Land Sliders is a brand new game by Prettygreat, and at the moment, it is only available for iOS devices, meaning iPhones and iPads. If you read the game’s description on the Apple App Store, you might notice that it’s got a similar structure to Crossy Road, and that’s not surprising – one gamer called it the “new Crossy Road.” Really, there’s not much to be inferred from the rhetorical questions of whether you’re hungry for burgers, whether you want to use your UFO to pick up cows, or whether the Tooth Fairy really exists. So with that in mind, we’ll fill you in – the game involves sliding characters around in a variety of stages, picking up items and avoiding obstacles along the way.
That’s the gist of the game in one paragraph, but if you’re having difficulty starting out or have been playing a bit but got stuck somewhere and not sure how to improve your high score, we’ve got some pretty cool Land Sliders tips, cheats and tricks that covers beginner and semi-advanced hints alike. Let’s get to it.
1. Use Both Types Of Control When Starting Out
You have the option to control the world your character is in or slide the character when starting out the game for the first time. By default, Slide the World is the form of control you’ll be using, but other gamers seem to have better results in Slide the Character mode.
It may sound confusing, but just as a reminder, sliding a character up will move him up, while sliding the world would move him down with the same gesture. Practice using both control types and stick to the one you’re most comfortable with; there’s no specific best type of control in Land Sliders.
2. Items Vary Depending On Character
With each character you play as, you’ll have different items to pick up. Turny is your default character and will collect maps. Then you’ve got the Toilet, which collects plungers, the Umbrella, which collects rain boots, and many more. You get the idea here – each character and the object they pick up are mostly related to each other.
3. You Don’t Have To Collect All The Swag To Move On To The Next Level
Although, your primary objective in Land Sliders is to collect as much Swag (items) as you could, that’s only applicable to scoring. You should still focus on trying to grab every piece you can get, and keep a close eye on things by standing near the exit button and seeing how many pieces of Swag are left. But you shouldn’t grab all the available Swag if it will put you in danger – it’s possible to move on to the next stage any time in a level by hitting the Exit button, even if you’ve yet to gather a single piece of Swag on the current stage.
But what happens if you collect all the available pieces of Swag? We’re glad you asked. Doing this will grant you five extra Swag pieces that are applied towards your score. And exiting a level also grants you five extra pieces. Ergo, if you clear the level completely and leave it via the exit button, that’s 10 more Swag towards your score.
4. Get As Much Swag As Possible To Improve Your Score
Even if you take danger into account, it is possible to get any piece of Swag available and pre-loaded onto a level. It may be at a faraway platform or located behind a dangerous obstacle, say spikes, but the bottom line is that it can be reached eventually. Yes, it is very dangerous, and you may need to think of ways to strategically get to the Swag, such as leaping over a pit.
However, if Swag appears after the fact, or after you start the level, then you don’t need to worry about it – examples include animals that had mysteriously died. As they could die in the most peculiar of places, that could make Swag unreachable, though the consolation is that it won’t be included in the post-stage bonus calculations. Enemy Swag isn’t included in level bonus equations either; for instance, you’ll still need to find remaining Swag pieces if you have only one remaining before the bonus but several you collected off a dead enemy.
5. Practice Your Stop
In general, stopping will be one of the most effective evasive maneuvers you can pull off, which means you have to practice early. Stopping would allow you to avoid hazards or obstacles, while also making precise jumps to small islands if you have to. Just tap the display while your character is in motion to do a stop. Also make sure you practice this move in wide-open stages, and specifically try to stop in the middle.
You also want to hone your stopping skills by stopping at a specific landmark or patch of terrain. Whatever your plan is when practicing this skill, be sure you’re practicing, and be sure you practice early while things are still mostly empty.
6. Kill All The Enemies
If an enemy dies, then they’ll explode and be converted into a pile of Swag. That could be fantastic for your score, but in the grand scheme of things, removing enemies allows you to explore a level with less obstructions and distractions. Most of the time, you’ll be running into bulls, brown and black bears, cactus turtles, and pogosauruses, though the types of enemy increase as you go through the different levels.
7. Get Coin Bonuses By Using Different Characters
Coins can be used to unlock new characters for Land Sliders, and these new characters will set you back by a hundred coins each. New characters can also be given to you at random once you open a blind box; each character collects Swag, and when they get leveled up, they earn coins. Unlocking more characters is a fairly reliable way to get easy bonuses in coins.
8. Go For The Rabbits
The levels in Land Sliders may come with rabbits – silver and gold rabbits, specifically – they can be quite deceptive, though, as they run away if you get close to them. But if you slide into a rabbit, they’ll explode; the silver ones become swag, while the gold ones become coins. Go ahead and chase those rabbits as long as it doesn’t put your character in danger.
