BitLife One Person Band Challenge Guide: How to Complete the One Person Band Challenge

As we should all know by now, challenges are what keep most BitLife players coming back for more every weekend and at the start of the new week, and it’s easy to see why — you’ve got a given theme and a set of four to six tasks that you need to complete before the limited-time event expires.

And when it comes to challenges based on major BitLife updates, it’s been quite some time already since BitLife makers Candywriter rolled out the Pop Star Update for iOS and Android users, but we haven’t really seen too many challenges based on that update in recent month. That looks to have changed with the latest challenge rolled out.

This week’s BitLife challenge definitely falls into the category of old-school challenges that don’t come with any nod to popular culture or intellectual properties. The One Person Band Challenge is for all the players out there who enjoy making rock stars out of their Bitizens, and while this may appear to be a classic grind-em-out affair, you may be pleasantly surprised to find out that the grinding is quite minimal. But if you’ve run into a wall at some point in the challenge, we’re here to help, as this BitLife mini-strategy guide covers everything there is to know about the One Person Band Challenge.

Getting Started — Music Should Be Your Special Talent

Creating a character for the One Person Band Challenge should be the easiest part, and in a way, it is — your character can be male or female and can hail from any part of the world, and there isn’t any specific stat you should be aiming for if you don’t have God Mode and need to re-roll till you get the right combination of attributes. But one thing you should make sure of is that your character should have a Special Talent in Music.

Granted, it is possible to complete the One Person Band Challenge even without a Special Talent, but with Music as a Special Talent, all it’ll take you is about two or three lessons (or even one, in some cases) before you become proficient at your instrument. And take note of the term “proficient” — mastery is not required here, so you really don’t have to grind too much in that area. All you need is a Skill bar that’s about 70 to 75 percent full or higher and you can be considered proficient. But which instruments should you be focusing on when trying to complete this BitLife challenge?

Know Your Instrument Types

The One Person Band Challenge would require you to be proficient in a string instrument, a percussion instrument, a brass instrument, and a wind instrument. That’s four different types, but which one is which? The first two should be easy — strings could include any type of guitar, or more classical instruments like the violin or cello, while all types of drums fall under the percussion category. Brass instruments include the trumpet, saxophone, tuba, and trombone. Lastly, wind instruments include the flute, and even more niche instruments like the kazoo and didgeridoo.

Simply pick one of each instrument type the moment you turn 6 years old, and start taking lessons, and if your parents let you learn another one — this would depend on their (hidden) Generosity stat — you can choose another one from a different type. We haven’t seen any instances where parents would let their kids learn three instruments, but typically, their Generosity extends to two. Again, remember that you do not need to reach 100 percent mastery for each instrument — about three-fourths would be fine.

The next time you can learn a new instrument would be at the age of 18, after graduating from high school. Of course, you’ll need to have a job in order to afford those music lessons, and depending on the instrument, each lesson could cost you $500 or $1,000. Keep on grinding until you hit that 70 to 75 percent mark, and you should be fine for all four types.

How to Become a Famous DJ

This may be the part of the challenge that would throw some BitLife players in a loop, but it’s actually easy as well. Right now, there isn’t any option in the game that would allow you to become a club DJ, so you won’t find this option anywhere in the Musician career track. You will, however, likely need to quit and restart BitLife quite a few times until Disk Jockey appears among the available job choices — once again, if working at a certain job is among the challenge’s requirements, BItLife will make the job appear less frequently among the choices unless it’s related to the character’s college course.

Take note that this particular task would require you to be a traditional radio DJ, and while that might sound counterintuitive to the name of the One Person Band Challenge, radio DJs do know a lot about music and are expected to.

Assuming this is the very first job you got after graduating from high school, you can expect to be famous at the age of 25. Just keep using the Work Harder option to get your Performance up to 100 percent faster, don’t get into any feuds with, play pranks on, or spread rumors about your co-workers (and especially your boss), and avoid the temptations of the rock n’ roll lifestyle — you know, the ones you can find when going to the club. That way, you can become famous at a very young age instead of waiting until you’re in your 30s or older — again, this is assuming you opted to forgo college after finishing high school!

Reach that Famous DJ milestone in the game and assuming you’ve completed everything else, that will do it for the One Person Band Challenge. As is the case after every successful challenge, you can claim a new hat or eyewear from one of the four prize chests, and add that accessory to your collection of items for your character and for NPCs alike.
