Airline Manager 2023 Guide: Tips, Tricks & Strategies to Build a Successful and Fast-Earning Airline

Ruling the skies in the world of business is the theme of Airline Manager 2023. As the CEO of a new airline, you need to be smart, greedy, and unrelenting to soar through the rankings and build a well-reputed brand in the aviation industry.

The journey on the way up, fortunately, is not by any means boring. That is because Xombat Development’s Airline Manager 2023 has the two main ingredients that make a simulation game great: a logic that is close to reality and the “hit” of satisfaction for every progress made.

In Airline Manager 2023 (previously titled as Airline Manager 4), you begin your journey by choosing either Easy or Realism mode. Their labels are quite self-explanatory.

airline manager 2023 cheapest fuel

Clearly, if you are a beginner, choosing Easy would be the smart choice as it will let you get a good grasp of the game since it is “friendlier” to decision-making errors. Easy mode features shorter flight times and lower prices on fuel and carbon quotas.

In light of establishing a respected airline in Easy mode, we have prepared this Airline Manager 2023 guide. Here, we are presenting to you 13 tips, tricks, and strategies to make your airline skyrocket to success!

A BRIEF VIEW OF THE BASICS

airline manager 2023 game start

The crisp-looking interface may appear not welcoming from the start—it almost gives the feel of opening serious finance-related apps like Binance or IQ Option. This trait is what draws a mature player base and an engaged community, which is surprising for a game with no fancy visuals nor a set of promising depth or twists. Airline Manager 2023 is simply more than meets the eye.

As a business simulation game, your aim in Airline Manager 2023 is to build an empire from scratch and then accumulate wealth to expand your business. Technically, you aren’t starting from scratch because you will be given an initial $10 M cash apart from a decent starting aircraft that costs more than $4 M, which will be aptly named “First.”

airline manager 2023 bonus sheet

With your $10 M capital, you need to buy airplanes, pay for route fees, and purchase fuel and carbon quotas. Carefully appropriating your capital to meet the tasks in the Bonus Checklist should be the main focus on your first few days of playing Airline Manager 2023.

Your responsibilities and regular expenses include carrying out aircraft maintenance (A-checks and repairs), running marketing campaigns, and preserving the morale of your employees.

airline manager 2023 responsibilities

Overall, Airline Manager 2023 is quite easy to be familiar with. If you could get past the understandably slow first few days, it won’t take long for you to realize how could a game this simple have a competitive player base.

With the basics all clear now, let’s get you on the runway to riches with the best practices we have figured out playing in two different accounts. We have incorporated tips, tricks, and strategies from veteran players and in-game resources to make this truly the only guide you will ever need to succeed in Airline Manager 2023.

1. CHOOSE A GOOD STARTING POINT

airline manager 2023 usa starter

Location affects a lot of factors that tell how profitable an airport or hub can be and the topmost consideration would be its immediate reach—international reach, in particular. That is because the more neighboring countries you have, the more capital cities you can access even with cheaper planes.

Choosing a country with a huge land mass like the USA, Canada, or Brazil, brings in the need to buy more expensive aircraft (those with a range of above 3,000 km) just to set international flights to major cities. Sure, neighboring nations may be accessible to planes with a shorter range (especially if a base/hub is near a border) but the overall reach will still be limited.

The general advice from elite players and content creators is to choose a location that is somewhat isolated by a body of water yet has countries nearby that are reachable with cheaper aircraft. Fitting that description well are Western Australia, Libya, Singapore, and any Western European nation.

airline manager 2023 west aus

Western Australia, although beyond 4,000 km far from Indochina, can use stopovers within Indonesia to reach further destinations. Libya has easy access to Europe, the Middle East, and the rest of Africa to its south.

airline manager 2023 singapore

Singapore has a lot of demand, being a highly-industrialized nation, situated at the heart of a busy region, Southeast Asia. Countries on the Eastern side of Europe have short-range access to other European states, Northern Africa, and Asia Minor; long-range planes launched here can reach North America with ease.

Practical tip: Pick Singapore as your starting point to take advantage of the high demands in the major cities of nearby countries. The strategic location also allows you to service multiple, high-traffic airports in India, Thailand, China, and Australia. If you have picked a different location for your base, even Singapore’s secondary airport, Seletar, would serve equally well as a hub.

