Century Games, known for mobile hits such as Guns of Glory and Lumia Saga, has just launched a brand new RPG called Awaken: Chaos Era. Both cut scenes and in-game graphics are superb by mobile standards but its best features relate to content and gameplay. Awaken: Chaos Era hosts a plethora of unique characters to recruit and upgrade and offers a wide selection of challenges to conquer. While a sure treat for turn-based strategy RPG enthusiasts, Awaken: Chaos Era is designed as well to make it easy for complete beginners to dive in and revel in its world.
With an extensive tutorial session and a near-vertical difficulty slope at the early part of the campaign, Awaken: Chaos Era ensures that players will have every opportunity to learn all the basics before setting them up to take on the adventure’s bigger challenges. Making it through the initial campaign stages is a breeze almost even in the absence of some strategies but it can be expected that battles will grow more challenging as new levels are reached.

1. Reroll For The Best Heroes
Turn-based strategy RPGs, particularly ones that exhibit a massive roster of characters to recruit, typically employ the gacha mechanic in recruiting heroes or units. For the uninitiated, the gacha system resembles loot boxes or toy vending machines that has a surprise element attached to each purchase. This means that while different banners delimit the kinds of units you can get from each set of pulls, there is never a certain way to determine which ones you will obtain.
As fun and exciting gacha mechanics are, the luck of draw will play a critical role in determining ease of progression later on. Characters in Awaken: Chaos Era are primarily categorized by rarity grades and, in general, the higher the rarity grade, the better the hero is.
Rarities are common, rare, elite, epic, and legendary and units belonging to the first 2 rarity grades are basically not the types to invest in. As you can expect that higher grade heroes will have a lower chance of being obtained from the gacha pulls, every opportunity to tilt luck a little more in your favor.
If you are a complete beginner in relation to gacha mechanics, the initial set or sets of pulls in the game, or the ones closest to the start of the adventure, are considered by many as the most important. This is because reroll opportunities are best taken following these instances.
Rerolling basically means erasing everything that has transpired in your adventure and starting over from the beginning. The idea is that if you are not satisfied with the units you obtain from the initial gacha pulls, you abandon your progress and restart to go for another set of pulls.
The only requirement for you to be able to reroll in Awaken: Chaos Era is to initially play the game using a guest sign in. There are always options to link your progress with a Facebook or Gmail account and you should only do so once you are settled with your initial pulls and will no longer be pursuing a reroll.
Rerolling may not be for everyone as some adventurers enjoy going through quests and challenges while making the best of whichever heroes they manage to recruit. We neither deem rerolling necessary as well but it will certainly help in the long run. The best reroll opportunity in Awaken: Chaos Era will present itself later than usual as the Rookie Summon becomes available after you have completed campaign chapter 2, stage 8. If you do not want to engage in rerolling, feel free to skip this part. On the other hand, continue reading below on how to reroll.
After making it through the above stage within the campaign, you will be taken to the summon window, specifically the Rookie Summon feature, which guarantees a legendary unit as a recruit. You will be given 5 chances to pull a set of 5 heroes but will have to choose which one to go with.
Although we have yet to come up with a complete tier list of heroes, we can already identify some of the best heroes to pick at this point. Either versions of Brand, Gangelo, Blackhorn, or Mytheasia are excellent to have. There are exceptional epic grade heroes too but since legendary ones are more challenging to obtain, it is best to pick a set with a legendary unit in it.
If you like any of the 5 choices, then you should continue on with your adventure and link your progress to an account. If you want to try again then you can easily reset the game data via the account window in the settings menu.

The icon at the upper right side of the main screen is the main menu button. Tap on it and go to settings. Under the settings window, click on the account tab, then hit the “Data Reset” button if you wish to restart your adventure. Click on the account link options above to link your progress.
2. Prioritize Progression Through The Campaign
The Story Campaign in Awaken: Chaos Era stands as its main game mode and its initial stages basically house the tutorial session you go through. The campaign is divided into chapters and each chapter is further divided into stages. Your team of 4 heroes will battle through waves of enemies and since there are no extra missions attributable to the stages, all that is required is for you to win.
