This game is a dungeon exploration RPG type title from the developers Guangzhou DiShiTian Software Co., Ltd. and provides players with a taste of both endless survival and role playing adventure games. Raziel Dungeon Arena is available to download and play for free on iOS devices from the Apple iTunes App Store but currently it is available only for some selected regions although the worldwide release is also planned pretty soon.
The game comes packaged in a large size of 2.01 GB. This is because the graphics are very beautiful and the quality is comparable to a PC game. Raziel Dungeon Arena offers a challenge for every kind of player. The starting two quests of the game will be quite easy for you as they are meant to familiarize you with the gameplay mechanics. However when you progress to the third quest, you will immediately notice the sharp spike in difficulty level that comes with it.
Needless to say this level continues to rise exponentially and the quests that follow will become impossibly hard so much so that you may not be able to reach the next quest even if given a whole hour. This insane rise in difficulty is part of the progressive RPG gameplay style so instead of complaining about this fact you can improve your skill level to beat whatever obstacles the game chooses to throw at you. This guide will help you do just that and who knows if you are a fast learner and a true Warrior at heart, you might be able to emerge victorious from the darkness of the eternal dungeon.
1. Keeping Yourself Alive
The Health Points bar is displayed in green color in the top left corner of the game screen. A great addition to Raziel Dungeon Arena during the recent updates is the increase in your maximum health as you level up by defeating different enemies that you encounter across the dungeon floors. This means that the longer you are able to survive during a quest and kill more enemies, the stronger you will be to face the more advanced floors of the dungeons.
It is quite easy to get fooled into believing that you have a lot of health points after you take down an enemy. What most players tend to miss is the passive regeneration of 1 HP per each 10 steps that you walk in a certain direction on a dungeon floor. Thus during the early dungeon floors, it will appear that you took very little damage during your fight with the monsters. Do not let this passive regeneration mislead you into making hasty decisions during the later levels. As a general rule, you should start to take your HP bar very seriously after the third quest in the game. This is because, enemies present on dungeon floors after this will usually have the power to finish you in one or two blows if you are careless enough to give them the opportunity to attack you.
A very good way to ensure that you will always be at full health when you face your next enemies is to abuse the passive regeneration function in the game. To take advantage, whenever you win a fight with a creature, see how many points you have lost from the HP bar. If you estimate the loss to be more than 1/4 of your overall bar length, then do not walk down any unknown pathways until you have regenerated to your full HP. The easiest way to accomplish this target is by walking back the exact path that you used while coming to your current spot. Granted there are sometimes random enemy re-spawns along the same path but ninety percent of the times you can safely regenerate your entire HP by tracing back the exact path. Be sure to use this trick on the quest which involves fighting the boss because it will be hard as it is to fight with a full HP bar so make sure to keep this advantage in the palm of your hands.
2. Ensuring You Have Enough Stamina
Just like your Health Points bar, your energy bar shows the current energy level that your character has. Located below the green HP bar in the top left corner of the screen of your smartphone, the light pink colored Stamina Level bar has some different properties in the game. You start off with the most basic attack moves which consume very little of your stamina. Therefore, the first few times that you play, you will almost be able to ignore the stamina level bar unless you start using combo moves in conjunction with dashing around for defeating common creatures that you encounter on the dungeon floors.
That being said, a powerful melee attack combo takes a large chunk out of your stamina bar and this can definitely pose a dilemma for you as a warrior. Remember to always save the powerful melee attack combos for the most difficult creatures. You can estimate the hit points you need to deal to a creature by hitting it once if it is far away or using a single normal melee attack on it. If your attacks make almost no difference to the hit points of the creature, it is best for you to initiate the powerful melee attack combo in order to ensure your continued survival on the dungeon floor. However, unlike the HP bar, the stamina level bar does not remain static and is also an indicator of the weariness that your character will inevitably experience once you have covered a dungeon floor or two. There are various stamina restore potions scattered on every dungeon floor and sometimes finding them can be a real challenge but they are well worth the effort because dying from loss of energy is one of the most common sources of failure in Raziel Dungeon Arena.
