When Jurassic World Alive first hit the Android and iOS market, fans of the movies were thrilled to finally be able to bring their favorite dinosaurs into the real world. It turns out that the game is a lot more than just a promotional Augmented Reality game. Exploring the real world and capturing dinosaurs are just small steps towards building the ultimate dino team. There is still the matter of training them, battling, and even evolving them until they reach their full potential. You will not just need to interact with the dinosaurs you capture, you will also have to compete with fellow players from around the globe. The scale of battles will be as monolithic as the creatures you will be battling with. We initially released a Jurassic World Alive strategy guide for beginners. If you want to take things to the next level, however, you better read our Jurassic World Alive advanced tips and tricks!
1. Try To Get Close
If you are somehow stuck at home, you will be glad to know that you will still be able to capture dinosaurs and enjoy the game even if you don’t walk around. With that said, it is still better if you take time to walk around and get as close to a dinosaur as possible. The closer you are to the target, the more time you will have to shoot it with darts. Your time is indicated by the battery icon at the top of your screen. Needless to say, the more time you have, the more DNA samples you will be able to acquire. You will need a lot of DNA samples, so make sure you walk around whenever you can.
If you need another reason to walk around town, keep in mind that supply drops do not move from their locations. On top of that, you will have to be close to them in order to claim supplies. The good news is, you can harvest multiple times from the same supply drop. It will go on cooldown for a while but at least you know where to return. One of the main drawbacks of Pokemon GO is that they tied the game to landmarks, making it difficult for suburban players to get ahead. Jurassic World Alive solved that problem by ensuring the same number of supply drops are supplied to all areas, regardless of landmarks.
2. Aim For The Bullseye
One thing you should remember about your encounters with dinosaurs is that it does not officially begin until you fire your first dart. That means you will have plenty of time to get the perfect first shot. Try to get a bullseye as much as you can in this first shot in order to get the most DNA samples. Keep in mind that once you hit the dinosaur the first time, it will start moving around, making it a more difficult target. It takes a bit of practice to master this skill, but once you have it down, you will be able to collect more DNA samples.
On your subsequent shots, you will need to predict the movement of the dinosaur. You need to aim ahead of the dinosaur in order for your darts to land. The more darts you hit a dinosaur with, the faster it will move. That means you will have to aim a little farther ahead to make sure your darts hit their target. Also, avoid shooting last-second darts. If they do not land before the timer ends, they will not count even if they hit.
3. How To Build Your Team
Your starting dino is dependable but it cannot enter battle on its own. You will need to gather three more dinosaurs to form a team of four in order to fight in battle. Tap on the skull icon to see the dinosaur collection. This will show you how many DNA samples you need to unlock your next dinosaur. Common dinosaurs normally just need 50 DNA samples to create. Better dinosaurs will cost you 100 to 150 DNA samples. Since you are still starting out, it is alright if you settle for a few common dinosaurs just so you can get your team started. Training and investing more DNA samples into a dinosaur will make it stronger anyway.
When you have encountered more dinosaurs, you will notice purple rarity dinos pop up in your Not Collected section. These are hybrids that can only be created by combining two high-level dinosaurs. The goal is to fill your team with these purple dinosaurs because they are the strongest types in Jurassic World Alive. It will cost you a lot of DNA samples to get to that point, so don’t neglect your starting team just yet.
4. Open Up Incubators
You will need a lot of coins in order to evolve and fuse your dinosaurs. Incubators will help you gather the resources you need. Aside from coins, cash, and darts, you will also receive DNA samples from incubators. The higher the rarity of the incubator, the more DNA samples you can get. You may even pick up a few rare DNA samples from them.
The game gives you a free incubator, but you will have to wait for a timer. You can get better incubators through battles. There is no way to tell exactly what you will get from incubators. You can check the shop menu to see the minimum DNA samples you will get, but the type is still unknown. At the end of the day, you really just have to get as many incubators as you can.
Keep in mind that incubators take time to open, and you only have four slots for them. Incubators can take anywhere between 15 minutes to eight hours to open, and you can only work on opening one at a time. That means you will most likely have full slots if you battle regularly. Try not to take on additional battles at this point to avoid wasting incubators.
5. Master The Battle Basics
When you tap on the Battle icon, the game will take a few seconds to find a player who is on the same league as you. Once you have an opponent, you will be given a few seconds to choose a starting dinosaur from the four that will be entering battle. During battle, each player has 15 seconds to choose one of the dinosaur’s attacks or abilities, or to swap out to a different dinosaur. You just need to tap on the icon of the action you want to take in order to execute it. Familiarize yourself with the basics of battle in order to effectively utilize everything at your disposal.
6. Unlock New Arenas
Battles in Jurassic World Alive work a little differently from what you may expect. Once you have enough dinosaurs, your team will consist of eight members. The problem is, only four of them will actually battle, and you don’t get to pick which ones. The game will randomly choose four from your eight dinosaurs. This means you will have to invest equally in all eight members of your team.