Both auto battle mode and battle speed boost will become available after finishing stage 2-5. There will be plenty of story cut scenes along the way and while reading through them will immerse you deeper into the lore of Awaken: Chaos Era’s world, you can always choose to skip them.
Heroes you use in campaign battles earn EXP and can reach new levels. More importantly, there are first time completion rewards as well as random loots from each stage you complete. Awaken: Chaos Era also lets you earn EXP to raise your account level and the campaign battles stand as your primary source of it.
Beyond the EXP gains and other rewards, the campaign mode is mostly important because milestones within it serve as key towards unlocking the rest of Awaken: Chaos Era’s features. Just like in any other game, unlocking as many features as you can at the soonest provides the most benefits and will equally propel you towards a faster overall progression rate.
As such, progression through the campaign ought to be your top priority and you should only consider other activities following a currently insurmountable challenge within the campaign.
With regard to the campaign battles, always pay attention to the pre-battle screen, which gives you information on what to expect from the stage as far as enemy strength and potential loots are concerned. Following the completion of the last regular stage in each chapter, you will be taken to the first stage of the next one.
However, clicking on the magnifying glass at the left side of the map takes you to the world map and you can revisit previous chapters and stages. You will notice that each chapter holds a special stage at the end of it for you to challenge. These unique stages will often employ guest characters for you to use, which can make the battle a little more challenging on occasions.
Within the chapter map as well, be sure to click on the chapter details icon at the lower right side of the screen. There are extra rewards for you to collect following the completion of select stages within that chapter.
Note that you do not need to clear the special stages for you to claim chapter rewards as well as progress with the main campaign story. If you fail to complete the special stages, feel free to make another attempt at a later time.
3. Maintain A Well-Rounded Main Team
Awaken: Chaos Era makes it so that you can basically build a team of heroes choosing any of the available characters you have without any restrictions. While you may be able to breeze through the initial stages with whatever team you come up with, there will eventually be challenges where only well-rounded teams can triumph over. There are factors to consider in choosing from among the roster of heroes you have, which goes beyond simply choosing the highest grade or legendary units.
Elemental affinity is a critical factor to consider when building teams across various challenges within Awaken: Chaos Era. There are 3 regular elements and 2 special elements that classify heroes. If you are not familiar with the concept, these affinities basically employ the rock-paper-scissors mechanics in granting advantages and disadvantages in combat.
Fire is strong against wood but is weak against water; Wood is strong against water but weak against fire; and water is strong against fire but weak against wood. An advantage lets the hero deal 50% more damage to the unit or units with a disadvantaged element. Having a disadvantaged element, on the other hand, reduces damage by 50%.
Light and dark elemental units are unique in the sense that they neither have advantages or disadvantages against units that have regular elements. However, light and dark units deal and receive 50% more damage from each other.
Considering elemental attributes, we recommend having a main team that consists of units representing a different element. There are no extra perks or bonuses for having a full team of heroes having the same elemental attributes save for enemies that all hail from the same elemental group they have an advantage over. This, however, is highly unlikely to happen outside of dungeons. Having a full team of heroes with the same elemental attributes pose the risk of being fully disadvantage against enemies of the advantageous element.
Beyond elemental attributes, each hero can more or less be considered for the role they will play in the team. Classes or roles are not specified in the hero’s details but a quick look of each one’s basic stats and skills can give you a solid enough idea of their strengths and fitting roles.
Basically, some heroes excel in offensive capabilities while others stand out in terms of defensive prowess. Those that cannot be considered for either role are potentially support units who can provide heals and buffs for the team or inflict negative status effects on the enemies.
4. Exercise Prudence With Upgrades
Though building a team with the right mix of heroes is crucial to taking on various challenges efficiently, each hero in Awaken: Chaos Era should be further enhanced and upgraded to meet the demands of the growing challenges. The early stages of your adventure within Awaken: Chaos Era’s world will earn you a plethora of materials and resources to upgrade your heroes and boost their individual strength.
As much as stronger heroes are always advantageous in combat, however, caution must be observed when it comes to expending resources. Despite an abundance early on, resources are finite and you should always keep a steady supply of each one.
Even if you went for a reroll or simply landed solid characters worth investing in, having your dream team become a reality will take some time to build. For the most part, you will have to make do of heroes within your roster that are there temporarily as you will replace them when better ones or more suitable ones come along. In this regard, it is best to limit your investments in heroes you do not intend to utilize all the way to the end game content.