In addition to being careful with your character in the game, you can also replenish the energy level of your character by drinking potions that are pink in color. Once drunk, these potions instantly refill the stamina level bar so it is highly recommended to save these potions for use before a particularly difficult creature or a boss fight level. Once you have understood the importance of the energy level bar you will definitely take care to keep track of it while exploring the deep dark recesses of the eternal dungeon. Just remember to obtain at least one food ration per dungeon floor at the minimum and you should be well equipped to deal with the horrors that await you should you succeed in surviving for a longer time.
3. Know Your Gameplay Style
Life and Stamina were the two basic and most obvious factors controlling the survival of your character in Raziel Dungeon Arena. Now we move on to the more technical details which will help you make decisions as you manage to proceed further into the deep dark recesses of the dungeon arena and as you move on to more difficult quests.
First and foremost, you need to be aware of the physical strength of your character in the game. This characteristic is denoted by “STR” in the “view” tab of your character’s description. You will start off with a weak Diablo like warrior and you will find many weapons along the way in the dungeons. This means that your character can equip the weapon but it will not prove very useful in combat situations if the weapon is too heavy compared to the strength of your character. Upon choosing to equip such weapons which require a greater strength than you possess, you will also be warned with a note in the game so consider your options well before deciding. Generally it is preferred to have strength over agility on the easier floors of the dungeon because your enemies are very weak and you will be able to finish them off with a single blow leading to faster progression through the dungeon arena. After the third quest, you should switch back to weapons which allow you to have a greater range of motion and dodging abilities because the boss will hit very hard and you need to be able to dodge in order to defeat that monster.
The second characteristic that you do not have any control over initially but can improve as you progress throughout the game, is the “defense” and “armor” of your character. Raziel Dungeon Arena is a RPG style game where the decisions that you make during the course of the game can alter your progression through the dungeon floors. Needless to say, a higher defense will mean you can take much more damage before your HP bar reaches to an alarming level. You will not be able to have a high defense as you start off however and this characteristic can only be upgraded either by leveling up during your exploration of the dungeon or by using the gold coins that you obtain during your adventure. Depending upon your play style, if you prefer to use melee attacks more, putting a few points into defense would prove very beneficial for you. If you would rather annihilate your enemies with SP attack, it is better if you save those upgrade points for powerful spells and AOE abilities.
The Timing Of Your Attacks Matters
Raziel Dungeon Arena employs the extremely famous and addictive attack launching mechanism found in many classic RPG style fighting games. This means that you can simply decide from a variety of enemies on the dungeon to launch an attack on and provided that you fulfill all the prerequisites and requirements for that attack, you can launch your well prepared diablo style warrior into battle with the click of a button right from the screen of your smartphone. The attack launching mechanism is very straightforward and easy to understand even for those new players who are playing such a game for the first time. However, the real mastery comes into effect during a showdown with a boss monster when you will have to control the launch of your attacks to match the situation that you are up against in real time because Raziel Dungeon Arena takes into account real time movements for the boss monsters. This means that you can always stay up to date with regards to the status of your currently available attacks and this will greatly help you in the long run as it will help you decide which creatures or monsters to go after in the following dungeon floors and stages depending upon your current successful battles. Gaining an effective idea of a good attack launch sequence is essential for becoming a good warrior in the dungeon arena as it is the determining factor for the life and death of your diablo style warrior in the dungeon. A good attack launch sequence is defined by how accurately you are able to read the movements of your enemies before deciding to attack and whether your warrior is able to land on the predefined targets after you have launched him into chaos. The precision of your attack timing plays a vital role in how quickly you are able to take down the different types of monsters because your warrior will deal the maximum amount of damage when the attacks land directly on the enemy and takes them by surprise. If the attack is uncoordinated or poorly timed, the damage dealt is reduced and you will have to expend more stamina to defeat the same enemy over and over again.
A very easy to follow tip which will make sure that your attack launch trajectory is almost always accurate is to create a mock attack sequence using your finger on the screen of your smartphone. This might sound like a weird tip but once you try it out you will find the wisdom behind it as you can use this technique to predict the position of the indicator at the launch bar for each enemy creature and monster that you need to take down. This is especially effective during the higher stages when your warrior needs to deal with multiple enemies on a single level and mini boss monsters as well. Knowing the approximate launch sequence beforehand can save a lot of stamina of your warrior and you will be able to land a powerful and unexpected attack on the enemy creatures and monsters much more effectively. Also approximating the attacking sequence will give you an advantage when you will have to change the attack launch controller very quickly because you will already be familiar with the positions required and therefore you will be able to adapt dynamically as you progress throughout the game.
