SEGA Forever Teases Golden Axe 2, Classic Brawler May Hit the App Store Soon

Classic games are always fun to replay and relive. That is why emulators have been continued to survive and evolve throughout the years. After realizing that there is an actual market for emulated classic games on the mobile platform, Sega decided to come out with Sega Forever. It first came out in 2017 and has since churned out over a dozen old-school Sega titles mostly from Sega Genesis. Despite the lackluster initial response, Sega has persevered and worked out all the bugs of Sega Forever, and players are now excitedly anticipating the next release. It looks like that the next title in the catalogue is Golden Axe 2.

Golden Axe 2 is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up game that was initially released on Sega Genesis. It has the same three playable characters as the first title from the series: Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, and Gilius Thunderhead. The goal is to plow through seven levels of enemies in order to defeat the Dark Guld and save the land.

Based on Sega Forever’s trend of releasing games, their Twitter teaser is most likely a sign that Golden Axe 2 is coming out soon. This hopefully marks the beginning of a year full of classic titles on the platform. While Golden Axe 2 is yet another title from the Sega Genesis console, fans continue to look forward to possible releases their Saturn, Dreamcast, and Game Gear. Sega Forever initially had a lot of technical issues that have since been resolved. Here’s to hoping that the developers are just waiting to fix all the bugs before coming out with titles from the other consoles.

No official release date has been announced for Golden Axe 2. Players who want to know more may check out Sega Forever’s official Twitter account for future updates.
