The Face Scanning integration also allows you to capture your likeness on your mobile device and send it directly to your console game. There are a lot of features to explore in this game, and our My NBA 2K19 strategy guide is here to walk you through everything!
1. How To Be Competitive
If this is your first time playing a game from this series, you may need to take some time to familiarize yourself with the basics. The game is essentially a card collection game where you build your own team and pit it against teams created by other players. Your goal is to simply collect as many cards as possible in order to assemble the best possible lineup. You will also need to improve your best cards in order to remain competitive.
The decision to either go with your favorite players or choose cards according to strength is entirely up to you. If you are feeling lazy, or are not confident in your decision-making, you can always just hit the auto-fill button in the deck management screen. The game will automatically fill up your team with the best cards you have.
2. Try The Different Game Modes
There are several game modes for you to choose from in My NBA 2K19, but we recommend trying them all. While all of the game modes are essentially about comparing card stats, the small differences in rules mean you need to apply different strategies. Once you have played a few games in each of these modes, you will be able to pick one that best suits your preferences.
The primary game mode is the Quick Game. As the name suggests, it is the simplest mode in the game, with minimal mechanics. You just need to play four quarters and win three of the four in order to win the game. There are four primary stats for each card: Offense, Defense, Rebounding, and Playmaking. You will know ahead of time which of these four will be compared. This will allow you to choose the best card for the upcoming battle. Just tap on the card you want to play, and the game will quickly compare it against the stats of your opponent’s card. Keep in mind that a stat might be chosen more than once, so you might not want to choose players that are only good in one particular category.
Daily events, Reigning Three, and 2v2 modes all use player stat comparison with a few additional rules. These three modes also allow you to earn Virtual Currency for your console game. The 2v2 mode also allows you to invite your friends so you can play together. The Reigning Three mode allows you to choose just three cards for your team. Both players’ cards will start off with decreased stats, and will regain those stats gradually every time they win a round. This mode rewards you with special items that are exclusive to the mode. You also earn a special currency from it.
3. Collect More Cards, Here’s How
As we mentioned above, collecting cards will help you assemble the best possible lineup. My NBA 2k19 is generous enough to give you freebies every time you log in for the day. There are other ways for you to earn more cards, though. The first one is to simply play more matches. You will be given the option to pick on ore more cards from a draft board at the end of each match. Naturally, you get to pick more cards if you won. Every time you get a card from the draft board, there will be fewer cards to choose from. The board will reset once you draw a Rare card. The game will also ask you if you want to watch a video advertisement in exchange for four more picks. Make sure you always accept this offer.
Another way to get more cards is to claim your free card packs from the store. You can claim one every four hours, so make sure you do so diligently. The free card packs will not stack, so that means you miss out on free cards when you forget to pop into the store every four hours. You may want to set a notification for it to ensure you remember.
The third option for gaining more cards is by completing your Daily Training goals. Just tap on the star icon next to your player name to view the list of tasks you need to accomplish. Completing your goals will reward you with tickets. These, in turn, can be traded for cards. Make sure you take time to complete your daily goals in order to collect as many of these tickets as possible.
4. Beef Up Your Team
Cards can be leveled up individually through training. Just tap on the card you want to level up then tap on the Train button. Doing so will allow you to sacrifice useless cards in order to level up your chosen card. Basic cards can be leveled up to 10, but rarer cards have higher level caps. Since training your cards cost resources, it would be best if you only leveled up your rarer cards. The investment will be wasted on cards that you will most likely replace eventually.
When a card has been maxed out, you can improve it further by having it turn Pro. To do so, you will need an identical card of the same rarity. You will be able to have the cards turn Pro even if their levels aren’t maxed, but the overall stats would be better if you used maxed-out cards to begin with.
Whether you are playing it as a companion game or a stand-alone, My NBA 2K19 is a lot easier if you remember everything you learned from our strategy guide above!
