Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag Cheats, Tips & Guide: 4 Hints You Need to Know

Bandai Namco has been keeping quite busy lately. You’re probably aware of their new action RPG, One Piece Thousand Storm. But the company also has another anime-based game you might want to check out for your Android or iOS device – Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag. This game allows you to join Sword Art characters Kirito, Asuna, Leafa, and other popular fan favorites from the series, and as you would in other games of this kind, you will be guiding heroes and unleashing skills against the enemy, mastering styles, skills, and weapons. These weapons may include dual-wielding or one-handed swords, as well as bows, guns, or magic spells.

Fans of anime-based ARPGs should find this title worth a play, but what if you’re not exactly familiar with the Sword Art Online series, or are simply new to the game and not quite sure of what you should be doing to make better progress? We won’t be taking much of your time, but we do have some Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag tips and tricks that are specifically written for beginners. These tips should be all you need to ensure a smooth adjustment period and make good progress even if you’ve just started playing.

1. How Can You Get New Characters?

Unlike other games of this kind that allow you to choose any character you wish when given the chance, Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag uses the gacha system. This means you’re going to get a character at random, and depending on the character you get from the gacha, you may get someone with a mere two-star rarity rating, you may get three stars, which isn’t too bad, or you may get a four-star character, meaning somebody with the highest possible rarity. Higher rarity means better statistics, though as you may expect, most of your rolls may yield two-star characters, with only a small percentage yielding four-star heroes. Just be patient and you just might luck out and get just the hero you were hoping to add to your team.

2. Improve Your Characters’ Equipment

Since it’s only going to be a rarity (pun intended) for you to get four-star characters, you can make the most of the two- or three-star characters you have by improving them in a number of ways. The simplest way would be to change their equipment once you’re able to find better items, though you can definitely upgrade those pieces of equipment. But take note that more common pieces of equipment will ultimately do you little good as you progress on into the game. Upgrade them if you must, but feel free to replace them if you’ve got more powerful and/or effective equipment.

3. Upgrade Those Abilities

The next way to improve your characters is to upgrade your heroes’ abilities. It won’t cost you too much at first to perform these upgrades, but since the cost of upgrades can pile up, you may need to employ a bit of strategy and just focus on the heroes that are tried, tested, and reliable in battle. Level them up to level 50 as quickly as possible, so that way they can unlock rare four-star abilities and you can use them in battle. Make good use of XP potions if you’re able to come upon them, because that could expedite the leveling up process once you have your characters take them.

4. Higher Difficulty, Better Rewards

You’ll start playing Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag in normal mode, and in that mode, you can expect the most basic of basic rewards. In other words, nothing much. But that’s because you’re in the easiest possible mode, and the rewards do get progressively better as you move up in difficulty. With that in mind, you may want to return to levels you’ve already completed if you’re stuck at a particularly hard level. Replay levels you’ve completed in normal mode, but this time play them in hard mode. That’s going to give you a chance to earn better rewards on a level you’re already familiar with, but remember to prepare for the much higher degree of difficulty! Hard mode is not a walk in the park by any stretch of the imagination, so make sure you’ve upgraded your heroes properly.

This completes our guide for Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag. If you’re a fellow player, who knows additional tips or tricks for the game, please share them with us in the comment section!
