1. Here’s What To Do Before You Enter the Arena

We get it. The whole point of playing a MOBA game is to battle it out with other players. You might want to hold off from entering the PVP arena for a bit, though. There are quite a few differences between the PC version and this game. Hi-Rez is also known for adding its own flavor to the MOBA genre. Even if you are a veteran player, it would be wise for you to play a few AI matches to get yourself oriented. As an added bonus, all champions are unlocked in Practice Mode. You would be able to test out champions before deciding to unlock them permanently. Keep in mind that this is a team game. Even if you are willing to lose a few games while you are still figuring things out, your teammates might not think the same way. Don’t be that guy.

2. Know Your Champions

As we mentioned above, there are about two dozen champions in Paladins Strike. There is no doubt that the developers would be adding more in the future. This is why you should take time to get to know the different champions in the game. At the very least, you should know the different champion roles. You should also try to learn how to use at least one champion in each role. This way, you would be able to adjust to your team’s needs. For example, if your team already has multiple Damage types, you should try picking up a Support. Remember, teamwork begins during champion selection. We have listed the different champion roles below to help give you an idea on how to work with them.

Damage

These champions are the kings and queens of offense. They are in charge of obliterating enemy champions. The current list of Damage champions includes Drogoz, Viktor, Cassie, Bomb King, Kinessa, and Tyra. Cassie and Drogoz are fan favorites. Cassie has good mobility and control, making her one of the best options if you are going solo. Drogoz also has great mobility, but his Rocket Launcher is what truly makes him shine.

Flank

These are also damage dealers, but they specialize in sneak attacks instead of direct confrontations. The Flank champions are Buck, Androxus, Evie, Skye, Maeve, Lex, and Zhin. Buck is one of the top picks in this category due to his mobility and defense. You just need to master his Recovery and you will be able to survive most skirmishes. Androxus has one of the highest attack stats in the game, making him a formidable opponent. Evie’s high mobility and blink ability, on the other hand, makes her one of the most difficult champions to pin down.

Support

As the name suggests, these heroes provide support for their allies. While they are not particularly great at taking down enemies, the boosts they give can make their teammates unstoppable. Grohk, Ying, Pip, Grover, and Mal’Damba are the Supports in the game. If you are still new to the class, you should stick with Ying and Pip. Ying’s attack stat is good for her role and her Illusion ability takes her to the next level. Pip is an average champion, but if you use his Enhancement Potion on the right teammate, you could set up some easy kills. His Evil Mojo ultimate is also something to watch out for.

Front Line

These are your tanks. While they have the ability to deal decent damage, their primary purpose is to take the hits while their teammates deal damage from a safe distance. The Tanks in the game include Makoa, Terminus, Fernando, Barik, Ruckus, and Ash. Fernando is one of the top picks due to his Shield ability. His Charge skill also helps him chase down opponents. Makoa is also great for protecting teammates with his Shell Shield. Not to mention his Ancient Rage that strikes terror in the heart of his opponents.

3. Pick The Right Talent

Whenever your champion levels up, you will be able to activate a Talent. These are stat boosters that help you in battle. You will be given two options at every level up. This can be done up to five times in the game. That means you can have up to five Talents. Make sure you carefully read what each Talent does. You must also take into consideration the current needs of your team, your champion’s abilities, and your own playstyle. For example, if you are using Viktor against a tanky team, you may want to get his Talent that deals additional 20% damage to shields. If you are using a Support like Grohk, you may want to increase your movement speed and cooldown rates when choosing Talents.

4. Know When To Retreat

A common mistake among new players is over-engaging. You don’t really have to fight to the death. Sometimes it is better if you retreat and recover. Wait for the next opportunity to strike. Avoid hanging out in open areas on your own. Stay near grassy areas so you will have a place to retreat to when you’re in a pinch. Part of the game is knowing when to retreat. The last thing you want is to give your enemies a free kill just because you overstayed in battle.

5. Complete Your Dailies

The game rewards its players for being active. Make sure you pay attention to your daily quests in order to earn a lot of treats. Completing quests will get you a lot of experience that you need for increasing your player level. The higher your player level is, the higher your player rank will be. You will also get Tickets needed for buying things. You also get Activity Points every time you complete a quest. You can use these to open Activity Chests. The more you play, the more you will be rewarded.

6. Claim Your Login Rewards

If you are too busy to play, you should at least make time to log into the game daily. The game gives you various rewards for simply signing in. As a new player, you will get Starter rewards during your first seven days in the game. You will also be able to claim regular daily rewards for 20 days. Make it a habit to log into the game daily, even if it is just to get these freebies.

Aside from the login rewards, you also get a free Golden Box spin per day. You can get champion power up cores from this roulette wheel. After your free spin, you can still try a few more times but you will have to pay Gold to do so. If you have some extra gold, try to squeeze those extra spins into your routine for better chances of getting more cores.

7. Get Those Achievements

There are three types of Achievements in the game: Battle, Collection, and Growth. Take time to check them out and try to accomplish as much as you can. Battle Achievements will reward you with a lot of Gold. Collection Achievements, on the other hand, reward you with Tickets, Champion Avatars, and Champion Skins. Growth Achievements will get you Crystals and more Tickets. Don’t forget that you also get a few free Crystals by connecting your Hi-Rez account in the Settings menu.

8. Power Up Your Champions

Once you have gathered all those rewards from the game, you should start building up your rune pages. Each champion has his own rune page that can be customized to power them up. There are three types of runes in the game. Red runes are for increasing damage output. Green runes are for health. Blue runes are for utility. The runes you get from chests will be random. You can get champion-specific runes, but there are also universal runes. Make sure you read what each rune does. Think about how the different runes will work together to help improve your champion. It’s not just about stuffing them with whatever you get your hands on. Some champions benefit more from utility runes than damage ones. It all depends, however, on how you use each champion. Think about your play style, then adjust your rune pages accordingly.

9. Don’t Forget The Shop

Gold is not just for spinning the roulette. You can spend it in the Shop where various chests go on sale daily. The chests change per day, so you have to check regularly. There are times where you can buy chests for certain classes only. For example, you might only be able to get runes for Support classes on a certain day. If you are lucky, you might be able to buy a character-specific chest. This will help you get those character runes that you need to customize your champion. The good news is that you will be able to see which types of chests will be available in the coming days. This will help you decide whether or not you should spend your gold now or wait for better chests later in the week.

10. Focus On Teamwork

This is such a simple concept, yet it is so difficult for so many players to execute. All MOBAs are team games. You cannot win by just going solo. As we said before, teamwork begins during champion selection. It is a lot more than choosing champions that work well together, though. There is still the task of actually working together. Make it a habit to communicate with your teammates. Where are your opponents? Where are you planning to go? Which objectives will you prioritize? Most importantly, think about the position of your teammates before you engage. Coordinate with them before you use your ultimate ability to ensure you all come out of the clash alive.

It is time to choose your champion and enter the Arena in Hi-Rez Studios’ new game Paladins Strike! Just stick to the strategy guide above if you want to win all your battles!
