Cosmic Showdown Beginner’s Guide: Tips, Tricks & Strategies to Win More Battles

Cosmic Showdown is a brand new strategy mobile game developed by DoubleJump Games Inc. In this game you’re basically a commander in space and you get to have some great quality PvP action with thousands of other players around the world. It’s free to play and it already has a great number of downloads, with a score of 4.3 starts on the App Store, which is pretty good. In Cosmic Showdown, you get to explore a bunch of cool galaxies and conquer your way through the universe.

The game starts with a really smooth and easy-to-understand training. The main mission for you, as the commander of your own spaceship, is, of course, to destroy the enemy ship. It’s a strategy piece, so you’ll have some cards on the bottom of your screen, from which you can choose to use in order to destroy the enemy’s lanterns. After you destroy the red lanterns, your path to the red enemy ship gets a lot easier. In our Cosmic Showdown beginner’s guide you’ll find some good advice and a few helpful tips and tricks here to help you get started with this awesome game.

1. Expanding Your Territory Is Only Possible With Lanterns

In order to be able to place more than just one unit in your “battlefield” area, you have to expand it and to do that, you need to place your own lanterns; They’re basically just like the wards in League of Legends, they give you vision. The difference is that in LoL, they’re a necessity but you can play (poorly) without them; in Cosmic Showdown, you can’t proceed further with your plans if you don’t have them. So, after the lanterns are built, you’re free to go and place other units that you can fire into the enemy’s territory.

2. Collect Crates

After every victory, you get a crate – a mystery box from which you can get goodies: gold, missiles, mini-guns and such others. Each crate you get has a waiting time before it opens, so you have to be patient.

You can upgrade weapon cards by entering your roster and tapping on the “upgrade” arrow.

Once you’ve upgraded your rigs, you gain XP and your weapons gain more power, firing rate, damage or range. The cooldown time and the energy cost of each use of every weapon both get reduced as you upgrade them more and more.

3. Shielding Your Ship Is Essential In Order To Survive

You have to protect yourself, right? Activating a shield in Cosmic Showdown is a proper way of doing that because it automatically deflects the laser shots from the enemy and offers you a chance to intake less damage. The shield can be upgraded too, the same way you upgrade your weapons. After every upgrade, it gains more shield strength and the cooldown time reduces itself.

4. Don’t Worry If You Forgot About The Lanterns

If your game started already but you forgot to put a lantern, you’ll see that your opponent already has put his lantern in the air because that’s one of the first things to do, so that should be a great hint for you. And if that’s not enough, you’ll soon discover that you can’t attack further without your lanterns. Given these facts, I think you could say they’re your best friends.

5. Watch Ad Videos To Get Crates

You also can get a crate by watching a video – a common 21st century way to make you watch ads. I suggest you do that because, well… it’s a free crate, isn’t it? And who knows, maybe you’ll get some really cool and rare stuff to brag about and use against your enemies in your greatest and toughest battles. You can find the Video Supply Crate’s “Watch” button on the main Battle screen.

6. Check The Main Screen For Stats

Now that we covered some ground, we can talk about the main screen of Cosmic Showdown. What will you find here? Firstly, your league status. Mine currently says “Bronze”. As you play more and more battles, you level up and you automatically get a new status.

With every promotion, some new units get unlocked. There are 4 types of leagues, and each league has 3 grades: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum (every one of these has the attributes I, II and III; i.e. Bronze 1, Silver 2, Gold 3). Platinum 3 is the ultimate league, but you have to be a pro to earn this name!

7. Win More Battles To Collect Trophies

The top bar shows you some stuff about your profile: your name comes up first, then you have the player level (in XP). The player level directly affects your ship’s resistance. When you’ve reached a higher level, your ship is more powerful.

Then, you have the Trophies sign. You can get some really awesome trophies by winning battles. But keep in mind: when you’re defeated, you lose some of them, so our advice is winning as many battles as you can. That way, you can climb up the Weekly Leaderboard.

Upcoming is the gems counter. It tells you how many gems you own. You can buy gold and premium crates with the green jewelry, but you have to pay real money to get them.

Next, you have the gold indicator, which tells you how much gold you own. You get gold from the crates you open at the end of the battles and you can use it to purchase and upgrade your cards.
The last button is the Settings button, which comes in handy when you don’t want to hear the music or the sounds effects. You can also change the language of the game to Spanish, but we strongly recommend you stick with English unless you have some Hispanic roots hidden in your DNA. You can also delete your player, or export a player if you’ve recently changed your phone and don’t want to lose all the progress you’ve made on your old device.

This wraps up our Cosmic Showdown beginner’s guide. We hope you’ve enjoyed this guide and found some helpful advice. If you know any other tips or tricks for the game, don’t hesitate to let us know in the comment section below!
