Totes the Goat is a recently released iOS game from Atooi LLC, and the game’s maker calls it a charming game with vibrant voxel art and easy-to-use swipe controls. AppAdvice.com, which is one of the more reliable sites specializing in mobile apps, calls this title “Crossy Road meets Qbert,” and that’s something we can definitely agree with. Mechanics-wise, this is a platformer where you bring platforms back to life as you jump from one to another. You’ll also be tested as you try to avoid Wily Wolves, Cranky Crows, Bully Bears, and other in-game enemies.
How low can you leap? How totes is your goat? The game asks you this question toward the end of the description, but you also don’t want to be “totes screwed” if you aren’t playing it right. Read LevelWinner’s compilation of Totes the Goat tips and tricks so you can get off on the right footing and play this game the right way.
1. Take Your Time And Scout Your Enemies
Here’s good news if you’re worried you’ll have to navigate those platforms within a specific amount of time – there are no time limits, regardless of which level you’re playing. That gives you the luxury to move slowly as you cross the platforms. The main challenge here comes in the form of random enemies, such as the aforementioned crows, wolves, and bears. Don’t panic when you see an enemy – take some time to observe how it moves and be as elusive as possible as you jump past them. They aren’t very smart anyway, as they often jump off the end of a level’s side, thus killing them instantly.
2. If You See Coins, Go Get ‘Em
Another thing you should do in this game is gather as many coins as possible. Coins can be seen in the levels, and while they aren’t really much at the end of the day, you’ll still want to get them. Buying the character Max is a good idea, as that gives you a permanent coin multiplier, all free of charge. Other than that, you can get about 25 to 50 coins via free gifts, or watch ad videos to earn anywhere between 10 to 20 coins for free.
3. Unlock Characters With Your Coins
After you earn 100 coins, you’ll have the chance to unlock a new character at random. None of these characters change the gameplay in any way; they merely look different from each other. The sole exception here is Max, who increases your coin multiplier for good, though other than that, all the characters play the same way.
4. Don’t Spend Too Much To Keep The Game Going
After failing a round, you’ll be asked if you want to spend 25 coins in order to continue. Unless you’re very far into the round or very close to your high score, don’t bother with this continue option, which you’ll be able to do only once per game anyway.
5. What Happens As You Go Further In A Round?
Things may get hairy as you draw to the close of a round. Your enemies will move quicker and would be able to jump farther distances. Additionally, you’ll have to watch out for spikes and other inanimate obstacles that could end your round if you’re not careful.
