Metal Slug is probably one of the most popular IPs in the history of arcade gaming. It comes as no surprise that the game has finally made its way to the mobile platform. Metal Slug Infinity is a unique idle RPG for Android and iOS devices. In this game, you get to help out Marco Rossie and his gang fight off Morden’s army. Fans of the original game would be delighted to see that the familiar art style of the game has been preserved in this mobile version.
The game has also adapted to the popular idle genre of the mobile platform, allowing players to enjoy this classic even if they have busy schedules. You can upgrade your soldiers, equip different slugs, and use skills in order to keep progressing. As with any idle game, though, the progress will eventually plateau. 1. Play Actively
Even though you are playing an idle game, the best way to progress more quickly is still through playing actively. This is especially true in the earlier levels of Metal Slug Infinity, when your troops are still weak. Pay attention to what’s going on in the game and tap where you are needed. The P.O.W. will appear randomly with a Help icon over his head. Tap on him to rescue him, and he will reward you some extra gold. You should also watch out for the Touch icon on the screen because it means you can send a Slug on a rampage to wipe out nearby enemies.
2. Don’t Forget To Your Upgrade Soldiers
You should upgrade your troops as they progress through the stages. Tap on a soldier to upgrade him as much as you can. You can then move on to the next soldier and do the same. Try to upgrade your troops evenly in order to maximize the use of your resources. When you have more troops to choose from, make sure you have at one soldier for each elemental type. This will help ensure that you have a well-rounded team that is ready for any scenario.
3. When To Prestige
If you are an idle game veteran, you would be familiar with the Prestige concept. This is a common feature in most idle games where players can reset their progress in exchange for permanent boosts. Metal Slug Infinity also has the Prestige feature available as early as level 30. The best time to Prestige for the first time, however, is after you reach level 100. After that, you should try to push your progress further to level 200 on your second playthrough. On the third, you should aim for at least level 300. It may seem like a lot of work but trying to progress further with each playthrough will help you gain the most bonuses once you finally do the reset.
4. Invest In The Right Boosts
Resetting your progress will increase your Commander level. This, in turn, allows you to unlock more boosts every time you Prestige. When choosing which boosts to invest in, make sure you put a lot of gems towards Type Master and Forward Base. This will help you reset your army to a higher level instead of starting from scratch. Investing gems into Base upgrades is also useful. For example, the Upgrade Transportation Corps boost speeds up your progress while offline. This means you will have plenty to look forward to whenever you log back into the game.
5. Get Some Slugs
Slugs are essentially tanks that help your army wipe out enemies and progress further in the game. To get one, you will need to go to the Excavation Site. You will need to use tickets in order to unlock them. Once you have Slugs, you can beef them up by playing through the Slug Camp levels. You will get upgrade materials from these levels, allowing you to strengthen your favorite Slugs.
Slugs also have the ability to teleport your soldiers to higher levels. This is useful for quickly playing through low levels after your Prestige. The higher the level of your Slug, the more levels you will be able to skip through warping. To equip or change slugs, just tap on the slug icon on the lower right corner of the screen. Choose the slug that you want to equip then tap on Deploy. Keep in mind that you can only equip a slug that matches the soldier’s type.
Slugs do not stay on the battlefield permanently. After a few seconds, the slug will overheat and self-destruct. You will know when this is about to happen when the slug turns red. When this happens, you have the opportunity to wipe out a lot of enemies by tapping on it. After you tap on the red slug, it will move towards enemies and explode, dealing massive damage to everything in its immediate vicinity.
6. Play The Other Game Modes
There are several game modes available for you to try out in Metal Slug Infinity. The most popular one is the PVP mode where you can test out your skills against other players from around the world. You’re probably wondering how PVP works in an idle game. Well, first, the strength of your soldiers and slugs depend on your Commander Level. Any enhancements you made prior to the match will not count. Your soldiers will then have to kill off all enemy soldiers or the warp tube. The winner of the match will receive a battle speed boost and 10 gems. Keep in mind that you earn one free PVP ticket every hour. Try to use the tickets as you earn them because you won’t earn any more if you let them sit at the maximum.
There are also various dungeons for you to complete in order to upgrade your soldiers’ star levels. If you are on a quest for more power, you can purchase War Books and complete Boot Camp missions. War Books increase your stats that can help you out of trouble.
7. Drop By The In-Game Store
Even if you have no plans of spending real money, you should still drop by the in-game store from time to time. Check out the Soldier Slug and Buff sections of the store and see if you like anything they have. These sections allow you to spend gems, so you will be able to shop there without spending real money. You can also claim a free gift from the Soldier Slug section when you agree to watch a video advertisement. If you have the extra time, you can earn more gold this way.
8. Complete Your Missions
The game gives out Daily Missions for you to complete. You can earn gold, gems, and other rewards by working on these. Don’t worry because the missions involve tasks that you would normally want to do anyway. Make sure you complete all of your Daily Missions before logging off for the day in order to maximize your resource gain.
There are also two other Mission types called Soldier Boost 1 and Slug Boost 1. You can complete these when you raise your Commander level. Finally, there are various Achievements that can be unlocked when you complete Normal and Battle tasks. The more you complete, the more rewards you will get.
9. Check Your Mail For Goodies
The game sends you various resources through the mail. Make sure you check your inbox from time to time. You may receive gold, gems, and other perks depending on your accomplishments in the game. There are also occasional events that would give out prizes through the inbox. If you think you’re missing some items or resources, they might be in the mail.
10. Promote Your Slugs
Don’t worry if you get duplicates from the Excavation Site. In fact, you would want to get duplicates because it allows you to promote your slugs. Promoting your slugs will give them improved stats. To promote a slug, you will need 2 slugs of the same type and grade. Select the slug that you want to promote from the list then tap on the Promote button at the lower left side of the screen. Add materials by choosing the slugs that you want to sacrifice. Tap on the Promote button once more and you will receive a new slug with a higher rating.
11. Leave The Game Running
Even if you cannot play actively, if you can leave your device plugged into a power source, you can let the game run on its own. Your soldiers will continue to battle enemy troops even if you are not present to tap on the screen. Of course, you won’t be able to rescue any hostages or activate any Touch cues, but you will still be earning well. You can also accept Quests before leaving your device and you can return later on to find rewards waiting for you. Always try to keep the game running on your device in order to maximize your progress in the game.
