Prepare yourself for one of the toughest endless climbing games in existence. Axe Climber will have you pulling your hair as you attempt to scale an infinitely tall mountain full of obstacles. Available on Android and iOS, this game lets you control a climber who is equipped with nothing but a pickaxe. You will need to swing your pickaxe in order to have it latch onto the side of the mountain. You will then pull yourself upward, slowly making progress towards the peak. It is hard enough to do all this as it is, but you will also have to avoid spikes, eagles, and lava among other things.

1. Plan Your Steps
When you are hanging on to the side of a mountain, there is very little room for error. You don’t really have anywhere else to run to. The climb will only get more difficult as you progress. You start out with mostly normal surfaces, but before you know it, you will be faced with alternating rows of spikes and safe zones. Resist the temptation to rush your progress. Always check what obstacles are above you so you can plan your moves ahead of time. If you are not careful, you will end up putting yourself in a dangerous situation.
2. The Pickaxe Is Also A Weapon
If you time your swing just right, you will be able to hit the pesky eagle, or any other animal for that matter. When you hit them, they will go away, allowing you to climb in peace for a while. You can also use the pickaxe to dig out gems that are implanted into the mountain. Be careful when you hit white snow, though. You will only have a couple of seconds to pull yourself up before the white snow collapses.
3. Unlock More Characters
After you have unearthed a whole bunch of gems, it is time to spend them. You can unlock new characters by spending the gems you have. Each new character has a different appearance, but the gameplay will remain the same. Characters are purely cosmetic, but it is fun to change things up once in a while. To unlock a new character, you can either spend 200 gems to get a random one or pay 400 gems to acquire what you want. If you have any plans of collecting all the characters, it is better if you go with the random pull. You can just resort to the 400-gem unlocks when you only have a few characters left to collect.
4. Earn More Free Gems
You already have a lot on your hands during a climb, so it is understandable if you don’t really want to focus on gem hunting while playing. The good news is there are even better ways to earn free gems outside of the climb. First, you can watch video advertisements in exchange for 25 gems each. You can also get more gems by tapping on the Facebook and Instagram icons in game. Each one will reward you with 50 gems. Finally, if you manage to collect the word “SNOW” while playing, you will be rewarded with 150 gems.
5. Tilt For A Better View
Sometimes, success is all about having a different perspective. If you are having a hard time estimating distance, try tilting your phone to switch to a horizontal view. This way, it will be easier for you to aim and swing. You can tilt your phone again at any time to switch back to the original position, which can be useful when the mountain gets a little too steep. Try out the different positions to find what works best for you.