Levelling up stands as the most basic way heroes grow stronger as each new level reached comes with its own set of stat increases. Although heroes taken to battle earn EXP, it will not suffice to sustain their growing need for power especially as enemies grow stronger from one stage to the next.
EXP can be instantly gained from EXP Jelly, which is among the most basic resources you will have a constant supply of early on. EXP Jelly needed to reach higher levels will exponentially grow as heroes reach higher levels and you can easily empty out your ready supply of it.
It is okay to spend some EXP Jelly on the heroes you use, but if some of your team members are meant to be switched out at some point, then you should limit what you invest in them. Additionally, new heroes you recruit will start off at level 1. If you manage to pull a hero who will join your main team, then you will want some available EXP Jelly o have that unit catch up in terms of level.
Heroes have level caps based on their star level, with 2 stars being the conventional benchmark having a level cap of 20. Once a hero reaches the level cap, he or she will have to be promoted to the next star grade to increase the level cap by 10. To do so, you will need to sacrifice units of the same star grade or holy pumpkins. A 2-star hero needs any combination of 2 2-star units or holy pumpkins to be sacrificed. A 3-star hero needs 3 and so on.
Each hero gets recruited with 3 available skills unlocked. These skills start off at level 1 and can be upgraded to level 4. You will need elemental crystals to upgrade skill levels and the type depends on your hero’s elemental attribute. These crystals can be easily earned from the dungeon, No Man’s Land, and have varying grades as well. Heroes also have glyphs that can be enhanced but securing the glyph scrolls will come at a later time once you unlock the hard and mythic difficulty modes of the story campaign.
5. Choose The Right Gear Sets For Each Hero
Considering the overabundance of heroes in Awaken: Chaos Era, it becomes somewhat improbable for any 2 players to have the exact same team composition. In case it would happen, however, it can also be said that the similar characters they will use will have differences. What can make your favorite heroes unique in Awaken: Chaos Era largely lies on the gear sets you consider for each character.
Gears are a huge part of what contributes to the team’s overall strength and efficiency as they can either bolster an already prominent trait or offset for what the hero is lacking in. This relates largely to the set the gears belong to and you should pay close attention to these sets when choosing gears for each hero.
Despite the varieties of gears available in Awaken: Chaos Era, there are no limitations as to which hero can equip which type of gear. While the unbound liberty makes for a wide range of possibilities, it is important to consider a suitable gear set for heroes based on their individual strengths and limitations. Sets may require 2 or 4 of the same gear set types to be equipped for bonus stats to be activated.
For example, 2 gears belonging to the Terra Set will grant your hero a 15% health boost while 4 gears belonging to the Cursed Set will grant a 35% chance for the hero to launch an extra attack once per turn. Given these mechanics, you should either go for a 4-set and a 2-set for your hero or 3 2-piece gear sets.
Gears can also be enhanced to boost the stat bonuses they provide. Enhancement may also unlock additional stat boosts. Enhancements can go all the way to level 15 but the set bonuses provided will not increase. Beyond rarity grades as indicated by a gear’s icon color, gears also have star grades.
Star grades determine a gear’s overall proficiency but cannot be improved in any way. In this regard, it is best to be cautious as well when investing gear charms or sacrificing gears to enhance your favorite gears. It is recommended to invest in at least 4-star gears that are of epic or legendary rarity grade.
6. Join A Guild And Add Friends
MMORPGs and online strategy RPGs may contain some single player elements but the adventure will always seem somewhat lacking if elements of a guild system were absent. Guilds, alliances, clans, and factions have grown in purpose to become more than a mere extension of the world’s social features. Guilds in Awaken: Chaos Era offer a plethora of benefits for its members, making it very necessary for you to be a member of one as soon as possible.
Once available, you can either create your very own guild or join an existing one. By clicking on the guild icon at the lower left side of the home screen, you can easily choose from among a number of guilds which one to join. You can always opt to start your own guild but as a beginner, we recommend that you join one initially and learn the responsibilities of a guild leader before starting your own. Some guilds may require approval before letting you join them but there are plenty of guilds that simply accept you as soon as you apply.
