Rich Inc Guide: Tips, Tricks & Strategies to Live Your Virtual Life to the Fullest

In most games, money is often the means to an end. Whether you need to buy units, upgrade equipment, pay for projects, conduct research, or pay someone off, cash is just a stepping stone on the way to your goal. In Rich Inc, however, money -is- the goal. Greed is good in moderation, after all.

Rich Inc is a life simulator where you’ll be taking control of a young man just barely out of his teens. You’ll need to help him make a name for himself by finding work, lodgings, companionship, education, and so on – all until he reaches his goal of showing those rich bigwigs that he can do it. All in all, it’s just like a capitalist Tamagotchi. Aspiring multimillionaires can make cash on both the Google Play Store and the App Store.

As a simulator game, Rich Inc is very easy to pick up and play. If, however, you’d like a sneak peek into the game’s systems or have some questions about how stuff works, read on!

In this beginner’s guide to Rich Inc, we’ll be covering:

• The basics of finding a job.
• The things you need to spend on; namely, your six basic expenditures as well as happiness, health, and wishes.
• Alternate income stream to reach your cash goal faster.

For Your Sanity – Ads

An important foreword before we begin.

If you’ve checked the reviews on the Google Play Store and the App Store, you may have noticed a large number of people complaining about the number of ads. Sadly, they’re not wrong – you’ll often have to watch a new ad every 3 or so minutes.

Thus, if you really enjoy Rich Inc and see yourself playing the game for a long time, I highly recommend going for the ad removal. It’s a one-time payment and will save your sanity in the long run.

If, however, you plan to struggle as a full F2P (like I did), it’s a good idea to close the game instead of watching long ads – those 45-second unskippable ones with an extra 10 unskippable seconds after the main ad? Yeah, just close the game. Begone!

Now, on to the guide proper.

Raking In Cash

The goal of Rich Inc (if the game’s title didn’t clue you in) is to amass a large amount of wealth. To win the game, you need one billion dollars in your account (if you want to see how many zeroes that is, it’s 1,000,000,000) and own 18 luxury cars. Or, you know, just settling with a good amount of cash in your bank account. The game is rather open-ended, after all.

The unfortunate reality is that you’re a jobless nobody at the start of the game. To climb to the top, you’ll need to get a job, improve your lifestyle, learn new things, make wise investments, and maybe get a bit lucky.

Quick Tips:

• Finding a job is the most basic way of earning money.
• Each job has tiers; you need to fulfill several requirements to be promoted to the next tier.
• You can pause the game by tapping the pause icon and watching an ad. You can still navigate through menus even if the game is paused.
• Your game ends when you hit the time limit.
• Tap on your monthly cash flow to see your income streams and expenses.

Work

The most basic way to earn money is to work for it.

Each job generates a monthly income. The higher the tier of job, the better the pay, but the harsher the requirements.

Here are the general requirements for getting a new job:

• At least three months prior experience in the job directly above it. You can watch ads to accelerate this requirement by one month per ad.
• Some jobs require certain clothing. You cannot downgrade your clothing while you’re in a job that requires a certain tier of clothing.
• Some jobs require a certain diet. Like clothing, you can’t downgrade if you’re in a job that requires that level.
• Some jobs require certain lodgings. Again, no downgrade if your job requires it.
• Keep on top of your health and happiness – there are dangerous jobs that need you to be in top form just to apply.
• Technical jobs will require certification, and that requires education. You’ll need to enroll in and finish a course before applying for those jobs.
• You’ll need a car to start some jobs. Even the crappy junkyard car will work.

As Rich Inc challenges you to earn one billion dollars, you’ll need to take every opportunity you can get to further your career and earn more money.

Time

Time moves very quickly in Rich Inc. A moment of inattention in real time can mean that weeks or even months have passed by without your Rich Inc character making any progress!

Luckily, you can pause the game at any time by tapping the pause button. This is great for catching your breath, assessing your current options, and planning your future endeavors. More importantly, menus are accessible even while the game is paused. You will, however, need to watch an ad to pause the game.

While time helps you create money, it also heralds the end of your game. Do your best to achieve victory before time runs out!

Income Report

It’s important to know where your money is going. To view a monthly report of your earnings and expenses, tap on your monthly income (or expenses) to the upper left of your character.

Reading your monthly report will help you decide what expenses to cut out and what you can speed up to, as well as help you plan your financial buffer against future spending.

Note that this menu also holds records of winnings in minigames, random event payouts, and current wishes. You can scroll through the different menus by swiping left and right.

The Bare Necessities

If you could only save 100% of your earnings, that’d be great. Alas, there are needs we must fulfill.