Speaking of which, when your airline is financially ready, consider building a hub on every continent and space them nicely for maximum coverage. Hubs located in major cities will be more expensive so you must look for the second or third-best alternatives around it.

2. BUY SPACIOUS PLANES

When browsing aircraft within the Order tab, four key pieces of information are present for each. The ones you will see would be the maximum flight distance / speed / seating capacity for economy class / and fuel consumption per kilometer.

airline manager 2023 browse planes

Those details are direct and pretty much all you need to know in deciding which ones can work well on what your priority is. Whether you’re going for longer trips that take half a day or ones with short turnaround times, a plane that can seat more passengers will always mean bigger profits.

You cannot expect a flight to be fully booked. The numbers that you should look at early-game are around half of the max. value for each seat type. If a plane can accommodate 102 pax, you’d be lucky to carry 54 passengers per trip. The percentage of seats taken per flight has a direct correlation with your airline’s reputation—a matter we will discuss in better detail later.

airline manager 2023 seats taken

To give you an idea, check the example we have above. By default, the F100 can carry up to 122 pax but we configured it to have Business and First Class seats too. The modification has tweaked the seating capacity to 94 with a distribution of 74-12-8 for each class. On its first flight, it was able to ferry 47-7-4. That means it flew with 59% of its seats occupied.

Practical tip: In the very early stage, you can start with a small fleet of Il-114-100. When you have built a steady stream of profits, let your next ones be BAe 146-300 or DC-9-10.

NEVER buy long-range planes that can only take less than 20 passengers; you would rarely profit from them. There is a dedicated section in this guide for the most ideal planes based on which stage of the game you’re at and their corresponding strengths.

3. RESEARCH DISTANCE OF PROSPECTIVE DESTINATIONS

This tip is intentionally situated between sections 2 (buying an aircraft) and 4 (scouting routes) because its aim is to serve as a reminder of how you can minimize errors. Knowing the actual distance between your airport/hub and a target destination can save you from the trouble of buying underwhelming aircraft.

airline manager 2023 sub-750

Most spacious aircraft that are priced under $750k have a very limited range and there are only a few decent exceptions. If you have chosen a strategic, yet somewhat isolated base location like Western Australia, Japan, or any Northern African country, getting real information first on how far your target destinations are would be brilliant. There are two ways to plan your next aircraft purchase.

First, is to do a quick Google search. For example, if you want to capitalize on the decent demand of tourists from China flying into Korea, a quick search of “distance (airport location) to (destination) in kilometers” will give you an idea of which planes fit your plans.

If you are not keen to switch apps while playing (or are simply lazy to do so), the second method is well within the game–the Research tab. We will tell more about it in the next section. You can reach it via the Fleet menu and there are four fields to fill for fine-tuning your research.

Practical tip: Focus your research on knowing how far your target cities are and always give a 200-kilometer allowance when buying the aircraft to serve the route you have in mind. This especially applies when you’re relying on stopovers to extend an aircraft’s reach.

4. ALWAYS SCOUT FOR BETTER ROUTES

When you enter the route assignment interface, a pin will appear at a random destination. The destinations you can get from it are rarely optimal (translation: do not trust it right away). If you’re yet in the process of feeling things out, we suggest that you inspect one by one the cluster of farthest destinations that an aircraft can reach.

airline manager 2023 route checking

While a greater distance always means a higher ticket price, a bigger factor in choosing should be the demand. The differences in demand between neighboring locations can be sharp so when you get to the part shown in the right screenshot above, avoid tapping the “Create Route” command immediately.

Take your time to ensure that a destination has a decent amount of demand; the auto-price values and route fees are just secondary concerns. The numbers you see under the Today’s Demand will tell if there are enough passengers to ferry to-and-fro in a 24-hour cycle. Those values may fluctuate, but any decreases in projected passenger count will not be greater than 200 pax (in Y class).

If you have formed a route with low demand (the projected Y-class passenger count is less than 250), you can either opt to pick a different route right away or simply go along–clear the available passengers and then re-route after. Just make sure to take a tab of the assigned aircraft so you can ground it in its “last” trip.

A quick clue: you can never go wrong if you target capital cities or major towns; they always have a good amount of demand. This is where knowledge of geography comes into play.

