It seems like remodeling has become a sub-genre for the match-three category. Resort Hotel: Bay Story comes following the footsteps of games like Gardenscapes and Wonka’s World of Candy. Available exclusively on Android devices, the game lets you follow the adventures of Alice, a university freshman who has been given the opportunity to live in her uncle’s hotel while she’s studying. It all sounds like a dream come true until she arrives at a rundown hotel that has not seen any business in years. On top of that, her uncle turns out to be a grouchy old man who hates everyone and everything. Alice does not let this dampen her spirits, though.

She embarks on a quest to restore the hotel as well as the nearby beach to its former glory. Your job is to complete match-three puzzles in order to acquire the necessary keys for remodeling. 1. Log In Every Day To Get Freebies

One of the easiest ways to get freebies in Resort Hotel: Bay Story is to simply log in every day. You don’t even have to play if you are busy. You will receive your daily reward as soon as you log into the game for the first time each day. When you look at the daily login board, you will notice two rows. The first row shows you the reward for each day. The second row shows the rewards you will get if you log in consecutively for a specified number of days. The more consecutive logins you make, the better the reward will be. Try to make time to claim these rewards even if you can’t really play. Rewards include boosters, coins, and even unlimited lives for a certain number of minutes.

2. Know Your Goals

Before you enter a level, you will be shown the goals that you need to achieve. This may include collecting a number of colored tiles, leading the dog to the bowl, or getting certain items to the bottom of the screen. Make sure you check what your goal is, and if necessary, bring along the appropriate booster that will help you achieve your goal. Once you enter the level, focus on achieving those goals as soon as possible. You only have a limited number of moves to meet those goals. If you run out of moves, you will fail the level regardless of your score.

3. Save Your Moves

Even if you are sure that you will be able to complete your goals, you should still avoid wasting any moves. All leftover moves are converted into coins at the end of the level. The same is true for all special tiles that are left on the board. If you can meet your goals while leaving some special tiles behind, it would be better. Coins are hard to come by in this game since you only earn a handful with each level you complete. On top of that, everything is so expensive. You will want to take advantage of any opportunity to make more money.

4. Use The Special Tiles Wisely

If you have played other match-three games before, you would be familiar with special tiles. These are tiles that are created by combining four or more of the same color. The special tile that is created depends on the layout of the blocks that were used. For example, if you combine four tiles of the same color in a square shape, you will get a Frost Rocket. When used, the rocket will destroy the four tiles around it then fly to a random area on the board to destroy another tile that is part of your goal.

In Resort Hotel: Bay Story combining four tiles in a row or column will create a Frost Wave. This tile destroys an entire row or column depending on the direction it is facing when you use it. Unlike in most other match-three games where line bombs are fixed, the Frost Wave changes direction after each turn. Use this to your advantage.

Five or more tiles of the same color in a cross or a T pattern will create an Ice Cream bomb. This creates an explosion that destroys several tiles in the area. The more tiles you use to create the Ice Cream bomb, the bigger the explosion will be. Keep in mind that you can combine the different special tiles in order to create varied effects. For example, combining a Frost Wave with an Ice Cream bomb will destroy three row or columns instead of one.

5. Fill Up The Rainbow Meter

On the right side of your screen is a cylinder that gets filled up with a rainbow-colored liquid. Every time you make a match, it gets filled up a little. Using special tiles will fill it up faster. Combining special tiles or executing combos will fill it up almost instantly. Once it is full, you will receive the reward that is on top of the cylinder. The reward is usually an Ice Cream mix tile that will appear on a random spot in your board. When you swap it with another tile, it will destroy all instances of that tile on the board.

After you get the first reward, the cylinder will be emptied and you can fill it up once more. The reward will be replaced by a score multiplier. Fill up the meter once more in order to gain the reward. Keep on executing combos in order to receive all the rewards from the Rainbow Meter.

6. Don’t Waste Your Boosters

Boosters are special items that you can take with you at the beginning of each level. These will make it easier for you to complete each level. Unfortunately, they are consumable items, and they cost a lot to purchase. The game gives you free boosters every once in a while, but that does not mean you should squander them. Avoid using boosters for any of the earlier levels, even the ones where the tutorial asks you to bring one. Just tap on the booster for the sake of the tutorial, then tap on it again to deselect it before starting the level. There are dozens of levels to complete in this game, and they will only get tougher as you progress. If you cannot, solve the earlier puzzles without the help of boosters, you will have a lot of problems down the road. Hold on to your boosters until you actually need them.

