Ketchapp has a tendency to release games with just one word in the title, falling in line with its tradition of simplicity in the world of mobile gaming. And the casual gaming powerhouse’s latest one-word, one-touch game is simply entitled Hop, a title released earlier this month on Android and iOS. You will have to bounce off tiles and hop as many times as possible – nothing much to it, as per Ketchapp tradition. Just tap on the screen or drag left or right so you can move the ball from one tile to the next. And be accurate while doing so, as missing the path will end your run just like that.
In this game your main goal is to score as many points as possible and top your high score, if not your friends’ or other random players’ high scores. So read on, as we shall be giving you some Hop tips and hints that will help you in hopping your way to high scores and stringing together some impressive combos.
1. Use Your Fingernails
This might sound like an odd tip, but there is a method to this seeming madness. As you will be dragging or swiping left and right most of the time when moving the ball around, that could result in your device’s screen getting sticky if you’ve been playing for several minutes (or even a couple hours for the truly addicted) on end. Use the tip of your fingernail instead to maneuver the ball around once the screen gets too sticky; make sure not to scratch your screen too hard, as that might damage it! Gentle slides will more than suffice.
2. The Moving Platforms Are Dangerous
Once you reach your 35th to 40th point or thereabouts, you will encounter the moving platforms for the first time. You won’t see them too often going forward, but their mere presence is enough to throw a lot of players off. 4. What Can You Buy With Your Gems?
New balls would cost you 200 gems each in the in-app store, and all you’ll be getting are balls with different designs. That should be good news for anyone who gets bored easily with the stock design available, likes to switch from one design to the next, or wants to collect in-game stuff. But remember the genre of this game – arcade/casual. You won’t be getting any special powers when you use the new balls, but if there is one advantage some balls have over the others, the multicolored or checkered balls are usually easier to track, and could potentially help you earn a higher score.
5. You Can Also Collect Balls Through This Method
What method are we referring to? Well, the game comes with two balls that come free of charge and won’t cost you any gems. Thing is, you’ll need to follow/like the game on Twitter and Facebook (one social media platform per ball) in order to unlock them. You can easily do this if you have the Twitter and Facebook apps installed on your phone, but if you don’t, you can tap on the balls, which would then redirect you to your device’s browser. After that, you can go back to the game, and the balls will be playable, even if you don’t actually end up liking the game on Facebook or following it on Twitter.