Quick Tips:

• There are six necessities in the game. Each of these is generally just needed to hit job requirements.
• Take care of your health and happiness – if these hit zero, it’s game over!
• Fulfill your character’s wishes when they pop up. Leaving these running increases the passive degradation rate of happiness.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Capitalism

If only we could all live in a dried-up wine barrel. Alas, we all have basic needs, and your avatar in Rich Inc is no exception. There are six basic needs in Rich Inc, all of which incur monthly expenses.

• Food is always the most important need. While you can get by on free sandwiches for a long while, you’ll need to upgrade your diet down the road.
• Girlfriends, or companions, serve to fill the gaping hole in your social life. These can range from a pet to paid companionship.
• Education is needed to get ahead in your career. These only incur costs if you’re currently enrolled in any course. After a course is finished, you’re free from the monthly expense.
• Clothes make the man, or so they say. You’ll need to dress to impress if you want higher-tier jobs. Because time is incredibly antagonistic in Rich Inc, your clothes decay monthly and you’ll need to buy new ones regularly, which incurs a monthly cost.
• Accommodations – where you live and what level of noisy and/or bothersome your neighbors are. Nicer places cost more.
• Transport exclusively refers to vehicles as your character has evidently never heard of public transport – or worse, walking.

In general, you’ll need to upgrade each of these necessities to open more (and better) job opportunities.

Health and Happiness

One could argue that work is simply a process by which we generate money by fueling the engine with health and happiness. This is literally the case in Rich Inc and taking care of your avatar’s wellbeing is important to ensure that they’re always their best self!

Health and happiness passively deplete over time even if you aren’t working. These values can be viewed in the upper right of the screen. Take care of your character; while low health and happiness scores don’t impact your job performance, getting either of these scores to zero results in a game over if you don’t save your character via ambulance!

Restoring these values is easy if a bit tedious. Simply tap on the health and happiness bars to bring up methods to restore them. You can always avail yourself of a free low-grade top-up, but you can also shell out some cash or watch an ad to avail of more effective methods of restoring either stat. Do note that the free methods of restoring health and happiness become less effective over time.

While health isn’t a problem in the early game, it becomes much more important as your character ages, with large amounts of health dropping over time. Keep an eye on those meters unless you want to meet an untimely end!

Wishes

From time to time, your character will voice their concerns about their state of life – the neighbors are too loud, their food is too crappy, they want companionship, and so on. Be sure to address these as soon as you can – if an issue is unresolved, it’ll amplify the passive decay rate of happiness!

Additional Income Avenues

Working on a 9-5 is all well and good, but if you’re relying entirely on your day job to carry you to the top, you may as well quit as that’s not going to cut it. To achieve one billion dollars, you’ll need to diversify the ways you earn money so that you’re not reliant on your monthly paycheck.

Quick Tips:

• Unlock a side job as soon as you can as they provide monthly pay in addition to your day job.
• Start a passive income network as soon as you can – extra money is good money. As a new player, always start the food truck business as it needs no capital.
• You can invest money in one of four plans at the bank. The longer the investment time, the bigger the interest. Note that you cannot pull money out once you start, nor add more to a fund.
• Bank funds take real time to process.
• Goals are achievements; they also provide a small burst of cash. You can snipe goals by getting the requirements, then switching back to more sustainable lifestyle choices.
• There are random events that can either make you gain or lose money.
• You can sell old cars via the transportation tab. You can also sell the luxury cars you get as a bonus via the garage tab (transportation -> scroll up to garage). You can upgrade these luxury cars to vastly increase their selling price.
• There are three minigames you can play: slots, find the girl, or money rain. I don’t really recommend any of these apart from slots (which requires calculated risk) but for the love of money do not play find the girl as losing can cost you happiness.
• If you feel like you can make it in time, take on Rich Inc’s daily challenges.
• You get a small amount of cash just for logging in every day, up to $1 million on day 7.
• You can always watch an ad to get a small amount of cash, which is great in the early game.

Side Jobs

Side jobs are additional tasks you can take on in addition to your day job. These can be found in the lower part of the job menu.

Note that side job income is in addition to your day job. Working as both a taxi driver and deputy head of security nets you $800 per month!

Passive Income

No money is sweeter than money you didn’t have to dirty your hands for. By creating a network of businesses, you can kickstart your passive income generation and get rich while slacking off. To start a business, tap the business tab on the upper right of the main menu.

Naturally, you need to spend money to make money. After an initial investment of capital in a business, your passive income will be ready to take off. Each business can also be upgraded, either by paying more money or by watching ads – and these upgrades increase the amount of money that business will make for you. The higher the tier of business, the more money it will yield at the end of the month. The caveat here is that you must manually collect your passive income. If you don’t, it will vanish!

