Hot Wheels: Race Off Tips, Cheats & Tricks to Win More Races

Mattel has just teamed up with Hutch Games to release an exciting new Android and iOS title based on the former company’s iconic toy line. The game we’re referring to is Hot Wheels: Race Off, and it promises “everything you love about Hot Wheels brought to life.” While there don’t appear to be any real-life vehicles included in this game, you do get more than 20 Hot Wheels cars and more than 40 insane, physics-based racetracks. You can make use of loops, jumps, and boosters to pull off crazy stunts on the Hot Wheels orange racetrack, upgrade your existing vehicles and buy new ones, and take part in single-player or in competitive multi-player mode.

With the presence of the physics-based racetracks, this is definitely not your average car racing game for mobile. You’ll need to consider various things aside from the physics itself – for example, how can you go through those tracks without crashing, and what are the best strategies to defeat AI or human opponents? We believe we’ve got those topics and others covered in these Hot Wheels: Race Off tips and tricks, where we shall be talking about everything you need to know in order to win more races and collect more cars.

1. Avoid Hitting The Gas In The Loops

This is a mistake a lot of beginner players make, even in the introductory levels, so we’re going to tell you about it as our very first tip. As you’ll need to optimize your fuel consumption and be aware that fuel is a hard-to-come-by resource in the game, you have to do what you can do to conserve. There are times when you’d need to let off on the gas, specifically those points where you’re headed into a loop. As Hot Wheels: Race Off already sets you up with the speed boost strips you see at the beginning of each loop, you wouldn’t need to use the gas too much, if at all, at these points.

2. Open Presents For Freebies

On the upper left of your screen, you will see an “Open Present” icon, which you can click in order to get some free stuff – these may include gems, which are the game’s premium currency, but may also include other items that you can use to improve your vehicle. Take advantage of the free stuff and you’ll be saving up enough money for upgrades, and maybe have enough to buy new cars to add to your collection.

3. All-Around Upgrades Are The Best

Just as it is in any other racing game, it’s very important that you upgrade your car whenever possible – if you can afford it, then go for the upgrade. There are several possible categories to upgrade, but if you want to improve your chances of winning, it’s best to work on making your car an all-around threat. You can prioritize speed, grip, and stability, as they can all increase your odds of finishing a course successfully, or tilt if you’re trying to complete more stunts, but in most cases, going the all-rounder route is the best way to go.

4. Don’t Mind Your Opponent Too Much

It doesn’t matter if it’s a computer opponent or a human opponent. As long as you’re making sure you aren’t crashing, you should be in good shape – winning, in fact, isn’t as important as you may think it is. Your goal when racing on a track for the first time should be to finish the track in one piece, and if you don’t make it the first time, you can always try again. You also have the option to return to levels you’ve already completed so you can improve your time and try to beat your opponents the second time around. But if you’re new to any given track, you should be focusing on optimizing fuel consumption and avoiding crashes while going through a trial-and-error process of sorts.

5. Take Advantage Of The Opportunity To Do Stunts

As Hot Wheels: Race Off boasts of its physics-based courses inspired by the original Mattel Hot Wheels orange tracks, you won’t be doing a lot of straight-line racing. In fact, there will be a lot of chances for you to get your vehicle airborne. We would suggest focusing on doing more flips and getting more airtime if you want to unlock stunt chests. These chests come with some high-end rewards that you can use to improve your vehicle (among other things), so go for those stuns and try to spend as much time in the air as possible.

And this completes our guide for Hot Wheels: Race Off. We hope you’ve enjoyed this article and if you know additional hints for the game, don’t hesitate to let us know!