7. When To Continue

When you fail a level, you will be given the option to continue by paying a few hundred coins. This may sound like a good deal, but as we mentioned, coins are hard to come by in this game. The last thing you want is to waste hundreds of them just for the chance to continue. Remember, you only get five extra moves when you continue your game. You need to be absolutely sure that you will be able to complete the level within those five moves or you will have wasted the coins you spent. On top of that, it might be better if you just start over with a level just in case you get a better layout on your next try. Only use the continue option if you have spent multiple lives trying to complete the same level and you are finally within five moves of success.

8. Remember To Use Your Keys

In Resort Hotel: Bay Story every level you complete will reward you with keys. These are used to renovate the different parts of the hotel. You might forget to use them if you got carried away in completing one level after another. Renovating the different parts of the hotel will allow you to progress through the story. On top of that, you also get a hefty reward when you completely restore a certain area. It is alright if you use the keys as soon as you have enough for one task. You can also collect a bunch of them and use them all at once if you feel like restoring an entire area without interruptions. To view the tasks that you need to complete for renovations, just tap on the notebook icon on the lower left corner of the screen.

9. Open More Chests For Rewards

The blue box at the bottom of your screen is a chest. It contains various rewards such as coins and random boosters. In order to open one, you must complete 10 levels. The levels may be regular or event levels. As long as you complete 10 of them, you will be able to open the chest. Try to open as many of these as you can in order to maximize your resource gain. The box will automatically prompt you to open it as soon as you have completed the required number of levels, so it is just a matter of playing a lot.

10. Enter The Tournaments

When you reach level 30, you will be eligible to participate in tournaments. A tournament mostly just involves playing a lot of levels as well. When you join a tournament, you will be given a limited time to earn as many points as you can. Points are earned by playing through levels. The higher your score is in a level, the more points you earn. The points are tallied at the end of the time limit, and the players are ranked according to their totals. The higher your rank, the better the reward will be.

Tournaments are a great way to earn special chests. These chests contain various rewards, including outfits for Alice, alternative pets, and even new decorations for the hotel. Participate tournaments as much as you can in order to collect more exclusive items for your character and the resort!

11. The Ice Cream Party

The Ice Cream Party is a limited-time event that allows you to earn boosters for free. All you have to do is successfully complete any level in order to earn a reward from the event. Each consecutive level that you complete will get you a better reward. The initial reward is a single Ice Cream bomb booster that will appear on your next level. You get additional boosters for every consecutive level that you complete. If you fail a level, your reward will be reset to the single Ice Cream bomb. Try to maintain your winning streak in order to continuously have free boosters for your games.

12. Participate In Seasonal Events

Resort Hotel: Bay Story is pretty generous when it comes to events. Aside from tournaments and the Ice Cream Party, you also get seasonal events where you can earn even more rewards. For example, there is currently a Christmas event where you can complete a separate set of holiday levels. You get to earn rewards depending on the number of holiday levels you complete. Participating in seasonal events not only help you gain more rewards, it is also a good way to take a break from the regular levels, especially if they have gotten too difficult to progress.

13. Link Your Facebook Account

Similarly to other mobile games, in Resort Hotel: Bay Story you are given the option to link your Facebook account in order to save your progress as well as connect with friends who are also playing the game. Linking your account instantly rewards you with 900 coins, a considerable amount if you are a free player. Another benefit of linking your Facebook account is that you get to invite your friends to the game. You earn Friendies for every successful invite. Some renovation tasks in the game can be completed by spending Friendies instead of keys. Try to invite as many friends as you can in order to get some free progress on your renovations.

14. Watch Ads For Free Coins

At the top of your screen is a coin icon with the word BONUS written on it. Tap on the icon and you will be asked to watch a video advertisement in exchange for some coins. Accept this offer and an ad will play. You will then be rewarded with 20 coins at the end of the video. It may not seem like much, but it is the only way to earn a few more extra coins in the game. The ad offer will go on cooldown for a few minutes every time you accept it. Try to watch an ad whenever you have the chance in order to earn a lot of coins.
