What do you do if everything is pitch black and all you have is a tiny ball of light? Make a game out of it, of course! Following the minimalist signature of game publisher Semidome, Nightgate gives you a unique and compelling gameplay without the usual visual clutter. The game is available on iOS. You just need to control your little ball of light through different arenas while avoiding enemies and obstacles. Surviving isn’t as easy as it sounds, though. You will need our Nightgale tips and tricks if you want to complete all 50 levels in one piece.
1. Learn the Basics
This is not one of those times where you can run before you walk. If you jump into the game and start tapping like crazy on the controls, you will end up sending your ball of light flying all over the arena. Take time to get used to the sensitivity of the control buttons. It can take a while but once you have the hang of it, the rest of the game will be a breeze.
2. Keep It Steady
When you’re in the dark, it’s wise not to run around and explore. The same concept applies in this game. You need to guide your ball of light through the glowing circles with as little unnecessary movement as possible. Moving around too much can get your ball killed! Well, balls of light don’t really die but you get the point. Once you have passed all the glowing circles, another ball will show you where you need to go next. Always remember to keep your cool and stay focused!
3. Red Means Stop
Maybe you couldn’t help yourself and decided to explore a bit. Or maybe you’re still getting used to the controls and you ended up straying from your path. That’s fine for the most part. If you wander off and start cruising through the arena, just make sure you don’t hit anything red. You can pass through all the other colors but if you hit red, you will have to start over at the last checkpoint. As you progress through the levels, avoiding red will be more difficult as some of the red dots will be moving around. Avoid them at all costs and don’t get distracted by the other pretty lights.
4. This Isn’t A Race
None of the levels have a time limit. That means you can take as much time as you need in order to get from one point to the next. Don’t rush yourself, especially when you are in a level with red projectiles flying around. Don’t move your ball until you are comfortable enough with your ability to pass through while dodging. You also need to take time to assess where your ball is going next and what path you need to take to get there. The game needs as much strategy as it needs skill, so always think ahead.
Overcoming all 50 levels in Nightgate may be a daunting task but you can conquer it easily by following these tips and tricks.