Once you have joined a guild, an instant bonus can already be claimed via the “sign in” button on the lower left side of the guild page. You can also instantly join in on guild battles. There is a guild boss you can take on regardless of your team’s strength. Dealing more damage earns you rewards and may also randomly unlock rewards for your fellow guild members.
Be sure to expend both attempts here daily as even a lackluster performance will be beneficial for you and the whole guild. You should also make it a habit to peek into guild quests. Your guild’s performance in accomplishing the outlined guild targets will determine the volume of rewards each member will receive.
While fellow guild members are always a good source of in-game friends, you can also make friends with players who may not be in your guild. The friends icon is located at the upper right side of the main screen and you should very well visit it and make friends as soon as you can. Friends can earn friendship points from one another and beyond its unique use as a currency, having more friends ultimately mean having more options for support characters.
This is especially helpful if you can gain higher level friends that have powerful characters. With their support character’s help, you can win through challenges that would otherwise be impossible to beat using only your team.
7. Expend Extra Stamina On Dungeons And Replays
Awaken: Chaos Era has an energy system that somewhat limits your capacity to go on adventures and dungeon explorations. The bread symbol at the top of your screen symbolizes how much energy you still have as well as its current cap. Normal campaign stages and dungeon attempts will only consume 5 energy so you will typically have an overabundance in the early parts of your adventure.
Energy replenishes over time and you would want to keep it below the cap at all times. Each new account level reached increases your max energy as well along with some bonus energy. Awaken: Chaos Era provides numerous ways to also gain energy like parts of rewards or items you can consume for instant energy.
Progressing through the main campaign may be the top priority in our book but it inevitably leads to a temporary impediment barring your from progressing further. Despite a continuous increase in your team’s strength in the early game, you will surely reach a point where it becomes very difficult to beat the chapter and stage you are in.
In such instances where it becomes difficult to move forward but you still have energy to spare, it is recommended to either expend the extra energy on dungeon runs or replays of campaign stages you have already beaten. Awaken: Chaos Era holds a variety of unique game modes within the dungeon feature, each with its own set of rewards that are either difficult or impossible to obtain anywhere else.
No Man’s Land is among the first dungeon game modes you can engage in. It is made up of 5 distinct dungeons representing each of the elements. You can earn gems and crystals needed to upgrade the skills of your heroes here. You will start at the first stage and you can proceed to the next one after beating it. Further stages provide better rewards but more difficult enemies.
The enemies within each elemental dungeon will always belong to that element. While your main team can still manage to beat the earlier stages, these set of dungeons is one game mode where having a full team of advantaged elements can make each run easier. Higher levels may require more energy to engage in as well.
A lot of the game modes within the dungeon will only be available after finishing certain stages within the story campaign. This is what makes the campaign important to progress as soon as possible as you will want access to different sets of challenges and rewards sooner to be able to strengthen your team more effectively.
8. Expend Daily Attempts In The Arena
When it comes to overall content in strategy RPGs, most beginners typically shy away the most when it comes to PvP combat. The notion that arena battles are difficult, especially for a free-to-play newbie, can make beginners hesitant enough to completely ignore potential rewards to be earned from the arena. While dueling with another player’s team is conventionally more challenging than taking on PvE enemies, the arena mode in Awaken: Chaos Era is more friendly for every player.
To start off, battles are not real-time, which means that you have the advantage in strategy. The enemy team will be AI-controlled while you can enjoy the luxury of manually controlling your team. There is a wide list of opponents to choose from and you can even refresh the entire list if you are hesitant to launch a challenge. This will, however, break combo rewards you can earn for win streaks.
Beyond the arena tokens you earn, points awarded to you serve as means to acquire extra rewards via the glory path system that you can access on the left side of the arena page. Extra diamonds can be earned as rewards as well by challenging trainer teams in Arena Training. Be sure to collect as many arena tokens as you can as the items you can trade them for in the arena shop are either difficult or impossible to obtain anywhere else.
9. Accomplish Quests For Extra Rewards
With first time completion rewards along with random loots for most battles you engage in, an industrious adventurer who can consistently expend all his energy can certainly amass enough of the resources he needs. Awaken: Chaos Era is actually generous enough to provide extra means to earn resources in the campaign and dungeon game modes, but more are still in store for active players via the quests system.