Always remember that once you initiate the launch on the first predefined target around your area, the launcher will not stop until you have either defeated all of the enemy creatures and monsters in the dungeon arena or run out of stamina or HP. The game will be over in case your warrior is killed before you are able to kill all the enemy creatures and monsters and you will get a choice to continue using additional in-game purchases like gold coins which are very hard to come by or give up and start all over again! The choice is yours to make and if you are willing to spend money in game for the purchase of gold coins then launch and slash away to your heart’s content!
4. Special Attacks And Combos
Raziel Dungeon Arena features awesome fighting combos. The developers have made the game much more interesting by introducing the concept of SP (Special Attack Moves) in the game. After you initiate a fixed number of melee attacks, your SP moves bar starts to fill up. This is shown in the top left corner of the screen of your smartphone and is indicated in blue color. This bar is also upgradeable as you progress further into the game and you will be able to use the gold coins that you find on different dungeon floors to increase the maximum SP capacity that you can have. Be mindful that initiating an SP powered attack can quickly deplete your SP bar at the earlier levels and you should try and use the SP attacks only for those monsters which are very hard to defeat using normal melee attacks. Try to never use the SP attack right at the start of a boss battle rather keeping it for the finishing move so that you do not have to worry about the bar refilling again.
The Multi Kill split shot is one of the best abilities in the game which you can obtain if you train your warrior with an Aggressive Personality trait during the character selection phase at the beginning of the game. However, the power of this ability comes with a price as it takes quite a long time to recharge and cannot be used successively. If you have not added upgrade points into this ability, it will take at least 3 turns to come back online and this will cause your warrior to take a lot of damage in the meanwhile. Therefore, it is always advisable to start off with basic attacks on the enemies and when you are left with a single line, you can use the multi kill split shot to finish them all in one go.
Similarly, as you complete more and more consecutive adventures in the dungeon arena, your collection of gold coins will continue to increase until you have reached a handsome amount that can be used to purchase an upgrade for the SP attack bar capacity. It is advised to spend the gold coins as soon as you have enough for the upgrade. However, spending Gold Coins just for the sole purpose of speeding up this process is definitely not recommended due to their rarity. You can only obtain Gold Coins in the game by completing certain objectives and defeating bosses on the dungeon floors. These coins will serve as your main currency to purchase new weapons and upgrades for your character which will play a much more important role as you move on to new unexplored areas in Raziel Dungeon Arena. Therefore resist the temptations offered to you by the game and let time run its course because a true warrior is also marked by the patience that he has in the face of adversity.
5. Dealing With Permanent Death
Raziel Dungeon Arena is one of the few adventure exploration RPG games on the market which feature permanent death in the game. There is no re-spawn from a specific dungeon floor or a checkpoint with a certain number of lives. However, the developers of Raziel Dungeon Arena have made the game much more interesting by introducing the concept of an afterlife in the game. After you die, you are shown your current progress and your best progress since you started playing the game. After this display, you are taken to the gates of the dungeon where you seemingly will start all over again. Your previous journey through the dungeon will help you here by providing you with fragments of memories from your last adventure. You can store these memories in the memory box accessible from the main menu of the game. These fragments of memories, once accessible after a certain time limit, will enable you to upgrade various skills, abilities and properties of your main character in the game. For example the first memory fragment will allow you to put points into the upgrade for faster healing. This upgrade will ensure that your weapon does not deal reduced damage due to being weak from a previous fight with a creature on the dungeon floor.