The in-game Research tool is almost the perfect instrument for scouting. Easily accessible through Fleet > Research, it defaults on Route search which is the more useful tab in it.

airline manager 2023 using research

You simply need to select your base or any of your hubs in the first field. Next, you can either declare a max distance or arrival country. The min. runway length is not a matter you should be concerned about in Easy mode, so you can leave it as is.

Feeding a number on max distance is preferable if your aim is to maximize the per-trip earnings of a certain aircraft in mind. Meanwhile, shall you select a country in the arrival field, a secondary dropdown menu will reveal every single airport in its territory.

airline manager 2023 capital routes

Selecting a certain airport and country practically eliminates the need to avail of the Capital Routes add-on, which is something that you cannot buy organically (without spending real currency). Sure, you can try grinding the amount, but it will literally take you months.

Keep in mind though that for you to access any airport that a country has to offer, the plane that you must assign should have enough range to get there without using a stopover.

airline manager 2023 best routes only

Practical tip: By far, the most efficient way to maximize an aircraft’s potential is by using the destination search function. Key in a distance that is 100 to 200 kilometers less than an aircraft’s range as a straight trip or with a stopover. When you get the results, simply tap on the Y-class tab to reveal the most profitable route your plane can reach; any of the first 2 or 3 results should give you a handsome yield.

5. PURCHASE FUEL AND CARBON QUOTAS WHEN PRICES ARE LOW

One of the main foundations of ensuring a good profit from your flights is how well you can stockpile your fuel and carbon quotas. Flight consumes both resources, essentially making them your constant “factors costs:

In economics, factor costs refer to the materials, actions, and consumables you have to pay to complete a certain process which you earn something from. Therefore, the less you spend on factor costs, the greater your margin or income will be.

airline manager 2023 fuel sample

The prices of fuel and carbon fluctuate throughout the day every 30 minutes (at the :00 and :30 mark of every hour regardless of which time zone you’re in). The fluctuations are totally random; there can be instant spikes and dips and any gradual increase or decrease you may see are purely coincidence.

Moreover, there is no definite hour when the prices are guaranteed to be low. While prices are not steady, these are our general rules for stocking up:

– Fill your reserves when fuel prices are below $800.

– Secure 2 to 3 million units when fuel prices are within the $800 to 1,099 range; this value is enough to get 20-40 flights airborne.

– Limit your purchase to 1 to 2 million units when fuel is at $1,100 to 1,600 especially if your top earning routes are ready for departure.

– If the price of fuel is within the high range of $1,800 to $2,500 (the price ceiling in Easy mode), you can purchase a million units but make sure to manually send just the most efficient flights.

– Since carbon quota is cheap, feel free to hold your max every time, except when the price is $180 or higher because buying 4 million units or so at that price will hurt your budget in the early game.

airline manager 2023 low fuel

Practical tip: Since all flights require fuel, you will always be forced to buy. However, despite that constant need, keep in mind two basic things: one, the default value of fuel is $1500 per 1k gallon, and two, it’s “easier” to observe profit by checking the amount of fuel usage flight versus income per flight.

If you buy fuel for a price higher than the default value, you will have a smaller margin. Remember, the point of sending flights is to earn; there is no backlash to letting your planes stay parked until the prices of fuel and carbon reserves become more favorable.

Furthermore, if you are running a new account you should aim to complete the Bonus Checklist tasks as soon as possible. Completing the items in the checklist will give you loads of cash, Points, a discount for two beginner aircraft, and free +1 M capacity for your fuel and carbon quota reserves.

airline manager 2023 active purchase

You have to prioritize finishing them before focusing on expanding your fleet because the conditions for the free capacity upgrades may not automatically take effect if your constant need for fuel and carbon quota is already high. If the auto-unlocking of the fuel capacity eludes you, you will need enough Points to “purchase’ the first expansion; don’t worry because you won’t be charged for it.

6. RAISE REPUTATION WITH MARKETING CAMPAIGNS

airline manager 2023 campaigns on

Accessible through the Finances menu, the Campaign tab has two basic offerings to sway the preference of passengers toward your brand–that is by paying for Eco Friendly and Airline Reputation campaigns. They serve as buffs that give your airline a temporary reputation increase.