When you start winning more battles, you rank will go up. Higher ranks will give you access to new arenas. This is important because each arena specializes in specific DNA samples. That means the new arenas will also give you the chance to collect dinosaurs that you have not encountered before.
7. Focus On Your Battle Tactics
There are several ways for you to win in the arena. One of them is simply being harder to kill than the enemy. That means choosing dinosaurs with high health and armor. Keep in mind, however, that there are high DPS dinosaurs in the game as well. Those can tear through your armor and eat up your health in a couple of hits. When you know your enemy has armor-piercing dinosaurs in his lineup, try to take those down first before sending out your tanky dino.
Another tactic you can employ is to trap your opponents in the arena. Some dinosaurs have a skill that prevents switching. This is very useful if you have a speed advantage, as indicated by small yellow arrows at the top. If you have an advantage, you will be able to deal a lot of damage to your opponent and they will not be able to stop you because they can’t switch out. If you realize that you bit off more than you can chew by trapping a stronger dinosaur in battle, you can easily switch out your current dinosaur to mitigate the incoming damage.
When switching out, remember that you will be giving the opponent one free hit at your incoming dinosaur. Take this into consideration before you choose which dinosaur to send out. There are times when this calculated risk is worth it. Most of the time, however, it will put you at a disadvantage.
8. Get The Best Dinosaurs
Remember that your goal is to assemble an unstoppable team of dinosaurs. To achieve this, you will need to be able to correctly choose the members of your team. Some dinosaurs are better than others, so we have listed down the best options you can find in Jurassic World Alive. Keep in mind, however, that levels, rarity, and evolution will still play their respective roles in determining the final strength of your dinosaurs.
Velociraptor: The name itself tells you this guy is all about speed. It is so fast that you will almost always get to act first against any opponent. On top of that, its Pounce ability reduces the opponent’s damage by 50%. What’s even better is that the skill has a cooldown of just one turn. Level it up and it will easily take down one or two dinosaurs despite its relatively low health.
Stegosaurus: This underrated herbivore is often overlooked due to its low armor of just 15%. What you should note, however, is that it has high health along with above average damage. It’s Thagomizer ability slows down the opponent for three turns. That means you will be able to get the first attack for three turns!
Majungasaurus: Though he looks like a discounted T-Rex, this guy has a couple of tricks up his sleeve. His Pinning Strike prevents the opponent from switching. It also has Short Defense that creates a 50% shield for two turns. Finally, his passive skill is the Counter-Attack, which means he will deal damage every time he is attacked as long as he is not knocked out. Use these three and you can really do some serious damage to an opponent.
Anklyosaurus Gen 2: Yet another chunky herbivore that can deal good damage despite being a tank. Pile on Long Protection’s 50% shield over 4 turns on top of its 25% armor and you have a dinosaur that can go the distance. Use this 75% damage protection with Vulnerability Strike to beat enemies into submission.
9. Create Hybrid Dinosaurs
Some of the strongest dinosaurs in Jurassic World Alive are created through fusion. If you want to create a hybrid dinosaur, you will need to have the right parent dinosaurs, coins, and some extra DNA samples. You can check which dinosaurs you can fuse together by looking at the Possible Hybrids in the evolution section. If you have not encountered the parent dinosaurs yet, it will show up as Unknown on the list with just the Jurassic World logo.
Keep in mind that the parent dinosaurs have to be a particular level in order for the fusion to work. Rare hybrids require level 5 dinosaurs. Epic hybrids require level 10 dinosaurs. Legendary hybrids need level 15 dinosaurs. On top of this, you also need 20, 100, and 200 coins for rare, epic, and legendary fusions respectively.
Fusion is not a one-shot process, either. You only get a handful of DNA samples every time you hit the Fuse button. You will need to gather the required amount of DNA samples of the hybrid in order to unlock it. That means you will have to repeat the fusion process until you have enough DNA to unlock the hybrid.
The good news is that hybrids do not start at level one. After all the time and resources you invested, it is nice to know that you get to skip some of the level grinding. Hybrids also tend to have more abilities than regular dinosaurs. Some of them can have up to four abilities, giving them a bigger advantage in battles.
10. Consider A VIP Subscription
If you decide to spend some real money in the game, you may want to consider the VIP subscription. This will give you cash every day as long as you play daily. You also get extra rewards from supply drops, making your regular walks around town worth the effort. Make sure you only go for this option if you plan to play the game for a long time. If you are still trying things out, you may want to stick to supply drops and incubators as your primary source of free cash.
11. Check Out The Offer Wall
Jurassic World Alive has a wide range of offers that can get you even more free cash depending on how much you are willing to do. The offer wall has several free and paid offers that will reward you with cash. Most of the good offers involve downloading other games and reaching certain levels in those games. For example, if you download the Final Fantasy XV offer, you will be able to get over $150 worth of cash. Just browse through the offers and see which ones you can complete in order to get more cash.
It is time for dinosaurs to once again dominate the earth in Jurassic World Alive! Just follow the tips and tricks listed above if you want to build the best team there is!