Similarly, as you complete more and more consecutive adventures into the dungeons of darkness, your collection of memory fragments will continue to increase until you have reached the limit of memories that can be contained in the memory box. When this limit has been reached, you will have to wait for 1 day before your memory fragments are opened or you can choose to spend the in-game currency known as “Gold Coins” to open them immediately. However, spending these Coins just for the sole purpose of speeding up this process is definitely not recommended due to their rarity. You can only obtain Gold Coins in the game by completing certain objectives and defeating bosses on the dungeon floors. These coins will serve as your main currency to purchase new weapons and upgrades for your character which will play a much more important role as you move on to new floors in Raziel Dungeon Arena.
6. Customisation And Extras
No Adventure RPG game would be complete without the promise of finding mysterious things along your way. Raziel Dungeon Arena continues upon this tradition by making available a variety of different recipes, items and potions scattered across dungeon floors. It is also a lure to get you to explore the entire dungeon floor even after you have found the entrance to the next floor but the usefulness of these items is well worth the effort.
Recipes allow you to upgrade certain items like weapons and armor. In addition, items randomly found such as leather boots or sword upgrades can be very useful for you. Similarly, you will find many different potions like the “health”, “stamina” and “mystery” potion hidden in crates or chests or whenever you defeat a monster. The potion description does not indicate what effect it might have on your character and you can garner this information only by drinking the potion or recognize the effects via the color of the potion.
Raziel Dungeon Arena brings with it a truck load of achievements for you to track your progress and motivate you towards higher goals as you continue playing the game. Not only do these achievements serve as milestones for you to brag about to your friends and family, they have in-game benefits as well. When you complete a certain set of achievements you will be able to claim rewards against those achievements and you can track how much you have progressed with the other achievements in the progress menu. It is important that you do not lose track of your main gameplay strategy while chasing after these achievements because then you will not be able to create a balanced style of play.
Just go with the flow and keep a track of your progress because it will be very hard for you to gain many of the achievements at earlier levels and you will lose valuable time and effort trying to achieve these unnecessary milestones. You should also focus on gaining gold coins through normal paths and save the claiming of achievements for when you are in real need of an influx into your balance. Claiming all the saved achievements at once will help make sure that you have a lot of gold coins available and this could possibly make a difference for defeating the dragon bosses or clearing a particularly difficult dungeon or mission.
Whenever you successfully defeat a dragon boss or clear a particularly difficult dungeon or mission, you will be granted with a reward chest which has a very small chance to contain an ultra rare upgrade for your warrior, a normal chance at giving out customization items for your character and a usual chance of giving bonus experience points or gold coins. The ultra rare upgrades which you might obtain if you get extremely lucky in the game include fireball magic knowledge upgrade, flaming swords and thunderous axes which will become part of your arsenal and you can equip your warrior with these amazing weapons which deal a much higher damage output than normal weapons found in dungeons or purchased with gold coins. Mostly, you will get a certain random amount of gold coins from the chests though and these are equally useful in many cases especially when you have a dragon boss fight coming up and you badly need a large influx of gold coins to ensure your survival in Raziel Dungeon Arena.
Magic Treasure chests are items which hold a huge attraction for players of all ages as well as acting as a motivating factor to keep playing the game on the same dungeon floor even after you have defeated all the monsters there. These Treasure chests are strewn all over the dungeon floor and mostly hidden in corners to avoid common sight. They can be opened using silver and golden keys with the golden key guaranteeing a better chance to get high value rewards. Another interesting feature given by Raziel Dungeon Arena is the ability to customize the warrior which truly gives you a personalized feeling while playing the game. You will first be introduced to this feature of the game before you defeat the first boss of your career. The first customization will be a simple steel helmet which looks as if it were taken from the trash but wear it with pride because you are a pureblood diablo style warrior and true fighters always wear anything found during survival as if it were precious jewelry. This initial customization might fool you into thinking that the developers have not really put too much thought into appearances but this is not the case.
When you move to the higher levels and gain access to more gold coins you will be able to craft customization items of your own liking from a wide selection available to you. At this point you can have different outfits, wearable items and even weapons for every part of your warrior. This will not only make your warrior look much cooler and fun to play with, it will also make it much easier for you to keep track of the individual skills of the warrior making dashing and fighting much faster especially during the higher levels. If you are still not satisfied with the quality of in game customization available to you for free, the developers have given the option for you to purchase customization packs using real money through your iTunes balance. These packs include a variety of additional accessories and community made items for the warrior.