Reputation is a crucial element in Airline Manager 2023. The percentage you see when you check the Campaign tab tells how many seats may be sold per flight. We’d like to emphasize that the occupancy is not guaranteed.

airline manager 2023 rep x capacity

In the image above, campaigns increased our reputation to 93%. Our Tu-334-200 can seat 126 pax and 93% of 126 is 117. As you can see, only 113 Y-class passengers have boarded and that is just about 90%.

Based on our observation, a flight may have up to 10% less than the expected number of passengers even with a campaign on. This is regardless of how much demand remains in a route. Still, having ongoing campaigns will always mean that your flights will be more cost-efficient (in terms of time and fuel).

There are two default types of campaigns, Eco-Friendly and Airline Reputation. You can only unlock the third and fourth options if you will purchase Cargo and Charter Flights licenses; experts discourage unlocking these as they don’t come close as profitable as ferrying common passengers.

Eco-Friendly guarantees a +10% boost, provided that your airline has a positive number in CO2 quotas. Airline Reputation, meanwhile has four options, each offering a varying range of random increases.

airline manager 2023 campaign choices

Campaigns are expensive and the costs go up in proportion to the size of your fleet. But you need not worry about affording two campaigns at a time. You will be able to cover the costs back in just 20 to 40 flights. Simply put, the more aircraft you have, the greater you will feel the impact of having a high reputation.

Practical tip: After a long break or when all of your flights are on the ground, go for the most expensive one, Campaign 4, since it is certain that your longest flights will benefit from it. Consider having campaigns as a shortcut—without them, it may take some routes five trips to clear the day’s demand; with them, and if you time them right, you will only need three.

The daily rhythm that we recommend is to start with Campaign 4 and then each time you open the game throughout the day, refresh Eco-friendly and pair it with Airline Reputation Campaign 2 or 1 depending on how many short flights you have.

airline manager 2023 hub gain

Apart from running campaigns, you can gain an absolute 1% increase in reputation for every single hub you have. Hubs are expensive, though, with costs ranging from $1.5 million to nearly $30 million each on top of a fee worth 20 Points. Thus, the reputation increase from a hub is something that should only be treated as a perk and not a boost to depend on.

7. DO NOT HESITATE TO GROUND FLIGHTS

If you have multiple short-distance flights, you must keep an eye on the number of remaining passengers as the day progresses. This is particularly true for routes that are less than 4,000 kilometers long, especially if the assigned aircraft have the seating capacity that can clear the demand.

airline manager 2023 demands covered

Once you notice that the demands in some routes approach the lower two digits (under 60 pax), consider grounding flights. Note that regardless of how many passengers board a flight; the fuel cost stays the same. You may still earn a margin but it will be far from what is optimal.

The best way to ensure maximum earnings in Airline Manager 2023 is to widen the gap between cost and fare earnings per flight. What you earn on a flight must be beyond the cost of fuel and carbon quota consumption. If the ratio is 1:1 (e.g. earn $50,000 for consuming 50,000 liters of fuel) or worse, you’re at a loss. The ratio you should aim for is 3:1 or better.

airline manager 2023 efficient flight

To illustrate it clearer, see the example above: we used up 15,906 liters of fuel and 14,563 carbon quotas in a short-distance flight that earned us $71,270. At maximum prices in Easy mode (fuel at $2,500; carbon at $200), the cost of this flight is $42,677.60 ($39,765 for fuel and $2.912.60 for carbon).

For servicing 73 pax, we then earned the difference which is $28,592.40—still a gain no matter what the fuel and carbon quota costs are. However, we sent this flight when the demand is already near-depleted. Had we waited for the next day’s reset, we would have earned more.

Practical Tip: Familiarity is the key to avoiding under-booked flights; take mental notes of which routes tend to deplete quicker than the rest. Consider renaming the aircraft that are the usual prospects for this so you will not be tempted to hit the Depart shortcut button when you see the list of planes ready for departure.

8. CONSIDER REROUTING FLIGHTS

If you’re not a fan of grounding flights or you prefer to keep your aircraft active, route switching is a solid alternative. This trick is basically appointing a new route to a flight and then restoring it to the original one once the demands have replenished.

The reset time of demands in Airline Manager 2023 is every 6:00 am at your local time, no matter which time zone you are in.

