The best thing to do is to read the additional help articles that are provided in game, as well as taking time to read what every unit and structure does. It’s fine if you don’t prioritize gathering resources when you are still starting out. You should have enough in the beginning to get by. Just make sure you anticipate the need because costs will start piling up later on. As soon as you start noticing the decline of your available resources, you should send out troops to the resource nodes right away. Don’t wait until your reserves have gone dry before heading out.
4. Develop Your Structures And Army Evenly

You will not be able to gain access to some units if you do not research them first in the Academy.
Keep in mind that researching takes several hours to complete. That is why you should always have ongoing research. If you are about to log off from the game, make sure you queue up research so that it will be done by the time you log back in. You will eventually need to research everything so it doesn’t matter which one you prioritize but try to at least keep the research for your army and your buildings somewhat balanced. Since it takes a while to complete, you wouldn’t want a lopsided base in terms of development.
