With the run-up to the U.S. presidential elections currently the talk of the town, you may have figured that we’d one day be giving you tips for a presidential candidate-themed game. That day has come, as Storm Watch Games has just released Bernie Sandwiches for Android and iOS. This game, as you may have guessed, is based on the #BernieSandwiches meme, which was in turn based on Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders. Your goal in this endless runner game is to get Bernie to the White House by eating as many sandwiches as possible. That’s right, this game is probably just what you were expecting it to be.
If you’re pinning your hopes on Sanders to become the next U.S. President, then you’ll be glad to know that part of the ad profits go to his campaign – we apologize in advance (and so does Storm Watch) if you’re a Donald Trump supporter who secretly likes playing this game. But regardless of whom you may be voting for, we hope you’d give a vote of confidence to these Bernie Sandwiches tips and tricks.
1. Keep On Going From State To State
In this game, Bernie Sanders is literally running from state to state. And as you keep on running, you will indeed reach new parts of the U.S., with the locations being determined by the path of the campaign trail. Your main goal is to run as far as you could and make it to the White House. Each time you play, work on going farther and farther on that trail.
2. How To Deal With The Obstacles
Bernie Sandwiches also comes with its share of obstacles, and you have to deal with these obstacles in different ways. For example, you’ll have to do a fast double jump to make it past the double-height cones. As for the spikes, you’ll need to try a different tack, which is jumping, followed by tapping on the screen once you hit the ground. This is different from a double jump, but it’s just what you need to deal with those spikes bunched together.
3. Sandwiches Are Your Currency
While you have to make sure that Bernie doesn’t go hungry, you also have to bear in mind that sandwiches are the game’s form of currency. Your sandwich total goes up whenever you finish a round, and any sandwiches gathered can be stored and spent on new characters. If you’ve got 2,500 dollars, you can head to the title screen, tap on Bernie’s picture, swipe left, then go shopping for new characters to spice up your playing experience. They all play the same way, but using a new character does prevent things from getting repetitive.
4. Ads Are Generally Harmless To Gameplay
If you really feel like the ads are affecting your gameplay, you can pay a nominal fee to get rid of them. You can also turn off your Wi-Fi while playing if the ads seem like too much of a distraction. But as these are small banners instead of intrusive pop-ups, we recommend playing with the ads on, especially if you support Bernie Sanders for U.S. President. (See the game overview above!)