Rerouting is advisable if you wish to squeeze in as many flights as possible while Marketing campaigns are still active or your roomier aircraft have already cleaned up the passengers in their routes.

airline manager 2023 reroute eligible

Smaller planes are eligible for this trick too as long as they’re faster than 800kph. Additionally, it is important to only select relatively short routes (5000 km or less). Must you do it, renaming the planes before rerouting will be a good idea so you will have no trouble remembering their original routes and be able to assign them back with ease.

Since you will have to pay two route fees for this tactic (one for the new route and another to revert), it should exclusively be done on your most efficient aircraft that can out-earn the costs and net you profit even if the extra flight would just be a two-way trip.

9. MANAGE A-CHECKS AND REPAIRS

Setting A-checks and repairs is hard to miss since the Maintenance icon will bear a red dot when at least one aircraft is due for either. When you interact with it, the go-to options for convenience should be to carry out bulk checks or bulk repairs.

airline manager 2023 maintenance

However, seasoned Airline Manager players always maintain that there is an efficient way to deal with this chore. That is to skip on repairs as much as possible and just do A-checks instead.

While A-checks are more expensive, any aircraft that undergoes one will be fully repaired too. It’s generally okay to let an aircraft gradually accumulate wear and tear and reach a “red” value. You can let one be worn up to 50% until it is within 24 hours due for an A-check.

airline manager 2023 audited

On the other hand, it is inadvisable to postpone A-checks; should an aircraft be beyond 24 hours past due time, your airline would be at risk of being audited. If you get audited, you cannot send your planes on the ground for trips until the audit is over. The duration of the audit and the corresponding cash penalty for it is proportionate to the size of your fleet.

Practical tip: Always ensure that your routes are connected to your base or a hub since A-checks and repairs can only be done there. If you schedule a bulk A-check or repair and you notice that a plane included in a batch has not been dealt with, it means that it is not touching a hub.

airline manager 2023 rename

This is exactly why renaming your aircraft is a good idea when rerouting so you can quickly find them and know the nearest hub you can send them to for maintenance purposes.

If an audit caught you at a truly bad time and you do not have enough cash to pay for it, there is a trick to skip the grounding aspect of the penalty. All you need to do is manually find the aircraft with the longest overdue A-check and sell it. You may need to sell more than one if you spotted a few that has an “Hours to check” value worse than -24 hours.

Even if selling aircraft is a financial loss, getting rid of the cause of the trouble will at least allow you to send flights again and regain wealth to pay for future penalties and maintenance fees.

9. UPGRADE YOUR AIRCRAFT

There are three modifications you can give to an aircraft: CO2 reduction, speed boost, and fuel consumption reduction. The most useful of which is the one that cuts fuel use by 10% and we will break down there why is it such.

Reducing CO2 emissions is a decent choice but is rather unnecessary since buying CO2 reserves is not as hurtful on the budget as fuel is. Instead of affording this upgrade, simply make it a habit to replenish your CO2 reserves after you have sent one full batch of flights.

airline manager 2023 dc-6b

Upgrading just the speed of an aircraft is not advisable, especially if your intention is to make a slow aircraft faster. Increasing the speed of an aircraft works to improve its efficiency, but taking advantage of the change is circumstantial. Let’s say for example that your first attempt at intercontinental travel forced you to buy a DC-6B, which has the cheapest combination of capacity-distance-fuel cost under $1 M.

airline manager 2023 speed upgrade

To illustrate why it is not advisable to upgrade speed, let’s set a theoretical flight of a DC-6B. Let’s say that the travel distance is 4,000 km and by default, with its cruise speed of 507 kph, it will take 7.89 hours (7 hours and 53 minutes approx.) to reach the destination.

A DC-6B with a speed upgrade can cover that distance 10% faster or within 7.17 hours (7 hours and 10 minutes approx.) since its average speed will be 557 kph. The upgrade shaves 43 minutes off the default’s ETA.

That time difference will only be significant if you will keep the app open for most of the day or if you have the time and freedom to check in for more than 20x daily, thus allowing you to quickly set flights as soon as they land.

