We’re once again at that period where we’re waiting for Candywriter to release a new BitLife update that adds a host of new features (or a new special job) to the long-running life simulator game. And there isn’t any better way to make this wait seem faster than it should be, whether you’re playing the game on iOS or Android, than by completing yet another weekly challenge. So what do the folks at Candywriter have for us this week? Is it another pop culture-inspired challenge, or is it one that doesn’t have any real-life inspiration to speak of?
This week’s BitLife challenge sees a return to the classics, those Candywriter originals that aren’t inspired by anything (movies, TV shows, etc.), or anyone famous. And just like many of those classic/original challenges, the Lucrative Lexicon Challenge comes with an alliterative title and a lot of old-fashioned grinding — perhaps too much for some players, if we’re being honest.
But we were able to complete the challenge nonetheless, and if you’re having difficulty completing the Lucrative Lexicon Challenge, be sure to keep on reading this BitLife mini-strategy guide, as we’ve figured out the fastest possible path to completing the challenge with as little rework or repetition as possible.
Getting Started — You Can Become a Famous Author By Your Mid-20s
The Lucrative Lexicon Challenge does not have any gender- or country-based requirements, so you can create a male or female character from any part of the world. We would recommend re-rolling until you get a character with at least 50 Smarts, but other than that, there are no specific requirements when creating a character for this challenge.
The first requirement in the challenge is to become a famous author and to do this, you’ll first need to find work as a Writer. This job doesn’t pay much at first, but it only requires a high school diploma, so you can start working at such a job from the age of 18 onward. Just make sure to avoid any outside distractions (legal problems, substance abuse problems, etc.) and keep using the Work Harder option to max out your Performance bar as quickly as possible. That way, you should receive that Famous Author pop-up at around 25 or 26 years old, assuming you started working straight out of high school.
Watch the “Movie Version” of the Dictionary
BitLife has long allowed players to read any one of dozens of real-life books via the Mind and Body menu under Activities. These titles may range from children’s books that range between 20 to 30 pages in length to massive novels from the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien and Stephen King that can exceed a thousand pages.
This collection of books also includes the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, which clocks in at a whopping 3,300-plus page. Given that you need to tap on the on-screen book icon to move from one page to the next, does that mean you’ll be in for a taxing grind while reading the dictionary as required by the Lucrative Lexicon Challenge?
Fret not, because that no longer is necessary, as BitLife recently added a feature that lets players watch the “movie version” of any given book. That means watching a 30-second ad video from start to finish to reap all the benefits (mostly Smarts-related) of reading a book the traditional way. Yes, we’re now wondering what the Merriam-Webster Dictionary would look like on film, but you can indeed watch its “movie version” to complete this requirement without breaking a sweat.
The Real Grind Happens While Trying to Go Viral
When it comes to the recipe going viral on BitLife, the sad truth is that the secret sauce, if it does exist, is still a tightly guarded secret. That is to say, it largely hinges on luck and the type of post you’re trying to get viral with, as well as the social media platform. In the BitLife universe, Facebook is one of the harder platforms to get viral on, as we’ve observed it ranks well below Instagram and TikTok, slightly below YouTube, and possibly below the recently added Twitch as well.
And blog posts aren’t anywhere as enticing as challenge or dance videos, sexy pics, thirst traps, and other types of posts that tend to get a lot of likes and/or attract a lot of additional followers. That means it’s going to be quite the grind to get that viral Facebook post out of the way.
Interestingly, we noticed that it gets especially hard to go viral once you reach your 30s and beyond — perhaps indicative of the real-life trend of social media influencers traditionally (but not always) being below that age range.
So with that in mind, we suggest aiming for a viral Facebook blog post as soon as possible, and maybe restarting the challenge/creating a new character if you haven’t gone viral by your early 30s. Limit your posts to around three a year, and while you can try mixing things up in the type of content you post on Facebook, you may also run the risk of that non-blog post going viral. Take note that the earliest point you can create a social media account in BitLife is at the age of 13.
It may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but for what it’s worth, it’s this grinding that makes the Lucrative Lexicon Challenge one of the most “classic” BitLife challenges we’ve played in quite some time.
“Adult Fiction” May Count as Anything That Doesn’t Have Your Name
Some of you may be wondering about the requirement in the Lucrative Lexicon Challenge that asks you to write adult fiction. But how could that be when BitLife still does not allow players to choose their genre when publishing books? Add to the fact that all the stock titles to choose from when publishing a book all resemble those of typical memoirs or autobiographies.
Thankfully, this appears to be a red herring of sorts, as all you need to do to complete this task is to publish your first book. However, we’d err on the safe side and choose a title that doesn’t include the user character’s name — that would mean book titles such as “Things I Did Done Do” or “Averagely Endowed.” It doesn’t matter if the book does poorly in terms of reviews and sales — just as long as you’ve published a book that counts as “adult fiction” per the challenge’s requirements, you should be good to go.
Publishing Bestsellers Gets Easier as Your Fame Increases
One reason why first efforts in the book publishing game don’t often do well in BitLife is that these opportunities usually arise when your Fame bar is still around 20 to 30 percent full. So with that in mind, as well as the final requirement to publish two bestsellers, we would advise doing everything you could to get your Fame as close to 100 percent as possible.
That means staring in commercials, posing for magazine photoshoots (which could offend your parents or your partner/spouse), posting more on social media, and getting your social media accounts verified. These are the most common ways to increase your Fame stat, though there are also random events that could momentarily set you back on the road to superstardom.
Chief among these are those scenarios where another celebrity may insult you — you need to choose whether to ignore them or return the insult, and the right choice is completely random. (Choose wrong and you risk losing a huge chunk of your Fame!)
That aside, BitLife typically allows you to publish new books every four to five years, so just as long as your Fame is steadily increasing or remaining close to, or at 100 percent, you should have a good chance of publishing a bestseller. Have two of these and that should wrap up the Lucrative Lexicon Challenge and allow you to pick a prize chest for a free accessory — as usual, this could either be a new hat or new eyewear.
