1. Dodge To Win
One of the best ways to win any fight is to hit your opponent without getting hit in return. To successfully do this, you must learn how to dodge. There are three types of attacks in the game: jab, hook, and uppercut. On top of these, there is also the super move which deals a lot of damage. You also get three defensive moves: dodge, block, and clinch. Your opponent also has all these moves in his arsenal, so make sure you pay attention.
If you are familiar with boxing terms, you would know that a jab is a quick blow that sacrifices power in exchange for speed. It is almost impossible to predict and dodge, but you will most likely survive a few jabs. What you need to watch out for are the hooks, uppercuts, and super moves. The good news is that these have longer windups.
That means you will be able to predict when your opponent is about to unleash these moves and dodge accordingly. When your opponent misses, you will be able to launch a counter attack, successfully dealing damage without any risk of getting hit in return.
2. Keep Your Stamina Up
Below your health bar is your stamina meter. When your attacks get dodged or blocked, you will lose a bit of stamina. The lower your stamina is, the slower your boxer becomes. If it hits zero, you will slot down so much that you are practically a sitting duck. Prevent this from happening at all costs.
If you see that your opponent was able to block or dodge a couple of punches, pull back a bit and wait for your stamina to recover. Getting hotheaded and trying to punch your way through a block is a sure way to wear yourself out.
If your stamina drops too low, and you need more time to recover, you can go for a clinch. This will make your boxer grab on to the opponent, preventing him from launching any attacks. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to keep your opponent in a bear hug forever. This is just a last resort if you absolutely can’t find a way to get your stamina back.
3. Mix Up Your Punches
When you are attacking, make sure you use the different types of attack. Don’t just randomly mash the attack buttons, though. Be strategic about it. For example, you can lead with a few consecutive jabs to make your opponent complacent, then suddenly throw in a hook to shake things up.
Just because uppercuts deal the most damage does not mean you should keep throwing them. They are extremely slow and easy to predict. If you keep trying to throw the same punch, your opponent will most likely see it coming. The last thing you want is to allow your opponent to do the same dodge-and-punch trick we taught you.
4. Grind When You Are Stuck
If you meet an opponent who is too strong for you to defeat even with a good hit-and-run tactic, it may be time for you to grind a bit. Just go back to an old battle and replay it a few times in order to gain enough experience to level up. You can also switch to a different mode, so you can try to progress a bit more.
Switching to League Mode will allow you to grind for equipment as well. Completing stages in League mode will reward you with package drops that contain both equipment and money.
5. Raise Your Level
Leveling up has several benefits, one of which is that you get to unlock new things. Reaching certain levels lets you unlock new equipment slots. That means you can take more gear to battle, making you stronger. When you unlock a new equipment slot, try to fill it up as soon as possible. You can fight League battles to gain new equipment. You can also order boxes, wait for them to arrive, and equip the new gear you get inside.
It goes without saying that you should prioritize the rarest equipment for each slot. There are Rare, Epic, Unique, and Superior gear. The higher the rarity, the better. If the options all have the same rarity, you can check the individual traits to see which one works best with your play style. Don’t forget that competition gloves activate for League battles and sparring gloves activate for Story battles. Remember to switch back and forth when jumping from one mode to another.
6. Balance Out Your Equipment
When you are putting on equipment, one of the things you should pay attention to, aside from rarity, is the benefits they give. Try to maintain balance in your equipment as much as you can. For example, when it comes to gloves, you can find one that boosts jabs, one that boosts hooks, and one that boosts uppercuts.
Equipping one of each kind, instead of piling on boosts to just one type of attack, will help make sure you have a good arsenal for your battles. If you equip gear that only strengthens hooks, your opponent will quickly realize that he only has to watch out for one type of attack, leaving you vulnerable.
7. Earn More Skill Points, Here’s How
Training helps you earn skill points needed for upgrading your punches. There are two types of training available. The first one is the Intense Training and it costs coins. The second type is the Extreme Training which costs gold bars. Needless to say, Extreme Training gives you more skill points.
Try to get as much training done as possible in order to earn a lot of skill points. Keep in mind that these take time. You may want to schedule your training right before you log off from the game, so that you will have skill points waiting for you upon returning the next day.
Aside from scheduling more trainings, you should also consider unlocking a second training slot. This will allow you to double your training capacity. A second slot only costs 50 gold. Since you get 200 gold for free at the beginning of the game, spending some of it on a training slot can help you get an early start on your skills.