Even if you have that much time on your hands, the varying distances of destinations and ETA of flights mean that departure batches can never be uniform. The efficient and practical approach to managing your airline is to visit every few hours and then send flights in batches. Airline Manager 2023 is technically an idle tycoon game, so playing smart—believe it or not—beats sheer diligence.

10. AIM FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT TASKS

Having as many Points as possible is an undeniable advantage in Airline Manager 2023. We ran two accounts in mastering the game for this guide—one is purely organic; the other, we topped up to buy Points.

airline manager 2023 a380-800

The one we invested in, took us a month to buy the most expensive and efficient aircraft, the A-380-800. Meanwhile, we needed two months to amass that kind of wealth from sheer grinding.

Points give you access to necessary upgrades (fuel and carbon quota capacity expansion), pay for new hubs, and unlock optional yet helpful features like Cargo Ops (additional flight service type) and MCDU (a control interface for more serious users).

airline manager 2023 achievements

Apart from accomplishing the Bonus Tasks, the only certain and organic way to earn Points is by getting Achievements. You can check these targets when you tap on the Company icon and by scrolling down a bit. The number of Points you can grab from Achievements ranges from +5 to +50 and bagging all 87 of them should be the constant aim as you reach the end-game phase.

Running a quick Google search for “Airline Manager 4 Achievements” will lead you to guides that tell what is required to meet the conditions for each. If you’re yet new to the game, you will realize that most of them are not doable yet. As such, we have compiled here the easier ones that we have tested ourselves.

Below are Achievements that you can claim early game even without creating a route:

  • Airline owner – an automatic achievement that will trigger for a fresh account
  • Enlightened – tap on the Help icon and enter the FAQ tab
  • Map operator – switch unto a different map type for the first time (upper right corner icon)
  • Create any advertisement –claimable the first time you run an Airline Reputation campaign
airline manager 2023 airbus
  • Airbus – tap around Occitanie, France until the prompt appears
  • No. 4 – zoom into Kyiv, Ukraine then tap around the left side of the tip of the small body of water
  • Just a click – open the Mail window and tap spam across the gray bar on its bottom until it pops
  • Ms World Discoverer – tap around under the name Solomon Islands (northeast of Australia)

These Achievements require a little spending or can be done just with cheaper aircraft with a max range of 2,500km or less:

  • DC-3 – simply buy a DC-3 (not the cargo version) and send it to any flight
  • Aircraft expert – claimable as soon as you buy your first plane after the First
  • Flight recall – recallany flight shortly after a takeoff (do it for a short flight for minimal losses)
  • Greedy – slide the Cost Index to 0 (default and max is 200) before sending any flight
  • Order refund – order one aircraft and cancel it right away
  • Audit – the first time you get audited actually gives you +25 Points
  • Ferry – send any aircraft to a ferry flight (an empty flight meant to return to a hub/base)
  • Stopping up – create any route with a stopover for the first time
airline manager 2023 heading north
  • Heading north – create a route connecting WSSS to VTBS | Singapore – Thailand
  • Capital operator – create a route between the capitals of any two countries
  • El Classico – run one flight bridging Madrid Alfonso Suarez and Barcelona airports | Spain
  • Big five – make a route connecting Nairobi Int. and Dar es Salaam | Kenya – Tanzania
  • Rain to sun – send a flight from Rome Ciampino to London Heathrow | Italy – UK
  • Crossing France – create a route between Berlin Tegel to Barcelona | Germany – Spain
  • McJazz – have a flight connecting San Bernardino and New Orleans Int. | USA
  • Across the States – create a route connecting KLAX and KJFK (stopover allowed) | USA

The above-listed 24 Achievements should be able to net you about 260 Points. Add that to what you can earn from the Bonus Checklist tasks and you will amass enough of this precious currency to aid your future expansion plans.

