Super Mario Run features cute art style, easy-to-learn gameplay, various enemies, and exciting levels.

The game has a simple formula in which Mario has to collect all coins while running forward, and all you have to do is to make him jump and right times. Sure, some will say the game is too short but perfecting each of four free levels will take some time.

While the game is free to download, you will have to pay a bit in order to unlock all the levels, but even the free version can offer a couple of hours of an interesting combination of endless runner and platform game. In a nutshell, if you love Mario games, you will love Super Mario Run!

8. Power Hover

Power Hover

If you’re looking for an exciting, fast-paced, and challenging endless runner, Power Hover is one of the best titles available on Android. Power Hovers provides fast-paced action, increasingly harder levels, a need for constant focus, which is a real test for your reflexes.

The story is pretty straightforward. You play as a robot who has to catch a villain who’s taken all of the batteries needed for keeping the city powered. And that’s it! The game features excellent visuals and an awesome soundtrack, that will keep you satisfied for a long time. While the first eight levels are free, you’ll have to pay $2.29 to unlock the rest. Super Dangerous Dungeons

Super Dangerous Dungeons is probably the best retro platformer on Android. It combines classic run and jump gameplay with extremely cute retro art style, interesting levels and various challenges. This isn’t a fast-paced game, but it requires a lot of thinking and precise control of your character. There’s a classic life gauge that empties after your character gets hit a couple of times, but with careful planning and avoiding tougher enemies, it can be played without getting frustrated by its difficulty.

While Sword of Xolan isn’t one of the most original platform games available on Android, the title manages to perfectly combine interesting exploration with a fun run and jump gameplay along with superb boss battles. There are dozens of levels available, and the game is completely free (with the option of paying a buck to get rid of ads), guaranteeing hours and hours of fun.

5. Sonic the Hedgehog™ Classic

Sonic The Hedgehog Classic

A cult classic, the first Sonic game was (and still is) among the best platform games ever released. It is a high-octane platformer filled with exciting levels, tough enemies, excellent old-school visuals and lots of fast-paced platforming.

You can play as Sonic, Tails or Knuckles (a feature that wasn’t available in the original release), to defeat the evil Doctor Robotnik. This game is perfect for all platformer fans since it offers some of the best levels we ever saw in the genre.

Jump, run, fly, and enjoy the beautiful world of Sonic the Hedgehog on your Android device, for free!

4. Chameleon Run

Chameleon Run

If you don’t mind spending a couple of bucks ($2.19 to be precise) on a mobile game, then Chameleon Run is a perfect choice. This is a combination of an endless runner, which isn’t endless, and an exciting platformer, that manages to hit just the right chords, providing players lots of fun while keeping them glued to the screen.

The premise is simple; you control a color-changing character that can jump up and down while traveling at a frantic pace though various levels. Yes, while it looks like an endless runner, it really isn’t. Each level in Chameleon Run is filled with yellow and purple (or is that rose?) platforms, and each time you jump, you can switch your color. Each level features three different objectives making levels replayable, and adding more content to the game.

You can jump with your feet, or with your head, and the game can be pretty tricky at times, especially in later stages when you must switch colors every second while trying to avoid black platforms and collect all the crystals. The game is bathed in colorful graphics that just screams quality, and it should become a permanent addition to your phone’s gaming library.

3. Downwell

Downwell

Downwell costs $2.99 but is definitely worth it since it won’t distract you with ads nor with in-app purchases. This game is a unique platformer, that puts you in the boots of a young boy who has to reach the bottom of the well while having only his gunbots to protect him.

The game features unique black-and-white art style with only red color thrown in the mix making for a pleasant change in the sea of same-looking games.

You can buy new items, get new weapons and upgrade them while trying to reach the bottom that keeps immense treasures. The game comes with simple and intuitive controls that don’t require a lot of time to get used to them, and each time you get killed it is game over. The good thing is that every trip down the well is different so you won’t get bored easily. Downwell is a nice game that doesn’t cost much while offering dozens of hours of fun times!

2. Cosmo Race

Cosmo Race

A unique combination of racing and platforming with the cute art style, fast-paced gameplay, and multiplayer element, Cosmo Race is one of the best new games available on Android at the moment. NANOO’s game brings you immersive multiplayer battle arena racing, but you can play against bots to practice and hone your skills. The game is built around closed arenas in which you are pitted against five other players in frantic races to the finish line.

Your racer is running at a steady pace, and all you have to do is tap the screen in order to jump, but that sounds way easier than it is. Since the game is multiplayer-based get ready to face fierce competition, but the good thing is that other newbies are also kind of bad (and the game pairs you against players of similar skill) so the beginning won’t be as tough as later stages, once you level up a couple of times.

The races are extremely exciting and include plenty of obstacle-avoiding along with collecting power-ups that, if triggered at the right time, can mean the difference between victory and ending the race in the last place. The game is free to play and doesn’t require any in-app purchases, and it’s one of the most original platformers available for Android devices.
