Fantastic Beasts: Cases from the Wizarding World Tips & Strategy Guide: How to Solve Cases Faster

Fantastic Beasts: Cases from the Wizarding World is a new game for iOS and Android based on J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, and it challenges you to test your magical skills as you investigate “unexplained happenings.” You’ll have to find hidden objects, study the evidence presented to you, and interview witnesses, all the while casting spells and trying to protect the titular Fantastic Beasts that are the focus of the cases you’ll be solving. You can also join the game’s growing community, and see how well you’ve been doing against other players from around the world, or lend a helping hand to other friends who may be playing the game.

Want to solve those mysteries faster, and make the most out of your time playing this game? We can help you with that, as we cover multiple topics in the game and present to you our Fantastic Beasts: Cases from the Wizarding World strategy guide. We’ll be talking about all the tips and tricks you need to work on cases faster, while maximizing any rewards that may be available to you in the game.

1. Replay Scenes

You might not see the point in repeating scenes you have already completed, but this is something you’ll actually want to do. This will allow you to improve your chances of unlocking more stars and scoring more points. Keep replaying those scenes, not for the sake of grinding, but rather so you can memorize the location of the items. Memory is important here, as it is in other detective games, so you want to keep that item placement in mind by replaying scenes, rather than playing them at random.

2. Don’t Be A Stranger, Add Some Friends

As you may have gleaned from the game’s overview, Fantastic Beasts: Cases is a game that has a social element to it. And while it’s completely optional to add more friends, it’s nonetheless recommended that you do. Adding friends allows you to send and receive energy, and get valuable assists if you’re having trouble solving a particular case. You don’t want to use up all your hints, and it’s always best that you go for the biggest possible bonus by solving a case with all five hints remaining. Furthermore, it can be a pain to wait one hour for your energy to replenish; you’ve got cases to solve, and it can be a momentum breaker if you want that long!

Aside from asking friends for energy, there’s another way to skip the waiting process, and we’ll tell you about it below.

3. Use The Time Lapse Cheat At Your Own Risk

We’re not quite sure whether this cheat would work, and if it does, we advise you to use it sparingly, as a lot of game makers have cracked down on players who frequently adjust the time and date on their devices to “time lapse” to their benefit. If you’re all out of energy and don’t want to wait for it to be replenished, you can leave the game, move the time forward by one hour, and reopen the game, hopefully with all your energy restored and the extra time recorded. This may also be possible when trying to speed through research and get through it faster. However, we must warn you again that time lapsing, if possible in the game, is a privilege that should not be abused, lest the game’s makers suspend or ban you from the game!

4. Upgrade Skills With Your Coins

The best way you can spend your coins to your benefit is by upgrading your skills. Use those coins you’ve gathered through playing the game by going to the corresponding menu and upgrading the skills you already have. You can acquire new skills by making your way from level to level, so you’ll really have to work with whatever you have. But if you can buy some upgrades, go for it whenever possible.

5. Maximize The Use Of Your Helpers

We already illustrated why it’s a good idea to add friends in the game, even if it isn’t a strict requirement. Now let’s look into why you should put some effort into managing your friends and helpers. The short answer is to earn you more points, and that would mean using friends/helpers who offer a complete set of five hints when you’re playing those easy scenes you’ve probably replayed before. Having more unused hints means more points, after all. In addition, you might want to save helpers with more than one hint if you’re just about ready to unlock a new scene. Having a friend around to lend a hand could be the difference maker you need to the case.

Once again, it’s not enough that you add more friends to the game. You should also manage these friends carefully and properly so that you end up scoring the most points and earning the most stars.

6. Complete Mini-Games For More Energy

Aside from waiting, asking friends, and risking your status by doing the time lapse, you can also get additional energy by playing the mini-games. The faster you complete those mini-games, the more energy you could earn when they’re complete. Take note, however, that mini-games require stars in order for you to play them, and that you should definitely take them seriously, even if the term “mini-game” does suggest something less essential to your success than other game aspects.

7. Make The Most Out Of Your Downtime

Now if you don’t need additional energy, you can bypass the mini-games and interview witnesses instead. You should also be putting your ostensibly idle time to waste (and we’re often talking about a lot of time here) by following up clues and leads that require your immediate attention. Also complete more scenes to get yourself more stars, and once you’ve got enough stars, you can go back and give the mini-games another try.

8. How To Deal With The Bonus Scenes

Fantastic Beasts: Cases has bonus scenes that aren’t really too important as compared to the main scenes, but may be a good way of collecting more points and stars. You can save those scenes for last, and save them for a time when you know the related scenes like the back of your hand. Just a word of caution – bonus scenes aren’t gimmes by a longshot. They’re more difficult than the standard scenes. They also give you less stars per points earned, so set your expectations in terms of the potential rewards.

9. Brew Potions When You Get The Chance

You will have a chance to brew potions once you’ve reached level 3, and once again once you’ve hit level 7, with the option arriving later with each passing progression. You can use potions while playing scenes to give yourself a nice boost, but you won’t be able to get them easily. Once again, you can ask help from your friends in brewing the potions, but you can also head to the in-game store and buy some brewing ingredients. Still, potions are another optional choice in the game, and not a requisite for completion in any way.