11. USE YOUR TRAINING POINTS

When you level up (fill up the green experience bar on top of the main screen), you will earn a Training Point. Those points can be allocated to improve the departments of your airline.

airline manager 2023 training point

You can spend these points through Company > Staff > Training. In the Training Menu, there are five categories and each upgrade will cost a point. Since it takes time to earn one, it is only proper to allocate them for the most beneficial upgrades and below should be the order of priority:

First Priority:

Operation Training > Skill Training – Pilot > Operations Training – Pilot Efficiency > Reduce Fuel Consumption > Reduce CO2 Emissions

Second Priority:

Service Training > Fleet Manager Training > Increase Fleet limit

Third Priority:

Operation Training > Skill Training – Technician > Reduce aircraft wear and tear rate > Reduce Repair costs

Fourth Priority

Management Training > Staff Morale

Upgrading those four departments will taper some of your operational and expansion costs and they will fully synergize with however you want to grow your airline. The remaining ones are totally optional and should be put aside until you max the ones mentioned above.

airline manager 2023 allocate training

Events have a tiny chance to serve your pre-existing routes. Cargo requires you to buy the Cargo Ops and spend Points; unfortunately, it offers an inferior earnings ratio compared to passenger flights and profit is only possible when you buy planes that are upwards of $20 M.

Negotiation Training will help maintain your staff’s happiness levels with their salaries; the amount you will save by upgrading this, though, is only worth the value of a few flights (translation: easy to offset). Lounge/Catering will always be a negative expenditure; you would not be able to offset whatever cash you will dish to get these services available or only turn with minimal profit.

Training Points are free yet their impact can help you boost your profit and slow down your expenses. Using them wisely will aid you in your management and expansion goals.

12. COMPLETE THE DAILY SPONSOR CHALLENGES

airline manager 2023 sponsor

Airline Manager 2023 is carefully designed to be player-centric. It breaks from the norm in casual, idle-simulation games where there is always a looming threat of unavoidable ad-watching phases. In fact, the limited ads are something that a serious player would instead seek rather than avoid.

A player can only watch up to 10 ads a day and the perks from watching are simply too good to miss. To give you an idea, the “worst” reward is $50,000 cash and the chance of pulling one is balanced with the better benefits, which include winning a free Point, +4000 fuel storage limit, and +4000 carbon quota capacity.

airline manager 2023 daily ad max

Once you have watched 10 ads, you will earn a “star” that will unlock a powerful bonus. The potential rewards include the following:

  • 10% discount on fuel for 24 hours
  • 10% on marketing campaigns for 24 hours
  • 4x aircraft speed for an hour (will only affect the departures after claiming)
  • 5% hangar discount for 24 hours
  • 10-hour postponement of all A-checks
  • +2% morale bonus for all staff
airline manager 2023 huge bonus

If you managed to collect stars for 14 consecutive days, you will earn an even more powerful bonus! In the screenshot above, we got a +4,000,000 fuel capacity increase. What’s great about this increase is that it did not push the price of buying an extra capacity from the Bonus menu.

Practical Tip: The timed boosts can be pocketed to maximize their application. You can postpone claiming until 7:59am of the following day, so if you foresee a wide window of time when you will be off the game, you can opt to use it at a more favorable hour.

Saving up a 24-hour perk and activating it at the tail end of the day cycle lets you stack two different bonuses or space two similar ones to extend the effect.

13. JOIN AN ALLIANCE

Even though it is feasible to go up in ranking and run a fledging airline just by yourself, being part of an alliance will give you both direct and indirect benefits. The direct advantage will be in the form of codesharing. This real-life aviation industry practice translates to gaining a few more booked seats on your flights.

How do I know how many passengers my plane has to take off

@Elso, Hi! Sorry to have only checked back in now. You can check the remaining passengers for a particular route (this depletes and replenishes daily). If there are more passengers remaining than your plane's capacity, there is a good chance the trip can still seat the optimum passenger count. Note though that Airline Rep still counts so if there are 100 passengers left and you have a plane with 80 seats, the flight does not guarantee 80 pax--it will depend on the Reputation still.

Thank you for well-written guide! Although I've played it for several months now, I've learned something new from your article. I have to emphasize some downsides though: If you're willing to pay real money, you can get to final phase very quickly, which is discouraging for us free players. Community is unfriendly, whenever I ask a beginner question, I got only bullying answers, no actual help. So I'm still in two minds if I like this game or not.

@Koscelice, Hello! Quite unfortunately, there are some bad apples indeed. Especially if you end up joining a "farm" alliance which serves as the recruitment point for bigger/higher alliances. There are still nice people in the in-game message board tho.

And yep, we agree about buying game currency with real money; the account where we got that "help" progressed cleaner and faster! Still, good news that a path to progress is well open for free-to-players. :)
