Color 6 Guide: 4 Tips & Tricks to Get a High Score

Are you bored of your monotonous life? Do you want a pastime that is highly enjoyable yet still beneficial for your mind? If the answer is yes, then look no further than the colorful and bright puzzle game Color 6. This is not your average color matching combo puzzle game. Color 6 combines the traditional color puzzle impact with a unique play style which involves you playing with hexagonal shapes instead of the normal squares or circles. Color 6 is available to download and play for free on the iOS through the Apple iTunes store.

A work of art from the gaming developers Tigrido, Color 6 offers an immersive puzzle gaming experience unlike any other game. The main objective of this game is to make combinations from the tiles provided such that a hexagon is created on the board. Once a hexagon is complete it will be added to your score which is displayed at the top left corner of the screen. You have to complete as many hexagons as possible before your total number of moves finish.

At first glance the game looks simple enough but as you will soon come to realize after the first 15 hexagons or so, the difficulty level increases significantly. In order to combat this drastic increase you need some assistance which is the aim of this article. The tips mentioned here will allow you to progress further and better throughout the game. So read on and get ready to impress your friends and family.

1. Make Your Moves Count

Like with any famous puzzle game, Color 6 also challenges players to use as few moves as possible while progressing through the game. You will be automatically notified when your moves have finished and you have no more remaining. However to stay in the game as long as possible and to ensure you get a higher score each time always keep an eye on the number of moves which is displayed in the center of the screen on top of the game board.

Making a successful hexagon match gains you an additional move so ideally if you could make a match for every move you would never run out. There is a catch to this logic though because as you go above 15 hexagons you will begin to notice that the game starts throwing random shapes at you. It becomes very difficult to make a match when you are not getting any of the tiles that are of the same color.

It will be best for you to practice restraint when dealing with such a situation and not fill up the board until you have no space left for the tile that can make the right match when it finally comes through. So think before you act otherwise you just might end up using extra moves for an easy match.

2. Don’t Let Split Ends Become A Pain

You might have noticed that even when a clear hexagon shape is not constructible, the game accepts your matching combo, leaving some parts behind on one or more sides of the hexagon. These are known as Split Ends and can be a major source of trouble for you later on in the game. Most of the time the Split Ends are small triangular shapes, unable to fit with any of the available tiles and thus becoming a nuisance for you to deal with. They occupy valuable space on the game board and if you block one of them with any other colored tile then get ready to say goodbye to your high score.

The solution is to simply avoid creating these pesky little triangles by carefully planning your moves. Split Ends are only created when you make a hasty decision or place a tile where it does not fit in to make a hexagon. Although you are rewarded with a point at the moment but wasting that extra space is simply not worth it.

Always try to complete a full hexagon by either matching two half tiles together or a quarter and three quarter tiles. Never try to place a trapezium alongside a one third completed hexagon. This move will almost always lead you to Split Ends. A moment of careful observation can help you escape hours of frustration later on in the game.

3. Combo Your Way To The Top

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could just rack up the points without finishing up the limited number of moves? This is not only possible in Color 6 but actually one of the best ways to gain a respectable high score very quickly. The skill is a bit difficult to master but given enough practicing time you can do it like a pro. In order to make a combo match in Color 6, you need to align two hexagons of the same color right next to or on top of each other. Keep in mind that both of these will need to be completed by the same part which is mostly a single trapezium or a third quarter pie slice part.

When you insert the part that completes both hexagons, achievement music will play and you will be notified of an additional 3 moves granted to you. This can be very vital in situations when you are short of matching tiles to make new hexagons. So be sure to try this and remember the more you practice the better you will get at performing combos with ease.

4. The Belt Is Your Friend And Your Enemy

In order to really learn to play Color 6 you will have to master the game board as well as mechanisms of the belt that holds the tiles. Instructions at the beginning of the game show you how to refresh the tiles that are available to you if you cannot find a suitable color or shape to make a new hexagon. However there is no mention that a refresh is actually a move on your part and decreases the already limited number of moves that you can make.

Most players tend to forget this factor and repeatedly tap on the refresh button out of frustration. Instead of being impatient always try to look for other hexagons that can be made on the board. The game mechanics are adjusted so as to never eliminate the possibility of making hexagons. Just look closely enough and you will begin to see many more options that you might have overlooked previously while being stressed out.

Color 6 is a delightful game with great background music and effects that will keep you glued to the screen of your smartphone for hours on end. Follow the tips mentioned sincerely and you will find yourself reaching to new high scores in no time.