8. Choose The Right Skills
The game offers different fighting style options for your boxer. You unlock more styles as you progress in the game. When it comes to choosing the right skills, there is no right or wrong answer. It all depends on how you want to play. If you are the aggressive type, you can go for the stunner hunter attribute.
If you prefer to play it safe by dodging and counter attacking, you can opt for the counter master instead. Other attributes include stamina burner and lucky puncher. Try out different styles and see which one fits you the best.
Another thing to keep in mind is the relationship of these skills with each other. Counter Master skills are strong against Lucky Punchers. Lucky Punchers are strong against Stunner Hunters. Stunner Hunters are strong against Stamina Burners. Having the skill advantage in a match will automatically increase the damage for all your attacks.
9. Don’t Ignore The Sponsorship Notifications
These notifications often pop up every time you unlock a new equipment item. While they can be annoying, don’t dismiss them just yet. Completing a sponsor collection rewards you with a bonus attribute. This can give you a great advantage in both Story and League battles since you will be able to beef up your boxer some more with the extra attributes.
10. Add Some Swag To Your Swank
Once you reach a certain level in Boxing Star, you will start earning S-coins. These can be used to purchase various things in the Swank section of the management tab. You can buy a new crib to increase your daily rental income. You can also buy a new car to decrease the delivery timer for the packages you order. Adding a new member to your entourage adds an extra bonus per day. Every new member you add increases the bonuses you get, so it is always a good idea to keep adding more.
11. How To Earn More S-Coins In Boxing Star
Now that you know how awesome those Swank items are, you are probably eager to earn more S-coins. There are several ways for you to do so. First, make sure you link your Facebook account to the game. This will allow you to send gifts to any of your friends who are also playing the game. You should also add even more in-game friends by posting your friend code in online groups. Having a lot of friends means you get to exchange more gifts.
Another way to earn more S-coins is by completing achievements. Just head to the Veteran tab of your achievements since these will all reward you with S-coins. Achievements from other tabs will reward you with coins, gold, and other boosts. Try to complete as many Veteran achievements as you can in order to gain a lot of S-coins.
12. How To Get The Best Gear
Despite what the name suggests, Rare equipment are not really that rare. In fact, they are only one step above the common equipment. Feel free to use these as fodder for your better equipment. If you are wondering how you can get your hands on some Epic, Unique, and Superior gear, there are a few options.
First of all, you can get them as rewards from League battles, but the chances are very slim. You might be able to get a rare pack after winning a League battle which takes a while to open, but the reward will be worth the wait.
If you want to increase your chances of getting better gear, you will need to progress further in the game. You need to move up the Leagues and defeat the most difficult Story bosses. This is especially true for Epic gear since they do not appear in any of the starter packs. You will need to advance to the most difficult levels of the game if you want to even get a shot at finding Epic equipment.
An alternate but expensive way is to purchase packs from the in-game store. Once in a while, you will find them individually in the gear store, but you can also expect them to be just as expensive. You can check the info button on packs to know the percentage chance of getting Superior or higher rarity gear.
Spoiler alert, it’s really low. Finally, you can get more equipment through your entourage. As we mentioned before, you get more bonuses for each new member of your entourage. Each member gets you an extra pack per day. While getting rare equipment from these packs is still depends on luck, at least you get more chances to acquire them. Eventually, you will get lucky.
If you are wondering about Exclusive and Omega equipment, these are not actual rarity tiers. They are special types of equipment that can also be Common, Rare, Superior, Unique, or Epic. These often appear in premium packs, but you also have a small chance of acquiring them as rewards throughout the game.
13. Buy The Starter Packs
When you start out, you will have some free gold. You can use this to purchase premium packs from the in-game store that cost 100 gold each. Doing so will get you 15 different pieces of gear that are of common rarity. It may not sound all that impressive, but all this extra equipment will allow you to greatly increase the level of your starting gear. That means you get a good boost in power at the beginning of the game.
14. Get Into Some Social Brawls
When you head into the social area of the game, you get to customize your character and fight against other players. You could even slap on your own photo on your boxer. Damage in these social battles is doubled, so you will be able to complete them more quickly.
The down side is that you don’t really get any rewards for winning. It does make for good practice, though. You also get to have silly fun with other players in the game. You might even make some new friends.
15. Look For The Red N
When you see a red N anywhere on the menu, it means you have something waiting for you. If you see it in the Gear menu, it means you have new equipment. A red N in the management menu means you have new sponsorships that are close to opening up.
If you see it in the skills menu, that means you have skill points waiting to be spent. Finally, seeing a red N in the achievements section means you have rewards waiting to be claimed. Keep an eye out for the red N, so you don’t miss out on any of your rewards.
