PLANK! is a fun new casual game created by Kwalee for Android and iOS devices. In the game, you get to rescue a bunch of cute pixel characters by connecting their platforms with planks. The mechanics are simple. Just tap and hold to produce a plank. Release once you think the plank is long enough to make it to the next platform. If your plank is too short, the characters will fall. If it is too long, the plank will go past the next platform and the characters will walk right off at the end! The characters are too cute, so make sure you don’t let them fall! 1. It’s All About Perspective
Before you start laying down planks, make sure you check the perspective. The platforms can be deceptive, so don’t overly rely on how far or close they look. Instead, pay attention to the perspective of the game. If it is zoomed out, that means you need to make the plank longer than you normally would. If it looks like it is zoomed in, then you need to make the plank shorter. It takes quite a few trial runs to figure out just how long or short the planks should be, so don’t give up even if you keep falling.
2. Aim For Perfection
Whenever you successfully link to a platform, you are given one of three possible ratings. You get a Good or a Great rating if you managed to link the platforms but went a little over or under. The game awards you with a Perfect rating if you managed to lay down a plank that is perfectly centered on the platform. Naturally, a Perfect rating will earn you the most points. This is why you should aim for a Perfect each time.
3. Save Your Measuring Tape
At the beginning of your run, you will receive an ad offer that will give you three measuring tapes. These can be used to accurately create a plank for the next platform. What most new players do not realize is that you don’t need to accept the offer right away. Save the offer until you reach a point in your run where it is too tough to proceed. It’s a good idea to accept the offer once your score comes close to your best score. This way, you can use the measuring tapes to inch your way to a new top score.
4. Unlock More Characters
One of the primary appeals of the game is watching the cute pixel characters scurry across the planks. You can get even more of these characters by unlocking them. Since the game does not have any currency, the only way to unlock new characters is by winning them as free prizes. Characters have varying rarities but none of them have any real impact on gameplay, so feel free to bring along your favorites.
5. How to Play without Ads
PLANK! is all about focus, and nothing messes up focus more than a pop-up ad. If you want to get rid of the ads, you can do so by buying the ad-free version of the game. This will remove all ads from the game except for the ad offers that give you benefits. If you don’t feel like spending real money on the game, however, you still have an option. You can just play the game offline and none of the ads will play. Keep in mind that this option will also remove all ad offers, so think carefully if you really want to go offline.
