Temple Run 2 Cheats & Strategy Guide: 5 Essential Tips You Need to Know

Temple Run 2 is the sequel to the wildly popular Temple Run from Imangi Studios, which is available for device owners on Android and iOS alike. The addictive mobile platformer’s second iteration will have you doing more unthinkable stunts and unbelievable runs, as you navigate perilous cliff lines, zip lines, mines and forests as you beat a hasty retreat with the cursed idol in your hands. The game comes with new graphics and environments, new obstacles and other challenges, but also new power-ups and special powers. Now, whether you’re new to the Temple Run series or not, we believe you’ll benefit from the following Temple Run 2 cheats, tips and tricks.

1. Collect Some Freebies Before Beginning Your Run In Earnest

Don’t start your actual run into the wilderness just yet. Before anything else, go get yourself some free coins via the in-game app store by selecting Get Free Stuff. It’s as simple as liking the game on Facebook and following it on Twitter, and if you have both (chances are you do), that’ll get you 250 free coins. You can also get a free gem, and once again, all you have to do is like Temple Run 2 on Facebook.

2. Jump The Moment You See A Cliff Hanger

Cliff Hangers are just as scary and suspenseful as they sound, and you might not believe it when we say jumping is the best thing to do when you see one. But here’s the rest of the story – after you jump, lean to the safe side and you should be good. It’s better than running into a Cliff Hanger, especially when the stage runs start getting faster.

3. Prioritize Coin Upgrades

Coin upgrades should be the first upgrades you should go for if you’re really looking to boost your score big-time – by this, we mean the Coin Magnet and Coin Value upgrades. There are also other things that you can upgrade more often than others, and these include Pickup Spawns. We don’t really recommend paying much attention to Shield Duration or Boost Distance as compared to the others, but don’t overlook them in any case.

4. Choose Power-Ups Based On Your Preferred Style Of Play

Yes, there are a whole lot of power-ups to choose from in Temple Run 2, but you should choose them based on how you play the game, or based on your strengths and weaknesses. The Coin Magnet, for example, allows you to focus on running and jumping as it automatically collects coins for you. Boost power-ups help you do extremely long runs without having to worry much about obstacles, while the Shield power-up is best if you’re frequently troubled by smaller walls, tiles, and other similar challenges.

5. Keep Your Cart Tilted In The Underground Cart Minigame

The underground cart minigame can get you some extra loot, and while it’s not an integral part of the game’s storyline, it’s a whole lot of fun to play. So how do you get that loot consistently? One strategy that’s worked for many is to tilt the cart while aiming at the easy-to-grab gems. Don’t worry about the harder-to-grab gems; you won’t get them the first time around, but as you progress on in Temple Run 2, you’ll probably be better at operating the mining cart, and better-equipped to grab them for yourself.