Awaken: Chaos Era provides lists of objectives players can accomplish for extra rewards. The most basic of these can be found under the quest system, which you can access through the trophy icon at the bottom of the main screen.
Quests are divided by tabs into daily quests, weekly quests and achievements. These targets may not all be equally easy to accomplish but all objectives relate to the usual activities you engage in so you are bound to accomplish most, if not all targets, by actively playing.
On top of being a source of extra resources, it is important to view quests as a guide for you to progress more rapidly in your adventure. Visiting the list of targets regularly will quickly give you a habit of what you need to tend to on a regular basis. After some time, daily and weekly targets will form part of your usual routine.
Daily quests are the easiest of the bunch and following a simple run though of different activities within the game ensures the acquisition of all rewards. Weekly quests are basically daily quests stretched into a week and accomplishing daily quests almost guarantees successful completion of all weekly targets.
Achievements very much document milestones you reach across various aspects of your adventure. Achievement targets and rewards are divided across multiple categories so be sure to look into each one as you would want to pursue some of the targets ahead of others.
Beyond the regular quests, be sure to also check into Foody’s Guide by clicking on his icon at the right side of the main screen. This guide works more like an extension of the tutorial session and will have you go through different activities within Awaken: Chaos Era to earn extra rewards. To some extent, the objectives here also work in line with quest targets and relate very much to the usual activities you engage in your adventures.
Awaken: Chaos Era also holds challenge quests you should aim to complete. This can be accessed by clicking on Evelyn on the main screen. The quests here are divided across tabs and each one holds a series of targets that can be unlocked much like nodes, meaning accomplishing some targets lead to additional ones. There are great rewards to be earned here as well and in addition to all other extra resources you can earn, accomplishing these objectives should form part of your targets.
Last, but not the least, one of the most important set of quest targets you should pursue is the Rookie Challenge. This is a special limited-time event that houses extra rewards worth exerting extra efforts on.
You will have 12 days to complete a set of targets that span 7 days, with the first set being unlocked on the first day you dive into Awaken: Chaos Era’s world. You can accomplish targets from the previous days and doing so for objectives not yet revealed also counts. Make an effort to amass 60 points so you can earn Myla, an epic grade hero, as your top reward.
10. Visit The Index And Altar Regularly
The tutorial, along with this guide can make it easier for beginners to venture into the world of Awaken: Chaos Era more efficiently. Considering what it has to offer, however, there are still plenty of information players can get through their own explorations in the game’s features.
One feature definitely worth peeking into is the character index, which you can access through its icon under the main menu. The index holds information on the various factions in the world of Awaken: Chaos Era, most important of which lies in the characters under each faction.
Even prior to recruiting a character, you can check each one’s stats at max level as well as their sets of abilities. Unlocking characters and the bond they belong to can earn you valuable diamonds. By clicking on the note icon at the upper right side of the character, you can view ratings of other players on the specific character. You can also lodge your personal ratings for each character, provided that you have promoted them to 4 stars. Recommended sets for each character are also noted in the hero guide.
The altar offers a quick way to promote heroes and contains unique functions as well. Hero Synthesis lets you sacrifice some heroes to obtain a higher grade hero. While it may take some time, some grinding, and some resources to pull off a synthesis, it will be worth it in the long run. Banishment offers a means for you to get rid of unwanted heroes.
As an overabundance of common and rare heroes may just clog up your roster, you can easily let them go through banishment. This will in turn earn you gold or even hero essences needed to recruit more heroes.
As an extra tip, remember to be use Redeem Codes for extra resources. Once you have completed the tutorial and are free to click on anything, the account tab we visited on our reroll section holds a “Redeem Code” button within the account window. Input the code and you will receive the rewards via the in-game mail. The codes are active as of this writing but some may expire over time.
The codes you can claim at any time are: “swordout”, “FOODY”, and “hello100”. Once you reach account level 5, you can also use “ineedadoctor” and “whosyourdaddy”. Be sure to check the social media links for Awaken: Chaos Era below the account tab window to check for additional codes. Remember to check the in-game mail for rewards as well.
