Another week, another BitLife challenge. The life simulator game’s creator, Candywriter, keeps cranking them out for iOS and Android players alike, and it’s very easy to see why the challenge feature is driving replayability and keeping BitLife relevant despite its age. But in case you haven’t played a single challenge yet (and are therefore likely new to BitLife), the game gives you a list of four to six requirements based on the week’s theme. Some of the requirements may be easy to complete, some may be hard, while others may leave you scratching your head in frustration.
The Seaman Challenge is another one of those weekly challenges that takes things back to the feature’s basics, which is no specific pop culture theme (Deadliest Catch this isn’t) and a whole lot of grinding to get what you need and get yet another requirement checked.
Fortunately, there is a way to avoid much of the grinding, and we’re going to be discussing that below, along with everything else you need to know about the Seaman Challenge. Be sure to keep reading this BitLife mini-strategy guide if you’re stuck anywhere in the challenge and don’t know what to do next!
Avoid the Grind by Embarking on a Celebrity Career
The Seaman Challenge may look like quite the grind at first glance, but you can avoid having to serve in the Navy for most of your life (and maybe to the point that you can’t get in as a Greenhorn anymore in the Crab Fisherman career track) by choosing a Special Skill.
As we’ve often noted, non-God Mode players have long been able to choose Special Skills, so you might as well choose one in order to embark on a celebrity career, thus giving you enough money to buy a $2 million boat before you reach your mid-20s. We’d personally suggest a Sports career in basketball or football, as both sports could easily make you into a multimillionaire by your mid-20s.
Before all that, though, you’ll need to go through your early virtual years in BitLife, creating a male character from Alaska to take care of the first requirement. Anchorage is the only Alaska city available in the game, so this should be easy. There’s no need to study beyond high school, as you can embark on a Navy career upon completion of your secondary studies.
However, you won’t be doing that just yet — before enlisting in the Navy, make sure you take full advantage of your celebrity career. The baseline here would be $2 million before leaving the life of a famous person behind, though we’d suggest stopping at $3-5 million to be on the safe side.
You Cannot Get an Honorable Discharge Until You’ve Served Four Years
The next requirement is to get an honorable discharge from the Navy, though unfortunately, you may have to tough it out for quite a while.
Regardless whether you chose to attend college or not (attending college would allow you to apply as an Officer), you need to serve four years at the very minimum before requesting an honorable discharge. And of course, you should avoid any actions that could make your discharge dishonorable — avoid pranking, fighting, or spreading rumors about your fellow cadets!
After you’ve served four years in the U.S. Navy, you can apply for work as a Crab Fisherman, starting out as a Greenhorn. That also means you’re free to move on to the next step of the Seaman Challenge, which is purchasing a really expensive boat and using it at least thrice.
Be Patient When Shopping for a $2 Million Boat
Last, but not the least, the Seaman Challenge will require you to buy a boat that’s valued at $2 million or more. But before buying a boat, make sure you’ve taken the boating license test, which will set you back by $200 — if in doubt about what the symbols mean, you can always do an online search!
Whereas in the past we didn’t have much trouble finding $2 million boats in the boat dealership in BitLife, this proved to be much rarer while we were trying to complete the Seaman Challenge. Once again, it would seem like Candywriter has temporarily nerfed things in order to make the challenge a bit more complicated, but this should be easy to complete with some patience.
We say it’s easy because you don’t specifically need to buy a Crab Boat — you can buy any type of boat that’s valued at $2 million or more, and you’ll still be credited for completing the requirement. Buy that boat and take a ride on it three times, and that should be it — you’ve completed the Seaman Challenge, and you’re now free to add to your collection of accessories by opening one of the prize chests and getting new eyewear or headwear.