One way to ensure that everything goes smoothly is to hire a manager who will collect money for you. However, you can easily avoid this by paying attention to the business icon. If it’s got z’s, there’s money waiting to be collected.

As a new player, always enable the food truck business as it costs nothing to start.

The Bank

The bank is another form of passive income generation, though, unlike your businesses, this takes the form of investments.

There are four investment plans available:

• 1 day, with 20% interest.
• 3 days, with 50% interest.
• 5 days, with 100% interest.
• 7 days, with 200% interest.

Because of the multiplicative and definite nature of investments, it’s best to put as much money as you can spare into a plan if you’re going to use this method of income generation at all. However, note that the time listed in the bank is in real time and you can’t pull out nor add more funds to a plan that’s been started.

Goals

Fortunately for Rich Inc residents, success is a straightforward path of small victories and accomplishments. You can check these milestones via the goal menu – that’s the notepad icon on the upper left of the main menu, just below your earnings per month.

Goals not only represent your accomplishments but also reward you for reaching them. Almost every step up the mountain of Rich Inc comes with a one-time money bonus to help you reach the top quicker. Be sure to visit this menu if you need a burst of cash!

Note that you can snipe goals. For example, one of the earliest goals is to switch your wardrobe to a shirt and tie. However, your monthly expenses and income won’t be enough to sustain this outfit because for some reason clothes decay at hyperspeed. You can, however, pause the game, switch to the shirt and tie, claim the goal, then switch back to casual clothes. This is a great way to get some quick and easy cash bonuses if you really need them.

Random Events

You’ll sometimes encounter random events that can either give you money or force you to pay up.

There’s nothing you can do to influence these. You can view a log of random events that have occurred via the summary button.

Cars

Unlike food, education, and the clothes on your back, cars in Rich Inc are thankfully impervious to the increased entropy of the universe. What this means for you is that you can sell both old and new cars to recoup some of your losses and maybe turn a profit.

You can do this by going to the transportation tab and then going to the car you want to sell. Just hit sell, and voila – your automotive obligations are gone!

The cars you earn from advancing your career can also be upgraded and sold for a profit.

To view your collection, go to the transportation tab, then scroll all the way up to go to the garage. Here, you can view the cars you already have, as well as the job requirements to get more free ones. You can also pay real money to buy other cars if that’s your thing. More importantly, you can tap the big red “sell” button to permanently exchange that car for a lot of money – but note that you won’t be able to get that car again unless you buy it!

You can also tap on the arrow beside a car you own to upgrade it. This costs either a lot of in-game cash or real money, but significantly raises the selling price of a car. It’s your call whether you’re happy with the base price or want to go higher.

Minigames

If you’re just waiting for the next paycheck, you can play minigames to while away the time. There are three minigames in Rich Inc accessible via the button on the lower panel.

There are three minigames to choose from:

• Slots are well, casino slots. It costs money to pull the machine, and you can increase your wager at the bottom of the screen. Depending on the icons that match (or don’t) you’ll gain (or lose) money. You can watch an ad to vastly increase your win rate, though this isn’t guaranteed – to do so, tap the “Win probability x2” button on top of the machine. If you win, you can watch an ad to double your winnings.

• Find the girl is a simple card game: you pick one of the six cards and hope it’s either the girlfriend card or the secret card. SERIOUSLY, SKIP THIS GAME. At least in slots you can take a calculated risk – here, you have a completely random chance to pick a wrong card and lose not only money but happiness!

• Money rain is easy – tap or tap-hold the wad of cash below to generate free money. Tap the “take” button on top of your character to collect your “winnings”. This minigame is incredibly stingy, but you can increase its effectiveness by 5x if you’re willing to watch an ad. Honestly, you’re better off just watching ads for money.

Daily Challenges

Rich Inc has daily challenges that will task you to complete a mission within a time limit.

The more challenges you complete, the more cash you get. However, note that challenges run in real time. Keep the ads rolling!

Login Bonus

You get some cash when you log in. Note that these cash rewards increase per day to a maximum of 1 million on the 7^th day.

Ad Funds

Finally, if need cash and need it NOW, you can always watch an ad by tapping on the button on the lower right.

It’s not much, but it might be enough to tide you over until the next payday. And hey, $500 goes a long way in the early game!

Inching Your Way To The Top

At the end of the day, Rich Inc isn’t just about optimizing your money-making strategies. It’s about celebrating the little victories – moving out of your tiny dorm to a studio, getting small promotions in your company, switching out your clothes for something a little more expensive and a little nicer. And no matter how far you go, remember your life has been a series of improvements and that you can only keep going up.
