Swing Copters 2 Tips & Tricks to Get a High Score and Unlock New Characters

If Android and iOS game Swing Copters 2 is giving you déjà vu, that’s because the game comes to us from dotGears, a mobile game studio headed by Flappy Bird maker Dong Nguyen. The game is the follow-up to the original Swing Copters, and your goal here is to guide your pilot to go through obstacles and get as many points as you can and recruit more pilots to join your team. Obviously, this isn’t as casual as Flappy Bird was during its brief reign on top of the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The gameplay mechanics are quite simple as well – you tap to start your engine and keep your copter going, and avoid obstacles so you can go higher.

Sure, the mechanics are easy to master, but play this game a couple times and you’ll see how much more difficult this game is in comparison to Flappy Bird. But you can unlock new characters aside from topping your high score or your friends’ high scores, and that’s where we come in, with this set of Swing Copters 2 tips and strategies.

1. Use Two Thumbs

Yes, we cannot understate the fact that this is a rather challenging game to play. But when starting out, and even once you’ve gotten a feel of how things work, you can do better by tapping with two thumbs instead of one. Now here’s where things can get confusing for beginners; when the copter is going right, tap with the left thumb to move left, then tap with the right thumb when you want to move right again. In the end, it’s all very simple, but it does get confusing if you’re playing for the first couple of times. Start out playing with two thumbs and you should be off on the right foot.

2. Understand The Medal System

Medals will allow you to unlock new characters in Swing Copters 2. Getting ten points earns you a Bronze Medal, and if you score 20, you’ll move on up and get a Silver Medal. 30 points is good for a Gold Medal, and 40 points will net you a Platinum Medal. If you score less than ten points, you get this game’s equivalent of a participation badge – a Paper Medal. Earn a certain type of medal so many times and you can unlock characters.

3. The Characters Are Different From Each Other

Kudos to Nguyen, despite his casual leanings, to adding some depth to Swing Copters 2. Each unlockable character has their own stats, namely vertical and horizontal speed and ease of control. Ease of control, in particular, is important, and we’ll tell you why in a little bit.

4. Start Out With Characters Who Have A High Ease Of Control

Don’t be put off by a character whose vertical speed or horizontal speed isn’t up to snuff. Look for those characters who have better ease of control, even if they’re the types to move slowly; once you’ve become more advanced, that’s when you can move on to the fast-moving ones.

5. Keep Your Eye On The Hammers

Many people focus too much on the rebar and try to move their copter around it. That effectively makes you overlook the hammers, which swing back and forth and could mean danger for you. What you should do instead is to move between the hammers, which actually makes it easier for you to focus on the rebar, albeit secondarily.

This is our list of Swing Copters 2 tips and tricks. If you are playing the game and managed to come up with additional tricks, that we haven’t mentioned in this guide, don’t hesitate to let us know!
