better, you can perform in a few concerts, then go on smaller-scale tours. This would then give you the buzz that could help you release a successful debut album.
In between succeeding albums, we would suggest going on more tours and playing more concerts, posting on social media (and getting your social media accounts verified), doing photoshoots and starring in commercials, and generally keeping yourself relevant but not to the point of being oversaturated — overdoing the tours, commercials, and the like could lead to your next album being a flop!
Keeping that in mind, we would also suggest releasing new albums every other year or so, as releasing albums on a yearly basis may play into the danger of over-exposure we were hinting at above. It may take you about 12 to 15 years, give or take a few, but thankfully, it won’t require as much rework as striving for platinum certification.
Having Four Kids Named After Directions Is The Easiest Part Of The Challenge
We all know that Kanye West has only one child named after a direction, and that’s his and Kim Kardashian’s daughter North West. But the Wild West Challenge ups the ante by requiring players to have children named North, South, East, AND West, so there’s no room in here for children with Biblical names…or children named after one’s hometown.
This, as you may be thinking, is the easiest requirement to complete — they don’t all have to be from one partner, and as these are directional names, you don’t need to concern yourself too much about gender. Just have kids named North, South, East, and West, and you’re good to go.
And if one of them, for one reason or another, dies before you complete the challenge, you can adopt and rename, or simply hook up with a random young woman (assuming your wife/domestic partner is already past childbearing age at that point) and name the new offspring after the late North, South, East, and/or West. Easy-peasy.
Getting On The Presidential Ballot Requires Lots Of Patience
As time-consuming as it is to release nine Gold-certified albums or better, it’s even tougher to get on the presidential ballot. And failing to make the presidential ballot does not qualify toward the final requirement — how can you lose a presidential election if you’re not even on the ballot? So with that in mind, the best thing to do is to retire early from music by walking away from your contract, then take the long, arduous trek to political prominence.
Unlike how things recently turned out in the real world, you’ll need to do things the traditional way in the BitLife universe, and that’s by going from political strength to political strength, starting with a successful tenure or two as School Board Director, then 1-2 terms as Mayor, then 1-2 terms as Governor (preferably two for all these positions), then a shot at the presidency.
Before we tell you what you need to do in the run-up to your unsuccessful presidential campaign, we should remind you that you need to be a college graduate or better in order to qualify for the gubernatorial or presidential ballot. (In other words, don’t do as Kanye did, as referenced in the title of one of his early albums!)
This is something we re-learned the hard way while playing as our Kanye stand-in, so to avoid any unnecessary Time Machine purchases or restarting with a new life (or waiting another four years till the next election), make sure you enroll, then graduate from college if you chose to start your rap career straight out of high school. Naturally, we would recommend taking a relevant course such as Political Science to improve your chances of success in the world of politics.
While serving as a School Board Director, Mayor, and Governor, it’s important that you maintain a high Approval Rating for as long as possible — by high, we would mean preferably 65 percent or greater. That would entail checking the headlines and making speeches tailored toward what was being focused on in the headline — for example, if you see a headline about Bruno Mars singing a song about the economy, then you definitely need to make a speech about the economy, and choose Alleviate Public Fears.
Also, be sure that you’re making decisions and passing or vetoing laws with common sense in mind. Adjust the hours in your Agenda based on your individual Approval Ratings per area of focus (Crime, Economy, Environment, etc.), increasing hours slightly for areas where the people aren’t too sold on your performance.
Once you’ve gotten enough relevant political experience under your belt, you can finally run for President — your rap career earnings would likely be more than enough to fund that campaign. We’d suggest investing about $30 million to $50 million on your campaign in order to make the ballot. (We also hope you didn’t misguidedly spend millions of dollars on a presidential campaign while not yet qualified — BitLife no longer allows players to regain money lost on a presidential campaign by quitting the game before confirming the failed outcome!)
During the presidential debate section, choose the most illogical possible answer for each scenario — admit ludicrous rumors even if they aren’t true, take no action when your opponent resorts to mudslinging, hint at corruption if acting corrupt, e.g. taking a bribe or hiring an inexperienced friend or family member, is among the options. That way, you’re sure to lose the election and complete the Wild West Challenge. And just as always, completing the challenge allows you to open a prize chest and unlock a new piece of eyewear or headwear.
